RockPusher: !search for treasure
LRRbot: You find: Jewels!
LRRbot: That's my secret, I'm always in a constant state of chicken.
TheMerricat: Afternoon/Evening(?) chat! Hope everyone's weekend has been going splendidly.
: So I was on the fence about twitch giving several minutes of chat 'backlog' prior to when you joined to you, but that helped a lot in knowing why Rockpusher was chickening me
beowuuf: title change
Juliamon: What was bad about it that had you on the fence?
: @Juliamon Mostly feature creep, and a perpetual worry that I'd not notice I was responding to something someone said hours ago...
Juliamon: It's not really feature creep, mods have always had it. They're just finally recognizing that it shouldn't be mod-gated.
TheMerricat: @Juliamon Hehe like I said, was on the fence rather than totally against it. Mostly was/am letting my social anxiety give me FUD for it.
CAKHost: I'm sure no exciting news dropped between Checkpoint and Chillpoint so there's no "Curses! Foiled again!" feels this time!
Juliamon: Oh yes, nothing at all
CAKHost: (I don't know if there was any new games news between the two)
Juliamon: There was a new Mail Time, which made me wonder how many Mail Times it will take to catch up to the Moonbase move once it happens
DoodlestheGreat: All of them.
Exxaxl: Everything is FINE
mowdownjoe: @juliamon I'm still wondering if my package ever got to the Moonbase.
TheMerricat: I just realized... Paul's laptop looks supiciously like the one I'm using...
aitsu100: well chat had more allowance for homework
beowuuf: what beej said 200%
RockPusher: I happen to be home today so it feels like Saturday to me and Chillpoint happens on my Saturday, so things seem perfectly normal to me
CAKHost: I'll watch that Mail Time later. Thanks for letting me know, Juliamon!
mtvcdm: My off days are Sunday/Monday so I need to rethink my relationships
DoodlestheGreat: ~/Monday Monday.... can't trust that day.../~
aitsu100: and then theres wednesday
: why should you start the week working. do we jus make days start at 8am instead of 12am
SquareDotCube: Feeling Tuesday, wishing it was Friday, settled on a Sunday

Laserbeaks_Fury: Give him the schtick...DON'T GIVE HIM THE SCHTICK
Laserbeaks_Fury: I don't know how I feel about the waffle maker, I keep going back and forth on it
TheMerricat: TIL what Blue waffles are and now I'm sad....
mtvcdm: I bought a Sonic-themed Humble bundle once and still haven't touched most of it
DoodlestheGreat: I enjoy waffles frequently. I may have one tomorrow. But I'm old school: I like my waffles SQUARE!

SquareDotCube: D&B's kind of hit their peak in the late 00's
Juliamon: DoodlestheGreat THANK you, I don't know where this round-not-Belgian waffle craze started
DoodlestheGreat: There's a D & B not too far from me. I shall have to look into it.

Laserbeaks_Fury: Dave and Busters is basically an overpriced Chuck E Cheese
mtvcdm: I remember when at C2E2 Dave and Buster's had a booth right across from LRR's, I was real worried about it... and it turned out they just had a little pegboard children could play to win candy.
otakon17: hey guys what I miss?
laundreydhull: Wait, there's a thing today?
SquareDotCube: @Juliamon square waffles on a round plate, that's where the "craze" stared.
laundreydhull: Riiight, there was FamJam...
RockPusher: Beej is worried about making Alton Brown cry
otakon17: I want a waffleiron
otakon17: I love me some good waffles
DoodlestheGreat: @Juliamon Our family had an old GE model that had flippable plates so it'd make waffles AND grill sandwiches.
otakon17: @DoodlestheGreat that's nice
Juliamon: DoodlestheGreat Us too!
Juliamon: It was a sad day when it finally kicked the bucket
iris_of_ether: I have a little baby waffle iron - it's just like 4-5" across. Works well for the amount of waffle I want
DoodlestheGreat: Not a fan of the rotating makers. They never seem to cook properly.
TheMerricat: Novelty Waffle irons are demonstrably inferior to a normal waffle iron because they flatten part of the waffle, reducing the amount of pockets to hold syrup.
: technically you could use a waffle iron as a wireless charger.
Juliamon: (mostly because it meant we needed to get a pancake griddle)
: Wait wait, , we can make waffles better than the ones we'd buy?
mtvcdm: I am either syrup or butter but never both.
Juliamon: TheMerricat Depends on whether the special design is a depression = extra syrup space
laundreydhull: Uh TTSF special?
otakon17: powdered sugar and butter on the waffles!
iris_of_ether: Quick, who is who on the LRR Breakfast Club?
otakon17: Beej is the crazy pixie stick girl
laundreydhull: S E G A
RockPusher: So the next movie and chill session is waffle-catered is what I'm hearing
SquareDotCube: If there's a waffle-making TTSF we would have to invite Matt for both waffling and his waffle-maker
laundreydhull: A Genesis decaled Waffle iron?
otakon17: "The Waffleiron Club"
Laserbeaks_Fury: I remember the big prize on the wall of out local arcade was a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3
Izandai: dear god please no
otakon17: @Laserbeaks_Fury that seems nice
mtvcdm: Love Tester escape room. Find all the Love Tester's perfect matches within an hour and win a Sonic waffle iron.

Nightecho06: Oh 5 year badge?
otakon17: Red and green is brown
Laserbeaks_Fury: I mean, brown is just a dark yellow
CAKHost: Okay, yeah. Art Media and light pigments don't mix the same XD
DoodlestheGreat: Gee... if I went to my local D & B, maybe I could get one to sell online.
CAKHost: I'm sure those waffles won't make the ring loss sound when you first cut into them...
mtvcdm: They're already on eBay
: @CAKHost I'm sure you can make a electronic fork that would though
mtvcdm: Free shipping
otakon17: it does not usually
aitsu100: @CAKHost as long as the drowning music doesnt play as i apply maple syrup
otakon17: but how many Kromer?L
: The profit is the games you got to play
RockPusher: C'mon down to Dave's surplus Busters and Bustiers!
DoodlestheGreat: What if you had all those tickets just in the course of D & B-ing and needed to use them on SOMETHING.
CAKHost: @CAKHost Oh no! That would be horrible! D:
: If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Please give your clips descriptive names if you want them to be seen!)
CAKHost: Heather, NO!
otakon17: THAT IS AMAZING!
: that music still gives me anxiety, and I barely played any Sonic games
Izandai: It would be really fucking funny if this waffle maker was like, the best waffle maker you can get at that price point.
: They DO that.
otakon17: yeah but that wouldn't be profitable for ALL THE COMPANIES THAT SELL WAFFLE MAKERS
: Government Issued Waffle Maker
SquareDotCube: the family heirloom wafflemaker
RockPusher: You turn 21 and you get given the traditional waffle maker
DoodlestheGreat: Yes, but you don't have the cool blue casing for it!
otakon17: Government mandated wafflemakers!
Lord_Hosk: My brother in law used to grind Dave and Busters tickets on his lunch breaks to buy I-phones they had and flip those for $400, it cost him about $250 in games to win enough tickets for each phone he won about 1 a month
constablecrab: Like paying for custom license plates.
otakon17: @Lord_Hosk that's insane hustle
SquareDotCube: Beej's election motto: "A wafflemaker in every home"
Izandai: @Lord_Hosk dayum
otakon17: There are no weirdos like Beej
mrjujubeans: Guess Beej has a new business to startup!
DoodlestheGreat: @Lord_Hosk Ask him if he has any tickets left and get one of those irons.
otakon17: Go Business Beej Go
: There may be better sources of news, but they don't have this weirdo!
TheMerricat: cold FORGED itorn
otakon17: the PROTECTIVE iron
mtvcdm: The best we did at these ticket arcades, I've told this story before, was when my brother and I hit a jackpot in a game at Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells and we wound up putting those tickets towards just a straight-up microwave.
otakon17: WE WILL BE HERE FOREVER THEN!
otakon17: a hacker my ass
TemporallyAwry: Isn't Cold-Iron meteorite? I thought that was a thing.
RockPusher: Doing the marketing poorly
RockPusher: Homebrew enablers people!
Lord_Hosk: @Lord_Hosk This was almost a decade ago
otakon17: For one, 10 million is a drop in the bucket for Nintendo. They're just being petty at this point
TheMerricat: So I appreciate the thought that Beej was presenting concerning big corps and this story, but Gary Bowser and Team Xecuter in particular are particularly bad causes to stand up for for this issue. Given Team Xecuter sold what was essentially ransomware that could brick your Switch because they were pissed people were attempting to rip off their own designs...
otakon17: Unless he hits the lottery
otakon17: But you have better chances of being struck by lightning...twice. Than hitting the lottery.
CAKHost: We have to assume there is a Mrs. Bowser. Unless all IRL Bowsers just manifest fully form and just do stuff.
Izandai: The idea of people who sell software that lets people circumvent copyright getting mad at people for stealing their software is so fucking funny. I can scarcely conceive of a person with less self-awareness than that.
Juliamon: TheMerricat Yeah, I've seen a lot of tweets defending the guy and it's like... you know it's not the same as someone who just made a fangame of a franchise that Nintendo themselves weren't doing anything with.
otakon17: What happened to "no cruel and unusual punishment"?
TemporallyAwry: If you're able to take 30% of someone's income as punishment to "prevent future crime" - why are fines for corporations usually only like .01% of their income?
otakon17: this files under that, he'll literally die with it hanging over his head

TheMerricat: @otakon17 not unusual, argueably not cruel.
TemporallyAwry: Nintendo Cereal for the rest of your life is absolutely "cruel and unusual"
otakon17: you literally have to live off of only 65% of your income for the rest of your life
mtvcdm: You may only eat from Sonic waffle machines
otakon17: I lose about 25% of my paycheck to taxes and 401k and other deductions alone
Izandai: @otakon17 Just make more income fourhead.
otakon17: oh yeah so easy
mtvcdm: I think the sentencing is intended to set this guy up as an example to others. Harsher than it would typically be but they want to send a message.
otakon17: lemme go down to the income tree and get some more income
Juliamon: otakon17 they were being sarcastic
otakon17: so was I XD
laundreydhull: 15 mins.?
saucemaster5000: taking things from my sister, a lawyer, seems like an incredibly bad idea
TheMerricat: So it's important to note, heading off part of Beej's argument here, the majority of this fine that he has to pay back is PENALTY not reparations.
mtvcdm: Yeah, this isn't reparations, this is mostly punishment for having done the thing.
Izandai: Yeah, but it feels really wrong to fine someone for less than the cost of all thousand games. To just be like "Yeah you stole a thousand games but we're basically gonna let you get away with 90% of those."
: @saucemaster5000 the trick is to take her Bar certificate first..
otakon17: Take her ATtorney's Badge, clearly
otakon17: she won't be able to prove a thing without out
otakon17: he did a thing yeah but the punishment is still way too damn much
Izandai: You can't pirate something that isn't being legally sold.
IzlanntheLion: But they say it's all the same
otakon17: *but it's not*
: Yeah, then it's just stealing
SocraticMethod: @Izandai You can. Circumventing any license is "pirating" in colloqual term
RockPusher: Marketing modchips as being explicitly for piracy is generally frowned upon by even ardent copyright critics
otakon17: THAT BACKGROUND IS SHIFTING COLRS HOW IT DO THAT!?
Izandai: Because, by and large, pirates have no morals. They claim a moral defense of piracy, but really they just want to consume media without paying for it.

Juliamon: also, they're programmable tiles
: sorry I didn't notice before and I fat fingered my capslock
TheMerricat: @otakon17 If you are talking about the neopixels on the wall behind them, they have a whole video about building the wall from well before COVID.
otakon17: I know I remember watching it on a long insomnia night but not the part where they can change color that is COOL
RockPusher: otakon17 look for Nanoleaf lights and you'll find them
Earthenone: gary bowser will probobly need to make some mod chips for sony to pay off nintendo
TheMerricat: The rest of Team Xecuter hasn't been actually tried because most of them haven't been extradited yet.
Earthenone: i remember that show
RockPusher: ♫ Woke up in the morning and my stocks were gone / Enron-ron-ron an Enron-ron ♫
Laserbeaks_Fury: So, has Mario been saying "So long, Gary Bowser" this whole time?
RockPusher: I miss Robin Williams
aitsu100: oh right that came out around the same time as Burn Notice
otakon17: Wait wasn't that the offer that Frank Abignale Jr. Got for all his check counterfeiting?!
Earthenone: !findquote skin

Juliamon: It's a valuable thing with valuable things stapled to it
Lord_Hosk: I put my counterstrike skins in the dish washer and now I have $150,000 in clean cash!
TemporallyAwry: Ah yes, the "Sparkling Money Laundering" story.
IzlanntheLion: Ugly ass gun
Izandai: It's a very expensive skin that was made even more expensive by being made much uglier.
: So I don't know if they made them custom or not but someone on Twitter took their iPhone and added four REAL copies of that sticker and was wondering who would buy it
RockPusher: Gun skins aka hey look, you can do digital item commerce without wildly energy wasting tech!

CAKHost: Being Dumb transcends all things
Izandai: It's still dumb. It's just not NFTs.
Earthenone: for one thing, saying "no one" gets mad at someone is always wrong this is the internet
otakon17: I'm mad at you for making that statement!
TheMerricat: In theory the most expensive item I own other than my car is my lightsaber bat for the Scout in TF2, in THEORY it's worth something like $3k or so... but I seriously doubt that I'll ever get anything for it..
otakon17: have you tried auctioning it off by chance?
flouncy_magooo: The most expensive thing I own is my liver
LordZarano: Skin gambling has been a whole big thing
otakon17: Wait my liver or your liver?
flouncy_magooo: We can share it
mtvcdm: Epic bought Aquiris and that means Horizon Chase 2 likely isn't coming out on Steam and it makes me sad
: @otakon17 Nah, selling it would mean a lot of work, but I keep getting people trying to scam me on Steam friends because they want to steal it from me.
fiftymcnasty: Oh yeah early Steam sucked hard
JadedCynic: when Steam first came out, it was HORRIBLE
JadedCynic: it was broken
Earthenone: the offline mode was turn off your computer
JadedCynic: some of my oldest "endless waiting progress bar" gifs are of the old steam progress bar...
Juliamon: The only reason most people got Steam was they finally decided to lure people in with actual games (Orange Box)
Pteraspidomorphi: GOG Galaxy is completely optional though
TemporallyAwry: Itch.io has your back!
Amentur: GOG's Galaxy at least is optional
Juliamon: Portal for free was why I made a Steam acct
JadedCynic: @Juliamon 100% this - orange box was my first steam purchase
mtvcdm: EA is Origin I think?
mtvcdm: Ubisoft is Uplay?
TheMerricat: GOG Galaxy was so promising till they stopped working on it....
Laserbeaks_Fury: Origin is being retired
RockPusher: Valve have built up a bunch of good will in my neck of the woods with Proton and increasingly good Linux support
ANeMzero: @mtvcdm Origin was replaced with the EA App, which is different and missing features from Origin.
Amentur: Origin is dead and now is the "EA App"
: @TemporallyAwry well, NOW it does; where was it back in the naughty oughties?
Friedent: GoG at least had the adapter that allowed you to pull all those other inventories and display them in a single place
Pteraspidomorphi: RockPusher, fully agree. They did a lot of good in recent years
IzlanntheLion: Never understood csgo skins because it's 1st person
ANeMzero: They ran a beta for like 2 years and turned off origin before hitting parity for... reasons.

Pteraspidomorphi: But early on Steam was so bad I only got an account really late. It's like LRR and Youtube
JadedCynic: @Laserbeaks_Fury good, it always bugged me that the holding publisher that owned a dev studio by that name ALSO named its online store the same thig
TheMerricat: @Friedent That was what I was so exicted for, given the only other launcher I knew of that did that was that Nite launcher from a Russian dev that required giving it so many permissions that even if it was legit.... I was too afraid of installing.
RockPusher: Pteraspidomorphi I mean, it is self-serving since they are hedging their bets against Microsoft attempts to walled-garden Windows — but I'll take it!
BraveOthello: I think what Beej is getting at is money laundering
MWGNZ: @RockPusher now if they'd only actually sell us the steam deck
BraveOthello: And there it is
CAKHost: I think I got Steam to play Terraria? Does Steam has some history function on what is the oldest game in your library?
: MWGNZ indeed - it sits there in my wishlist taunting me
Juliamon: CAKHost Pretty sure it does, yeah
Pteraspidomorphi: You can sort by activity at least
ANeMzero: @Friedent The problem with GOG Galaxy is they outsource most of the other client integration to community devs so stuff is still shady, can be incredibly unstable at times and sometimes just break for like a year because the one dev stopped working on it and GOG won't authorize a different fork.
TheMerricat: @CAKHost Launch Steam, pull down the menu under your face/username. 'Account Details', First section of the new page - 'View Purchase History'
mtvcdm: I mean, gun skins are basically gambling right?
Earthenone: suprise mechanincs
Friedent: yeah I'm not saying GoG is great. It just had a really good unique feature idea that I wish someone else would adopt
TheMerricat: @CAKHost Unfortunately it doesn't go all the way back in history, but that's the best I know to track
TemporallyAwry: Source -> GO had a lot of people losing their minds too.
: @CAKHost Thanks! Wow it looks like The Path was my first Steam purchase
IzlanntheLion: Skins do transfer
CAKHost: Followed by Portal 2 preorder and then Terraria! XD
ANeMzero: @CAKHost Purchase history is a bit spotty but the licenses and activations option in account details does go all the way back and covers third party keys too.
JadedCynic: Hey kids - remember when the Steam application had a GREEN color scheme?
CAKHost: (I also ordered Magicka back during The Path order too. Though I don't remember playing that one for too long)
TheMerricat: Oh wow, The Path, I just looked it up and that is a memory. Was that a Talking Sim or just a 'regular' stream that they played that one on?
Zblaster: my favorite skin is just a gun that has a dragon carved into it bascially
: Partner with the USPS to get all the specialty stamps as in-game stickers
CAKHost: I don't remember a LRR playthough on The Path...
IzlanntheLion: Riot got valorant skins down
CAKHost: And I can't remember what drawn me to the game in the first place.
LordZarano: My first Steam purchase was Garry's Mod + CS:Source
Laserbeaks_Fury: Lisa Frank AK-47
TheMerricat: @CAKHost Hmm... I know I watched someone play it or I would have never found it to buy it... if it wasn't LRR it must have been back when I was still watching Spoiler Warning...
Juliamon: It looks like something Alex would play
CAKHost: @JadedCynic ...I think I vaguely remember???
LordZarano: I have never actually played CS:S, but that was the way to get Garry's Mod
Laserbeaks_Fury: detecting behaviour, not hardware
TheMerricat: Olive green because it was suppose to match the 'army' theme they built around it. I can't remember if that was Half-Life or TF2 related....
JadedCynic: You are a statistical anomaly and we choose not to serve you anymore
CodeIndigo: what up lrr kids
TheMerricat: Would a normal person be able to do this sort of input.
Laserbeaks_Fury: Hopefully, no one ever gets banned without human eyes looking at it beforehand
CAKHost: Okay maybe I don't remember that green then. I was thinking of a more green highlights on like a dark gray
JadedCynic: @Laserbeaks_Fury yeah, that'd be horrible - thankfully NO ONE EVER does that...
JadedCynic: @CAKHost that's possible...
CAKHost: Regarding The Path, I wonder if it wasn't something on Escapist that made me aware of the game.
CAKHost: *was something
JadedCynic: oooh thanks!
CodeIndigo: The Oscar Pistorius problem (minus the murder)
Sarah_Serinde: How different is that from choosing keyboard and mouse vs controller?
DekiSystem: So this system needs a human overseer, essentially?
CAKHost: The Green I'm thinking is closer to a neon green, though I guess not as intense, if that makes sense?
GrassVortex: I feel it could probably be treated in similar ways to how we do weight classes in many sports.
Laserbeaks_Fury: Like beating Dark Souls with a DDR pad
mtvcdm: Marathons have wheelchair divisions.
CAKHost: Like the value of the green is closer to neon and not as muted as the army green is.
TheMerricat: So the issue here isn't that 'your controller choices are giving you incremental advantages' - at least how I read things. It's more like "are you using your assistive device to enter inputs that categorically are impossible for a normal setup to enter and that's giving you a huge advantage."
beowuuf: rolling tapping
CodeIndigo: Though to be honest there is someone out there playing Final Fantasy XIV with his mind (he's paralyzed)
Izandai: That's cool as shit.
LordZarano: With Steam Input anyone can have macros
CAKHost: My brain could just be crossing my wires and just be making me picture stuff again that aren't memories but still tries to pass it off as them. That happens to me a bunch...
Laserbeaks_Fury: Like, there's "hardware" standards for physical sports
mtvcdm: Sometimes you just prefer using your own stuff.
: If the Power-Glove was actually a peak interface solution - you know they'd have categories for it
Laserbeaks_Fury: It's so...bad
: You mean like aim assist?
mtvcdm: I remember the Summoning Salt video on Wii Sports Golf saying there was a little difference in one regional/original version or something vs. another that affected the speedrun.
CAKHost: Ahh, Susan Arendt did a Review on The Path on The Escapist! Which also had a nice video if I remember. I liked how she describe it
mtvcdm: Giving 'em a right tongue lashing
LordZarano: Tons of games have separate categories for Europe and NA, because one runs at 50Hz and the other at 60Hz
Lord_Hosk: Steven Spohn is a quite skilled fortnight player, but he isn't a tournament player
drcthulu: Thanks for mentioning that Heather
mtvcdm: Chronic fatigue syndrome (e.g. Julie)
Juliamon: Coordination issues, things like Serge's old injury
lirazel64: I mean, Serge can't use contrllers..controllers...
TheMerricat: @CAKHost I have to assume that's how I found it too, I can't find any other review/video concerning it that I would have conceivably watched.
LordZarano: LauraKBuzz's show Access-Ability is great. Highly recommend
TheAwkes: And not even strictly disability. I bought and remapped the XBox Pro controller just for comfort to put the bumpers underneath because my hands are too big to comfortably keep separate inputs on their default positions.
: that bit was great, and also a lot of work. But worth it imo
Mashamino: mon hun run!
Snowcookies: Monster Hunter, run!
CAKHost: I thought those were from Cameron but I then remembered that Graham also played Destiny XD
CAKHost: And I presume there is just some database/website that just lists all the weapons evar from that game
PMAvers: “I’m going to CARVE that Charizard!”
mtvcdm: Last night in the Discord we had a long talk about what people... eat... in the Pokemon world. Because it sure isn't very many Pokemon.
mtvcdm: It's a lot of fruits, eggs and desserts.
Lysander_salamander: Occasionally there are capture missions for Monster Hunter, but those are rare.
Laserbeaks_Fury: You can also catch Monsters in MH
7gorobei: wait, was Ingress the precursor to Splatoon?
TheMerricat: I just learned that Niantic made a game called NBA All-World
otakon17: Monster Hunter Story is good
otakon17: especially 2
TheMerricat: @TheMerricat oh, haven't made yet. They are making it... I wonder if we will grind up players for candy too...
Lysander_salamander: monster hunter snap sounds great
LRRbot: There's a Desert Bus mod in this game screaming to get out.
Earthenone: so you get a Stand?
7gorobei: pokemon snap vs marvel snap, go!
mtvcdm: Those are some real big bugsplats LRRBot
otakon17: so you wander around till you happen across a Monster and then fight it?
Earthenone: marvel snaps name misled me into thinking it would be like pokemon snap at first
mtvcdm: After you're done you show up in Las Vegas riding a dragon!
Earthenone: everyone knows yokai cant cross national boarders
TheMerricat: Or oceans
CaptainSpam: Bad Things™.
Earthenone: and thats why you smell peer to peer in small quantities
iris_of_ether: Yeah, this pics for this were wikd
mtvcdm: oh boy
Nydestroyer: is this the uncle who works at nintendo?
GrassVortex: oh no
TheMerricat: Line worker stole the cards before they were sold.....
mtvcdm: someone's getting *fiiirrrrreeeeed*
saucemaster5000: did they send detective pikachu?
Juliamon: "The expansion set these cards originated from, Fusion Strike, released November 12th, 2021 in the Americas, has long suffered from persistent anecdotal claims from fans of brutally low pull rates."
mtvcdm: 'Oh, yeah, that's Dave, that guy's a dink'
TheMerricat: "Remember, Pokemon offers no written guarantees of what cards or layouts in the packs. It only says that each pack contains 10 cards and 1 energy."
Lysander_salamander: what a terrible attempt at a heist
GrassVortex: if it is an issue, EU law will come down HARD on them
flouncy_magooo: Now they have to give 30% of all the packs they open to Nintendo
mtvcdm: You gave them your true name, never do that
Lysander_salamander: artificial scarcity is a problem
mtvcdm: You ate the Pokemon food, now you have to stay in Johto forever
TheMerricat: TBF - the Pokemon Company is very much that they don't want their cards to be treated as collectables and would rather flood the market with cards to tank it.
Earthenone: would be a nice PR move to mail copies of the missing rare cards to stores that sold boxes
Lord_Hosk: The pokemon company doesn't say "the secondary market will be supported by the cardboard playing cards we print"
Earthenone: pokemon are labeled
Malkmaven1176: Like having 4 copies of the same Weedle card in the same pack
Izandai: @TheMerricat If only WOTC took that stance...
Earthenone: pokemon is super nice with reprints
Earthenone: they will put tornament winning cards in structure decks, not 100$ booster packs
Laserbeaks_Fury: Multiple Onramps
IzlanntheLion: Which. What mtg should be
TheMerricat: @IzlanntheLion Hasbro can't get all the money if they don't squeeze all their IP as hard as possible.
flouncy_magooo: Magic is just an onramp to sell Yargle plushies
Lord_Hosk: I thought MTG cards were an onramp to the LRR Patreon
TheMerricat: I searched for Yargle plush and for some reason the second line of image search was Pickachu in a wedding dress....
flouncy_magooo: @Lord_Hosk It's a slippery slope...
CAKHost: Love finds a way? XD
Earthenone: we had to build something with all those bump in the nights
mtvcdm: It probably wasn't hard to figure out what part of the facility these cards went through and who was on shift there at the time.
: So what you are aying is it's like printing money
: Today's Chillpoint has been strangely filled with talk about things that aren't actually worth anyhting that people are willing to pay alot of money for.
mtvcdm: Who else remembers the McDonald's Monopoly game scandal where some guy hoarded the winning pieces.
CAKHost: That happened?
TheMerricat: @mtvcdm I remember McDonalds loosing lots of money in the early internet days because they didn't consider people getting online to trade pieces among each other.
Angreed66: Most things aren't worth money beyond people are willing to pay besides food and water
Tiber727: @mtvcdm I thought the entire point was that only 1 piece is each set is rare. Therefore trading is largely irrelevant.
Lord_Hosk: @mtvcdm THe one security guard who stole all the top prize tokens and gave them to friends and family.
Earthenone: im googling it, its not prohibitavly expernsive to bu ya copy of pokemon blue, assumign you dont want it new in box
GhostValv: Don't put that evil in this world Paul
Earthenone: they do let you by both, and you can random it with your firneds
Angreed66: It is
Izandai: VGC is a Pokémon Company thing.
: "Jacobson justified his long-running multimillion-dollar crime as his reaction to Simon executives having rerun randomized draws to ensure that high-level prizes went to areas in the United States rather than Canada, although he did not take the stolen pieces to Canada."
CAKHost: So many things for me to look at later. Right now, chillpoint ans sewing XD
Earthenone: me and my old roommate flipped a coin to see which version of the generation we got
Laserbeaks_Fury: "Sorry Charizard. You have to go to a farm upstate because you've cycled out of Standard."
Kadew_C: "the first pokemon game didn't have eggs" chansey and exeggcute are right there!
Earthenone: chansy could even use the softboiled TM!
flouncy_magooo: Exeggcutes are seeds!
: @Laserbeaks_Fury It's funny, because Charizard is one of the few pokemon to be available in, like, every Pokemon game, because people love big fire dragon.
Kadew_C: seeds are plant eggs
Lord_Hosk: Tiber727 The lower prizes weren't it was only the top prizes that were ultra rare. The lower prizes you could swap around, to fill up, like jet ski's and free plane ticket to anywere in the US on Delta Airlines or stuff like that.
: in built randomizer
brainiac4 subscribed at Tier 2. They've subscribed for 86 months!
brainiac4: thanks for the streams, gang.
: Thanks for subscribing, brainiac4! (Today's storm count: 11)
rXpCH subscribed at Tier 1. They've subscribed for 8 months!
: Thanks for subscribing, rXpCH! (Today's storm count: 12)
Tiber727: @Lord_Hosk Didn't know that, thanks.
BrowneePoints: Yep that was Sugimori's original pitch
rXpCH: Yeay 8 months
Laserbeaks_Fury: "Steak prices plummet as Bouffalant ban hits the Tournament scene."
Foxmar320: Legends IS the better game
TheMerricat: @mtvcdm So in the _early_ pre-2000's era, I believe they set it up so that each region had basically a pool of prizes that were possible and distributed the pieces accordingly by region with the assumption that most of the prizes wouldn't be redeemed due randomization. Then the internet came along and while it didn't help with the super rare top prizes, people were able to cooridinate enough to share pieces that McDonald's had to pay out more of the pool than the campaings were actually budgeted
BrowneePoints: Legends IS certainly A game
RockPusher: Angry bird coloured pachinko balls bouncing through a piggy board
IzlanntheLion: Oh yeah Sega isn't owned by Nintendo yet
mtvcdm: The birds are angry that they got stuck with a Sonic waffle iron
BrowneePoints: Oh yea and Angry Birds had the Red Bird do a Smash or Pass and apparently based on his answers the internet is now calling him Bi
RockPusher: Did you like angry birds as a kid - then do we have a pachinko machine for you!
mtvcdm: Okay.... does this mean Angry Birds head costume for Hatsune Miku dressup.
flouncy_magooo: @BrowneePoints ... there's so much to unparse here
BrowneePoints: yea P4Golden is what made it known in the US
BrowneePoints: p5 is what exploded worldwide
BrowneePoints: "What is Acid Jazz"
GhostValv: or you launch kids at walls, which sounds kinda appealing
RockPusher: Angry Birds merch would make for some excellent UFO machine fillers
: the Angry Birds games where *huge* at one time. And not many years ago they would probably have bought Sega instead of the reverse
BrowneePoints: I mean the last game LucasArts made before it closed the first time was a Star Wars Angry Birds crossover
RockPusher looks forward to ridiculous Angry Birds minigames in Like A Dragon 9
JadedCynic: I was already an old man when Angry Birds came out, and my only response was "this is just a rip-off of Armor Games' Crush the Castle"
TheMerricat: @mtvcdm werid I get the wikipedia no-image image when I click that.....
saucemaster5000: @RockPusher that's an incredible idea
Foxmar320: Not even the first time they killed Sonic
CAKHost: If there was a break I don't remember it XD
BrowneePoints: Sonic Spinball 2 x Angry Birds
TheAwkes: Tie-in pachinko games in you Yakuza gambling parlours.
PMAvers: Shoot Sonic at a Eggman fortress
drcthulu: curse of the hedgehog
Foxmar320: There is a Miku mod for Sonic Mania to play as Miku complete with her music
Foxmar320: It's her in the Sonic hoodie
saucemaster5000: Sega brings you the Ouya -- But worse!
SquareDotCube: Minis were made in collaboration with M2, so you know they're quality
BrowneePoints: Ah yes, the SEGA DreamDeck
TheMerricat: Sega's net worth is apparently roughly $4 billion. Nintendo's net worth is roughly $55 billion. Sony is $143 billion, Microsoft $2.3 trillion.
Lord_Hosk: were you...Mario and rabbids?
iris_of_ether: I loved Sonic and Knuckles!
CAKHost: Beej was being very Walken there for a moment XD
BrowneePoints: I had a 65 AND a Genesis/CD Combo
mtvcdm: I kept playing Pigskin Footbrawl
GhostValv: gunstar heroes is fantastic
SquareDotCube: Shining Force was Sega's version of the tactical RPG
iris_of_ether: Sonic Spinball was HARD but I still liked and played it
BrowneePoints: Shining Force!!!!
Lord_Hosk: Shining force was amazing
CaptainSpam: Real talk: I still have a soft spot for the original Bubsy, warts and all. The sequel, not so much, and past that...
BrowneePoints: The Power Rangers Genesis game!
mtvcdm: Whatever company is currently holding the Atari name
Lord_Hosk: Which Atari
TheMerricat: The bloated and dead skin of Atari.
JadedCynic: zombie Atari
mtvcdm: Sporting News Baseball
Decaped: LRR theme plays at Atari Motel near you
GrassVortex: oh yeah, this mess...
SquareDotCube: I'd guess Sporting News and they've probably forgot they owned that.
CaptainSpam: Ah, the classic cocktail, the dark and darker. It... wait, what?
BrowneePoints: Yea cuz it's Fort-Knight
TheMerricat: @Beej - Sporting News Baseball - made by Hudson - acquired by Konami.
Juliamon: It's Tarkov but dungeon
mtvcdm: The C64 version of Sporting News Baseball was made by Epyx.
TheAwkes: Sword and Sorcery shrinking circle Battle Royale.
BrowneePoints: it's Tarkov but Medieval
Lysander_salamander: Sort of like a Tarkov meets Battle Royale, in fantasy
iris_of_ether: I think he and Ben played it on a home stream. Seemed interesting
Lysander_salamander: It's got the shrinking zones thing
GrassVortex: Nexon is working on a game, named P3, that Dark and Darker apparently stole a lot from. It is a mess
Catcard: Dark and Darker didn't steal shit, it's all assets from the store that they both have in common.
GrassVortex: basically stole the result of the Pre-production, that another company, Nexon, payed for
Amentur: P3 was the project title when Nexon was trying to make that idea happen
TheMerricat: @mtvcdm Epyx was the publisher. But if they kept the rights then the ownership would have gone to a company called Bridgestone Media Group.
Decaped: Basically redid the pre-production that Nexon canceled*
IzlanntheLion: Assets were unreal assets but they claimed that they stole the assets
BrowneePoints: Nexon is uh...not great overall
Catcard: Always root against Nexon. Nexon is a plague.
BrowneePoints: and I say this as someone who played MapleStory for YEARS
GrassVortex: in this case, both are a bit bad
Earthenone: who are we suposed to root for, they are both rich and powerful corperations
TheMerricat: Reminder I think Wolf3D or Doom was developed on another company's time... I can't remember whom...
Juliamon: I don't think any Maplestory fan actually supports Nexon intentionally
Amentur: The weird part is that apparently the previous workers for Nexon signed a non-compete clause saying they wouldn't be allowed to make something in that vein for a year or something of the effect
TheMerricat: Nexion is famous for pumping a huge number of W+P level crap games with a huge number of microtransactions.
DeM0nFiRe: IIRC Nexon was one of the first companies to do loot boxes with Combat Arms
mtvcdm: @mtvcdm I just checked BMG's site and given how nakedly Christian all their up-front content is, if they even do own any videogame content I doubt they even realize it.
Mai_Andra: I was hype for FFXI mobile remake, that Nexxon was supposed to be making. But then it was canceled. Blarg...
GrassVortex: the big thing about all those assets, is that they had tons of them that where all the same. So just further proof that they just copied all the ideas and put them back together and callnig it a new game, despite that initial work being done by another company
Pteraspidomorphi: Noncompetes are perfectly fine, if you keep paying me!
DeM0nFiRe: non competes should be required to be tied to garden leave clauses
SquareDotCube: I don't think you can enforce the noncompete unless the subject or trade deals with classified government info
TemporallyAwry: Heck, in california there's apparently no IP protection that keeps a programmer for "rebuilding a program from memory." Which sorta just blew me away to learn.
ANeMzero: @Pteraspidomorphi Garden leave is good, non-compete sucks.
TheMerricat: @mtvcdm That's actually not uncommon. It was a bankruptcy sale when Epix went under so BMG might have just purchased them as 'assets to sit on'
JadedCynic: oh WOW
GrassVortex: he had access to some servers, that he had setup up without permission. And then deleted them when confronted
BrowneePoints: That sounds like a Nexon Exec burnt some bridges with that cancellation
GrassVortex: so it looks *bad* for him
drcthulu: that's going to be hard to prove
Lord_Hosk: for the 30th anniversary?
: No Lego Waffle Maker?
BrowneePoints: The Tornado!
iris_of_ether: SO. CUTE.
mtvcdm: The original fox friend
saucemaster5000: tails has too many tails.
GrassVortex: ok, this looks neat
BrowneePoints: It's a Lego Tornado!
iris_of_ether: The animals!
Foxmar320: I have the old Sonic Lego set. It’s really good
mtvcdm: Nope, Monkey Ball
CAKHost: I like the one that is a semi-return of Classic Littlest Pet Shop
BrowneePoints: a Mini Green Hill Zone
Pteraspidomorphi: No lego lava reef?
: That will break at least one window or glass
TemporallyAwry: I didn't realize Tails "real" name was a pun until Foxmar explicitly spelled it out for me. And now it's stuck in my head months later.
ANeMzero: Green Hill and Legally Distinct Emerald Hill
mtvcdm: I can't wait for a kid to just palm the monkey ball and just huck it screaming 'GOTTA GO FAST'
BrowneePoints: There's a Lip on it
BrowneePoints: a small lip, but a lip
TheMerricat: @TemporallyAwry "Miles Per Hour" ?
PMAvers: Someone get James’ credit card
Foxmar320: Yeah out of my price range
PMAvers: For science.
BrowneePoints: I kinda want that LEGO Tornado
JadedCynic: I remember when I started in a call center that outsourced cust svc to florida broadband internet customers (when broadband was new) and the local florida cust svc employees were laid off, they reset all the customers' passwords and deregistered modems and equipment, so a lot of our florida customers were pissed at the company, and assumed we were the locals "I'm gonna drive over there and blow up your building - I know where you work!" I think customs & border control will have an issue there
IzlanntheLion: The LOTR is awsome
fiftymcnasty: In the moonbase obviously
BrowneePoints: didnt' James buy the LEGO Rivendell?
TheMandrew: I just finished Rivendell, it's amazing
SquareDotCube: but it's not 50+ pink frogs
Pteraspidomorphi: It could happen
BrowneePoints: I vaguely remember James purchasing LEGO Rivendell and mentioning building it on TTSF sometime
TemporallyAwry: @TheMerricat Yup. my brain had somehow always read it as Prower not Power.
BrowneePoints: BOMB RUSH CYBERFUNK DATE!
BrowneePoints: sorry I got excited
: typo* (reverse that)
CaptainSpam: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk's got a release date.
mtvcdm: Crime O'Clock looked cool too.
grax_strife: Rift of the Necrodancer
BrowneePoints: Blasphemous 2 Announcement
SquareDotCube: Also Rift of the Necrodancer so we got a new Rhythm Cafe game
: Everytime people talk about Bombrush, I get confused thinking it's a new Cyberpunk DLC.
BrowneePoints: and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk's release date were BIG. and Rift of the Necrodancer
saucemaster5000: shovel knight was the best investment many people accidentally made
iris_of_ether: Oooh Necrodancer
FuzBubbles: I saw Cult of the Lamb is getting dlc.
BrowneePoints: It's like a boss battle rpg with a guitar hero track?
BrowneePoints: it's almost like Rhythm Heaven-y
: there was that cute looking cat game
BrowneePoints: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk finally getting a release date randomly plopped in the sizzle reel
CaptainSpam: Awwwwwwww yeah.
BrowneePoints: Team Reptile did
BrowneePoints: with Nakamura back on the soundtrack
: That's the epitome of "the name of a thing describes the thing"
nevermore913: Paper trail could be interesting
BrowneePoints: oh Animal Well
BrowneePoints: Dunkey's game
mtvcdm: Animal Well
Koios7: its the first game he's publishing, right?
BrowneePoints: apparently it's really good
BrowneePoints: from folks who got to play the preview months ago
BrowneePoints: It's a very stylized Metroidvania
: Yes .. Silksong is soon™
saucemaster5000: Weird, they said they'd release it to everyone except (checks notes) someone named... lunar.. jade?
: I'd rather "never" than "bad" at this point.
Lysander_salamander: too much game
nevermore913: Silksong will be shown by Microsoft it's day 1 gamepass
PMAvers: “Silksong’s out today… and it’s now a card game.”
BrowneePoints: yea watch MicroSoft shadow drop it on gamepass like Hi FI Rush
IzlanntheLion: Chose between your children
Lysander_salamander: a card-battler match-3
: Hollow Knight came out right around BotW. Wouldn't be new
Lord_Hosk: My uncle.. who works at nintendo... told me that silksong is already done and he was going to let me play it at his house when we go over on tuesday
iris_of_ether: I could use another Murder by Numbers honestly
LRRbot: Next scheduled stream: Rhythm Cafe (Heather and Ian continue their never-ending quest to play ALL THE RHYTHM GAMES! Game: Hi-Fi Rush) at Sun 04:00 PM PDT (55m from now).
CAKHost: Thanks for the stream!
: given that the murder by numbers studio made Fall Guys and then got by Epic to continue making Fall Guys forever.. that won't happen
: LRR has an official Discord server! And you don't even need to be subbed or anything! You can join here: https://discord.gg/lrr

Eggmojii: First chillpoint. This was chill.
Snowcookies: thanks for the stream
CAKHost: Wear the LRR advertisements with pride!
Invitare: they also made The Evil Within 2
Lord_Hosk: Thats why I wanted to give you all the heads up in case you wanted to tear it to shreads and not wait for mailtime
RockPusher: I see what Beej did there…
mtvcdm: Wanna take that again?
: Specific words were actually "doing lines" not just a Beej
saucemaster5000: Can't ride white horse club
CaptainSpam: Eh, lines are more take 'em or leave 'em.
Decaped: You draw the lines and then you draw the spaces between the lines and then you're done!
TimIAm: Yayyy Jackbox stream
TemporallyAwry: Jack Box - Omni-Box
BrowneePoints: Loading Ready Box?
LRRbot: In the box is: consciousness and it wishes it weren't a box
TimIAm: Shop wheeler onto the Jack Box guy, perfect logo
Snowcookies: more legends
BrowneePoints: Squad based Action Strategy...thing
BrowneePoints: Oh this game is WEIRD
BrowneePoints: it's a REALLY weird game
nevermore913: Wait what
BrowneePoints: Heather got hit with the Scholastic Quiet Game
jessieimproved: that's a pro grandma
TemporallyAwry: I knew someone that had primary school teacher give the homework of "write all the fractions that reduce to 1/2" ... and yeah. They were serious.
BrowneePoints: @TemporallyAwry so...half of all numbers in existence?
mtvcdm: There's also shop class and the Emo Kids
TemporallyAwry: @BrowneePoints Yeah, best they could figure is it was a "test" for the parents.
BrowneePoints: There's Social Links
jpost042: depends what you consider the "main" plot
BrowneePoints: and Side XCOM bits
ghyllnox: It's also a Friendship Sim
BrowneePoints: there's Main Story Missions and Side Missions
BrowneePoints: Someone better bring Donuts
: If they don't bring in donuts, the Bit-Riot will demand donuts
BrowneePoints: someone splurge for some good Cake Donuts
: It's probably fake donuts
mtvcdm: Or let's not?
GrassVortex: oh no
: Not just me this time!
Juliamon: Congrats subscribers, you killed it
BrowneePoints: the donuts were too powerful
TheMerricat: Okay I was worried that my internet went down but obviously not.
mtvcdm: What a weird spot to cut out, rigt before the sub welcomes
Snowcookies: this stream ending is officially cursed
: Not the first time that broke the stream
