Gekyouryuu: show whole on stream? >.>
Ivalenz_: Is a hole an object or a void?
satyropodobny: the communal hole? ew.
NotCainNorAbel: and mom said I wouldn't be anything
kaffeetrinken89: A whole can be not a shape in every way?
LRRbot: Did somebody mention classic young-adult action-adventure movie Holes??
Invitare: the one that starred shia labeouf?
: Man, it's been a while since I've caught a LRR stream live.
kaffeetrinken89: sacral swiss cheese ...
Pteraspidomorphi: I think I tuned in on the exact second you started, this is atypical and uncanny. Probably the freemasons' fault
satyropodobny: locally grown facts
kaffeetrinken89: So we are filling ontological holes with pillars? Sounds dirty.
BusTed: Hide your shame!
They_Are_Alyx: Hide the shame!
Juliamon: Oh yeah, wide view for CtS
DoodlestheGreat: Some holes are easier to fill than others.
RockPusher: Streamers have floors‽ It might be more likely than you think!
cmdrud87: I honestly didn't know you had that much room in the studio
cmdrud87: and sex. lots and lots of sex
SpacePotato01: I wonder what patch they were on in the 12th century
Pteraspidomorphi: Personal Ity
: Cathedral building?
josh___something: Wait... We're a cult?!
Angnor33: We're not NOT a cult.
RockPusher: The shame! Avert your eyes!
kaffeetrinken89: a story about pillars is totally about post production, i guess.
Invitare: and building cathedrals...
Pazy160: Im sure the new cathedral will calm down the anarchy.
LordChrusher: I read the book many years ago
SpacePotato01: Is this before or after the GoT prequel?
Invitare: building a cathedral is the ultimate form of graffiti
TheOtherTrevor: I just learned there was a 4th book in this series I hadn't read and a 5th due later this year
Pazy160: You cant be putting ads in games I paid for, thats not cool.
Vandristine: the Greg

RockPusher: The Great Greek Hero of Understanding: Subtitles
Gekyouryuu: a Hideo game by Video Kojima
TehAmelie: sweet church ruins here
Thisbymaster: "All that is not saved, will be lost."
kaffeetrinken89: when there should be a hole, but there is none ...
Invitare: we can't see them, clearly you should play using the stream feed
TehAmelie: should we just read this book it seems to be based on?
: This is Anarchy, not Discord
TehAmelie: oh, it works
TheOtherTrevor: @TehAmelie You didn't do your assigned reading?
Invitare: Sally knows what she's doing > Sally knows what she's done
TehAmelie: Tom's Tools is the name of my Tool cover band
RockPusher: What happened to Tom?
niccus: alright, time to lockpick your nose
Invitare: wait isn't THIS a cathedral? Why do you need to build another?
Invitare: just use this one!
RockPusher: niccus > You pick your nose, congratulations, it is now unlocked
Gekyouryuu: this is more of a chapel
niccus: *can* you have an indoor gargoyle? would it not be a grotesque unless you want mold?
TehAmelie: oh, the cathedral at the title page was unfinished, not ruined?
TheOtherTrevor: Is everything supposed to be a silhouette?
Thisbymaster: a woman, reading? in the 12th century? She could be burned as a witch
TheMandrew: spoilers, the plague is book 2
TehAmelie: has some style to it
niccus: so what fun stuff happens in england around 1135

DaScrooge: dont eat dirty snow
Mattmitchell45: I do love artful snowy woods portrayals

Nigouki: the rattling in the background sounds a bit like a geiger counter
Lord_Hosk: the return of russel confirmed

RockPusher: What about groin vaults; can you talk about groin vaults when talking to a child?
macbody2: Are the Books any good?
richard_ermen: time for bebe
keroan0: Man, being a pregnant woman before antibiotics must have been really quietly terrifying
Invitare: child birth was a killer
TheMandrew: @macbody2 the story in pillars is good. but the content can be rough to get through. lots of bad, uncomfortable things happen to people
niccus: having two healthy kids and a third on the way is a pretty good track record for the time
macbody2: I've seen it on many bookshelves and always seen it as a kinda memey-book -- Too popular. And most good litterature is disturbing. That is what makes it good.
rotarysorter: lived through childbirth Pog
DaScrooge: so far so good
TehAmelie: i believe 25% of women died in childbirth until we had like, soap
Mattmitchell45: That's quite a lucid speech for a very healthy person to........
macbody2: @TehAmelie legit ....

TehAmelie: do you eat your cheese with the peel?
VeryBadLifeChoices: he'll pocket the horse too
niccus: you definitely don't want to see Posterior James
ScottSonOfScott: It wouldn’t be nice to cut the cheese
Invitare: did the Devil have to pay the bridge toll?
They_Are_Alyx: Prior James? What about Future James?
satyropodobny: literall throw the book at them

drcthulu: throw the book at em

laundreydhull: war! I knew it!
lackingsanity: fun (?) fact: the name francis here is ahistorical, as the game is set before the life of francis of assisi
TehAmelie: Blois sounds like a name someone made up because Alois was taken
SquareDotCube: typical England - France relations for the Medieval ages
TehAmelie: and then we got Clois, inventor of the cloister. . .
DaScrooge: this is the time where a dual title was inheritet, right?

TheOtherTrevor: who's the greedy one? This guy is upset he doesn't get any
kusinohki: wait... 1 monk telling another monk he's too trusting of a 3rd monk??

gualdhar: death to kings? death to kings.
Gaz_L: that apparently isn't true any more
jibkat: smash the patriarchy
TehAmelie: but do we kill the kings only to replace them with bishops?
TehAmelie: chapter 1 of 7!
: Remigius holds us in contempt?
matthaus_c: won't get much better than a chapter break to end on
Gaz_L: apparently it was super popular in Germany?
: Popular Cinderblock
Pteraspidomorphi: It's popular all over the world
matthaus_c: look, if this gets us closer to the Waiting For Godot game
jibkat: Monk games are hot right now
hackingducks: cori's shirt is like a video encoder test pattern
Gaz_L: omg, there was a musical too!
Pteraspidomorphi: You couldn't refuse the nomination
RockPusher: You could fail on Animal Farm
RockPusher: also the characters could go before their time
Gaz_L: i do like when games have other characters have agency. having choices doesn't necessarily mean your character can influence the outcome of everything
Gaz_L: the illusion of choice shouldn't be a derogatory thing
Pteraspidomorphi: Pentiment does choice well and has real choice, but it also has plenty of illusory moments that do not detract from the experience
satyropodobny: Even if we did'nt prevent the burning the letter would survive, since prior james explicitly forbid the burning of his bible
Gaz_L: it just means some of the game is happening in the player's mind. how you react to the choice presented
RockPusher: Teenage Exocolonist is about as best I've seen for interactive fiction with somewhat meaningful choice
: It's fun to be belligerent
Invitare: that's what all the people say
Gaz_L: you're choosing what the character thinks about the events, not the events themselves
Invitare: there's probably not going to be a C in Wiltshire, it's not on the coast
drcthulu: there's a little apostate in all of us
spurius: imagine a novel with graphics, inconceivable
Gaz_L: sometimes, they're an actor (I've listened to some very bad audiobook narrators)
Reecer6: imagine a novel with visuals!
xantos69: @spurius Some kind of.... visual... novel.
RockPusher: Remington Monk
TehAmelie: The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante has like a 2% chance of you picking the correct series of choices to live through the game and get a positive ending, but it does let you make all those bad choices. . .
matthaus_c: we're engaging with paratext!
Gaz_L: it's like any adaptation. films do the same thing, it's the screenwriter and director, and actors' etc interpretation of the book
matthaus_c: I like how this adaptation invites you to explore a range of possible feelings the devs have interpreted through scenes in the book
DoodlestheGreat: You ARE scintillating, Cameron.
Reecer6: adaptations of books into video games used to be much more common
RockPusher: Hey, we used pot to beat up some ice
: how much of this story would be ruined by smartphones?
ghyllnox: And now people *pay* to listen to you talk!
TehAmelie: the movie Adaptation is one of my favorite adaptations
RockPusher: what more technology do you need
Reecer6: hitchhiker's guide, neuromancer, dune
: wonder why
TehAmelie: think happy Potionomics thoughts!
DoodlestheGreat: Nah, let's find a new direction for this convo.
Boopity: That's the vibe
matthaus_c: it's okay, Roland Barthes has been rolling over in his grave about it too
Akaiatana: Cameron's train of though: adaptations as interesting interpretations
Gaz_L: which is absurd because translation IS localisation, it's just a matter of degree, though
matthaus_c: I'll use my trusty frying pan... as a drying pan!
DrBatman0: @matthaus_c man, I love pokemon
spurius: imagine adpating a book into a movie and making it a satire of the themes the original author intended
KV1NN4: I think Nintendo Japan supported the Jelly Donut translation
KV1NN4: they were hoping it would help western kids get more into it
xantos69: I like translation because I don't speak other languages. I PREFER localization, because I am not from other cultures. The question is always just... was the localization done well or not.
ShatteredShamrock: i'd argue that neil patrick harris is also sad in the film
jibkat: nuke grandes as well!!
: you mean the people dressed in black shirts are bad?
Gaz_L: i always think about Don Quixote, and how the book is basically 'haha look at this silly man pretending to be a night, isn't that stupid' but many adaptations find a sort of nobility in his individualism
Akaiatana: They are going to think Isekais are tragic in four hundred years
Invitare: Don Quixote is the best selling book of all time
Gaz_L: but yeah, Man of La Mancha was the main one i was thinking of. love that show
Invitare: It's almost sold as much as One PIece
ShatteredShamrock: The Sequel to Don Quixote does some next level meta petty nonsense that I love
Pteraspidomorphi: I mean, many isekais are tragic right now
DrBatman0: please forgive my ignorance - What is an isekai?
LordChrusher: reading books in translation is easier when they are annotated
Boopity: Can't wait for scholars to dissect the deep and thoughtful messages behind LRR's sketches in the future
Invitare: @DrBatman0 character gets inserted into another world/time
Invitare: Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an Isekai, if you've played that
Gaz_L: @DrBatman0 a sub-genre, mostly in manga/anime where a character dies and wakes up in another world, like a fairy tale world or something
DrBatman0: @DrBatman0 oh right. Alince in wonderland, Inuyasha, stuff like that?
matthaus_c: one day there will be adaptations of this sub scroll
DoodlestheGreat: @DrBatman0 A genre of fiction in Japan where the protagonist is somehow transported to a different world. Think "Alice in Wonderland" or "A Connetcticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court."
: 50 Bits!
: Oh my god it did not occur to me that Alice in Wonderland is an isekai
DrBatman0: Also a bunch of episodes of Doctor Who?
TehAmelie: now i wonder what sad nobility the future will find in Homer Simpsons's mindless self-destroying avoidance of adult responsibilities
Invitare: Doctor Who is just Sci-Fi
Invitare: not really an Isekai
shurtal: fomson jomson?
DrBatman0: right, but specifically the episodes when it's like "Oh no, we're stuck in 1950s new york"
Dread_Pirate_Westley: The jam will be fammed.
LordZarano: The Famboree Jamboree
matthaus_c: oh don't worry the removal is REALLY good
Spades_Slicc: I'm currently playing all will be one
DrBatman0: or "Oh no, we're stuck in 15th century Rome"
ShatteredShamrock: Dam Fam Card Jam?
Gaz_L: just don't draw cards
Spades_Slicc: it's great
TheAinMAP: Thank you for streaming.
xantos69: To play around Sheoldrid... simply don't draw cards.
Spades_Slicc: Have a nice day everyone
Invitare: @DrBatman0 Isekai is a one time thing, you don't go back

Invitare: or if you do it's the end of the series
DrBatman0: @DrBatman0 I see
Gaz_L: huh, does Sheoldred nonbo with Urabrask?
: watched Kenji draft Sheoldred today, and she never lived to do more than 2 damage
DrBatman0: byyye streeeam
Invitare: there's an Isekai called That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

matthaus_c: @Gaz_L not really, they just don't synergise. Urabrask doesn't replace your draw step, just adds a thing
Invitare: usually with overly long descriptive names
matthaus_c: if you mean on the Opponent's side, yes they won't get pinged for 2 for their draw step, but any additional cards will ping them
Gaz_L: @matthaus_c yeah, that's what i just realised. the lifegain for the person with Sheoldred is good, but it's the nug for 2 that makes it really oppressive
TehAmelie: wow, missed opportunity of the decade
TehAmelie: they could have called resident Evil 7 Bayouhazard (thanks twitter)
TehAmelie: and on that note, goodnight chat
