Hi friends!
DigitalSeahorse:
ads
DigitalSeahorse: Lol
HbombAndFriends: I haven’t caught a TTSF in awhile. Hi, friends.
Arclight_Dynamo: Okay chat - are Zords Zoids? Discuss.
patbaer: "fun" fact: America got the 2nd Zoids anime New Century first, and then later got the Chaotic Century (split into two seasons).
Gophersaurus: And then didn't get all of the third anime Fuzors, even though the full series did get broadcast in other countries such as Australia
RockPusher: That is a hefty box
patbaer: @Gophersaurus yup!
RandomTrivia: @Arclight_Dynamo That seems like the kind of grenade I don't want to pull the pin out of
Juliamon: Anime involving mechs has a tough time in the US for some reason
Nigouki: it's furry mecha :V
saucemaster5000: robots are too advanced for the US. We're still working out if the camera takes our soul or not
Xafty: Zoids rock, the anime is mid
Nigouki: Zoids are having their 40th anniversary this year
Gophersaurus: I have built /many/ Zoids
patbaer: some Zoids kits "walk" around via batteries. They're neat
DaxStrife: And the original zoid: Freaka.
DeM0nFiRe: Zoids was decently big in the US like 10+ years ago I think?
RandomTrivia:
@patbaer
Xafty: Zoids was on toonami, so yeah, they were big
Gophersaurus: Uh, five actually
RealGamerCow: good lord that box is thicc
sangloupmon_xantibody: Dinosaur time!?
patbaer: No problem. There was a new series in 2018 called Zoids WILD. I did not watch it!
RandomTrivia: That looks satisfying to open
Lushian_Cybasi: Funny thing the zoid being built is an alt form o fBerserk Fury
7gorobei: the original gen 1 and 2 were spring windup actuated
munocard: I've heard Zoids described best as "Gunpla but furry".
lamina5432: More than two. Some are good watches
Xafty: 1/72
Gophersaurus: Zoids Chaotic Century, Zoids New Century, Zoids Fuzors, Zoids Genesis, Zoids Wild
SquareDotCube: The Tyranns are kind of the Zakus of the series, with the Lygers being akin to the RX series
Xafty: i believe all the modern zoid kits are 1/72
Gophersaurus: I really enjoyed Genesis, even though it didn't get an English dub
OhaiMireiya: hurro frens =3
OhaiMireiya: D= Zoids!
patbaer: Genesis was good, yeah
SymphonicLolita: kotobukiya is good
Lushian_Cybasi: Chaotic Century Intro Music just popped into my head
RealGamerCow: What is the insert page?
RandomTrivia: Ok having a sprue map is very clever
sangloupmon_xantibody: I have complex feelings about kotobukia
Xafty: @sangloupmon_xantibody same
RealGamerCow: ah the "oops I cut the wrong sprue" sheet
SK__Ren: GW, take notes. Let us order replacement bits
Gophersaurus: @Lushian_Cybasi Wild flowers was such a good OP
munocard: My understanding is Kotobukiya's kits aren't quite as "foolproof" as Bandai's, but I haven't had the pleasure of building one myself to speak with any first hand experience
Gophersaurus: I've built several of Kotobukiya's HMM Zoids and not had any issues, but I've also never built a Gundam
AWells44: Very little undergating
patbaer: I've only built the smaller zoids kits but had good luck with them
Xafty: undergating is important fo any model kit that has a "coating"
munocard: Yes, undergating is key to hiding nub marks without requiring sanding and painting
RandomTrivia: Looking forward to another model-assembly series that runs for [redacted] episodes
HbombAndFriends:
Hey, @patbaer. I thought I might see you in here tonight.
Nigouki: I prefer Kotobukiya because they will put the accuracy of the design first and foremost, even if they have to sacrifice user-friendliness for that. Bandai puts TOO much attention the ease-of-build and gimmicks which often leaves accuracy by the wayside.
patbaer: @HbombAndFriends but of course.
sangloupmon_xantibody: as a lifelong tyranid fan I am glad to see some 20 year old kits get replaced this summer
RockPusher: It's an older tech, but it checks out
munocard: Weirdly enough, the Bandai X-Wing kits include waterslide decals. I also got waterslide decals with my clear outer parts P-Bandai kit for the PG Unleashed RX-78 2
Lithobraker: On low resolution twitch I can't tell if this gundams or farsight enclaves tau battle suit
RandomTrivia: Ooooooooh
Juliamon: Lithobraker It's neither!
Xafty: @munocard yeah, they seem to be common with a lot of p-bandai stuff
Arclight_Dynamo: Keep Talking and Nobody Goes Ka-Plamo
patbaer: building without a runner.... NO
sangloupmon_xantibody: especially If you use micro set and micro sol. waterslides are a lot nicer than stickers
patbaer: I don't want that
Xafty: using the runner numbers? easy as hell, no runner numbers? nearly impossible
Landstradd: think of the poor model though! what did it ever do to deserve that?
KeytarCat: Dextrose and Glucose are the adhesive for water slide decals
RealGamerCow: That very distinct crinkle of Japanese cellophane
asddsa28: just get a diss dryer
asddsa28: dish*
OhaiMireiya: @RealGamerCow I was just enjoying the crinkle sounds =3
sangloupmon_xantibody: when you have a rg level kit with 10+ frames, that sounds nice
asddsa28: yeah
GDwarble: A
asddsa28: o no
sangloupmon_xantibody: oh NO
GDwarble: Ah, the Sarazanmai runner
RandomTrivia:

CAKHost: Neat
drdngr: ran out of letters AND numbers
patbaer: I appreciate that Bandai does XA and XB
Juliamon: I think we found one of Kotobukiya's contentious choices
Arclight_Dynamo: There is so much Unicode available, why *ever* double characters?
KeytarCat: So what do the different codes mean??
GDwarble: Bandai kits tend to use katakana for sticker labeling, not so much runners
Gophersaurus: Yeah the last HMM I built was the Liger Zero Panzer and it went into the katakana runners
patbaer: I've never seen that.
sangloupmon_xantibody: the easy solution is to go full mark and spend weeks watching all of zoids
SnackPak_:

RandomTrivia: OH NO
KeytarCat: I broke a chair because I didn't know there were different size screws...
DEATHlikescats: This is like the abyss wire cutting thing where the phosphorus light completes
DaxStrife: Put it in H!
DEATHlikescats: *completely changes the color of the wires
SquareDotCube: Reminds me of when HP would use M1 and M3 for their screw standard in their laptops.
HbombAndFriends: No, don’t put it in me!
munocard: Ian, do you use the file folder stand method of sorting runners?
OhaiMireiya: *crinkle crinkle* =3
DEATHlikescats: Hobby asmr
Arclight_Dynamo: Runner anarchy.
Nigouki: just spread them out alphabetically on the table
Arclight_Dynamo: Just Gundam wining it.
Arclight_Dynamo: *winging
Mazrae: Hello everyone
munocard: Yes, it's a MASSIVE HG
Xafty: 1/144 scale
Gophersaurus: Kotobukiya HMM are the most detailed Zoids kits, yeah
GDwarble: High Grade: the lowest grade for most models they make
munocard: HG and RG are the same scale 1/144, but RGs are significantly more detailed, and can include certain parts that use multiple injection processes.
Lysander_salamander: hello everyone
Xafty: the nightingale is a big mobile suit. to make an MG of it would be...expensive
AWells44: Andrew and roommate say hi
Xafty: same for the neo zeong and the dendrobium
Nigouki: styrene
GDwarble:
@Xafty The cowards should make a PG of it. Also the Denobrium.
adambomb625: The question is how many episodes will this model build take
Dog_of_Myth gifted a Tier 1 sub to Xafty! They have given 1234 Gift Subs in the channel!
LRRbot:
Thanks for subscribing, Xafty! (Today's storm count: 30)
KeytarCat: Does the Dendrobium have anything to do with trees?
Arclight_Dynamo: Trying to figure it out in a way that makes sense to me, an HG Gundam kit is about the same scale as N-scale model railroads. Not 100% right, but close.
GDwarble: ABS is what LEGO is made out of, it's very tough, but you can't use most paints on it 'cause alcohol doesn't play nice with it
Nigouki: styrene can be スチレン or スチロール for extra confusion
Xafty: @Dog_of_Myth Thanks for the gift sub!
Gophersaurus: Congrats on the 1234 gift subs @Dog_of_Myth
rosesmcgee: Does it have the wind up motor, that was the coolest part of my old Zoids
Xafty: @KeytarCat its the final version of a series of mobile suits with names based around trees/plants
Gophersaurus: The HMM ones aren't motorised, no. They're more poseable though
munocard: Yes, which is why you want to prime any gunpla kits that you're going to use lacquer based panel line fluid on.
KeytarCat: @KeytarCat Oh good, I was afraid it was just weird
Arclight_Dynamo: Ah-ha! Apparently, some Japanese N-scale trains are exactly 1:144, so the scale is exactly the same as HG Gunpla.
patbaer: lots of people advice to avoid using Gundam Markers on ABS as well
7gorobei: the original Tomy Zoids are windup kit toys, the HMM are more of a pure model kit
Arclight_Dynamo: Which means if you want to see how big Ian's Nightingale is, hold a Japanese N-scale locomotive up to it. That is a *big* robot.
jessieimproved: ka
Xafty: @Arclight_Dynamo ill say this much, while the scale is 1/144 on the boxes, not all gundams are perfectly done to correct scale
SymphonicLolita: ka first
munocard: It's in that Polyphia ABC song.
GDwarble: La li lu le lo
jessieimproved: a, then ka, the sa
empyreon: a ka sa ta na?
KeytarCat: @munocard there's a lot in that song
Arclight_Dynamo: @Xafty I mean, same is true of rail models, sooo... shrug?
Nigouki: k, s, t, n, h, m, y, r, w
Xafty: @Arclight_Dynamo fair enough
fiinnnaaaaannnnnnnn: we building giant robots today chat?
SymphonicLolita: run that baby through google translate and call it a day
munocard: I mean, the Bandai Entry Grade kits have the parts sorted by model region
Nigouki: I have run into a bunch of kits where there is no letter, just ongoing numbers from runner to runner....
wedge_x: QR code
Arclight_Dynamo: Every part should have an RFID chip.
GDwarble: SHA256 to avoid malicious tampering
Arclight_Dynamo: Models exist on a spectrum. Snap-fit on one end, North American glue-together models in the middle, and resin 3D printing on the other end as it is *all* glue.
Nigouki: Vacuum formed models are the best cuz they're "Here's a general shape, do all the detail and reinforcement yourself"
LordZarano: Sudoku too can use any 9 symbols, the fact that it uses digits 1 to 9 is purely for convenience
Arclight_Dynamo: I wonder what skips the speedmodelling community has found?
TemporallyAwry:
SpeedRunners in every hobby
Xafty: i can build an HG in about 3 hours. and i enjoy doing it that fast. RGs and MGs take a lot more time, and i also enjoy taking that time on them
jessieimproved: Once my kids grow up and leave, I am going to build incredibly detailed Victorian dollhouses very slowly
Dezufnocosem: reach enlightenment low%
saucemaster5000: doing things less efficiency is how you become more holy

kakmize: Titans from Attack on Titan are Mechs
noSmokeFire: "what is a robot?" is actually a good question to start an argument in the IRL robotics community
confracto: Wanzer (walking panzer)
Xafty: mobile suit and mobile armor. i still dont understand the difference
Arclight_Dynamo: From Wiki, at least: "Mechas differ from robots in that they are piloted from a cockpit, typically located in the chest or head of the mech."
Wrexadecimal: @confracto Ah, a Front Mission fan!
SymphonicLolita: it comes with a little man??? value
patbaer: Zoids require a little guy though some seem to have a soul / they're alive (depending on the series)
LordZarano: (1/72)^3 by volume
Dezufnocosem: what is 1/72nd of a man? a miserable 1/72nd pile of secrets
confracto: that's a miserably small pile
CAKHost: Thanks for the stream! Good night everyone
TemporallyAwry: !phrasing
saucemaster5000: do you want an anatomic model?
LordZarano: @LordZarano 1/373248 of a man
Gophersaurus: It's the Zoid Core
Gophersaurus: Basically the heart/power source of the Zoid
sangloupmon_xantibody: halfway through a kit is a good time to learn that it's based off an older kit and one sprue has the same letter and updated parts
OhaiMireiya: yay \o/
Wrexadecimal: ooh, fun trivia
sangloupmon_xantibody: not this kit don't have experience with it, but definitely a koto kit I've built before

Xafty: hind-brains
TemporallyAwry: Octopodes have some wild multi-core sub-processing
RockPusher:
Like those firetrucks with a rear driver
Arclight_Dynamo: The Smithsonian has it that the dino-butt-brain is a myth.
TheNerdWonder: I believe that was debunked, yes
sangloupmon_xantibody: humans technically have a dual core processor
munocard: I thought it was Triceratops wasn't real.
tidehollowcat: It is real, though
DEATHlikescats: Yes!
Juliamon: It was real, then not real, then real again
Arclight_Dynamo: @munocard I think they re-made it real.
saucemaster5000: please, humans aren't real
DEATHlikescats: And then they discovered that it wasn’t quite wrong
saucemaster5000: there's a great board game where you can make dinosaurs but get them wrong and sell them for money anyways
LordZarano: Don't humans have a bundle of nerves around the stomach that's brain-like?
DEATHlikescats: @lordzarano kinda yeah, the sympathetic nervous system
munocard: Really really educated guesses
confracto: ^
DEATHlikescats: Exactly!
Xafty: human hearts have their own control system as well
KeytarCat: @LordZarano We have so many nerves all over, we're made to experience! Or that's how I choose to live
munocard: How do we know the universe is constantly expanding? Math!
DEATHlikescats: @arclight_dynamo what a magnificent kitbash!
LordZarano:
@Arclight_Dynamo
That's incredible!
munocard: Bandai is really good about highlighting nubs you don't want to cut that might look "cuttable"
DEATHlikescats: How?!
DEATHlikescats: We’re they doing dentistry with them?
munocard: Yes, don't use your godhand straight onto the clear plastic parts. They're very sharp, and very brittle
sangloupmon_xantibody: everything wears with use
kakmize: what is the subreddit, because.... reasons
kakmize: @Juliamon Thankyou
Arclight_Dynamo: Not even, like, r/GodHandSlayers?
munocard: Yes, that is accurate. /r/gunpla will regularly have broken god hands posted too
aitsu100: oooo Zoids i just finished my Liger Zero build it was fun
munocard: Maybe on a leg?
RockPusher: r/AttackandDethroneGodHands
patbaer: maybe you'd see that line on a HG leg
munocard: Just needs some tamiya ultra thin cement
Nigouki: It's ok for a company to have faith in the end user
DEATHlikescats: @munocard thanks for the info. Clear is the good hand Achilles heel
Arclight_Dynamo: @Nigouki ...have you *met* end users?
DEATHlikescats: !break
LRRbot: Remember chat, break time for the streamer means break time for YOU, so unclench, get up, stretch, walk about a bit, and maybe get a drink or go to the toilet if you need to. Don't forget to wash your hands!
munocard: @DEATHlikescats Yeah, the clear plastic is MUCH more rigid and tough to cut through. My method is a cheap crappy pair of nippers to remove the part plus nub, and then trim the nub with the expensive godhands
Nigouki:
@Arclight_Dynamo well this is for recreation, not something critical
SK__Ren: I prefer to sand the nub rather than risk clouding the plastic from any sort of stress from clipping
RockPusher: Breathes pew pew pew
excalgold: that is a large kit
LordZarano: Robot dinosaurs that shoot beams when they roar
Juliamon: e
Nigouki: エ!?
mercano82: I thought X was Speed Racer’s long lost brother.
empyreon: it goes in the エ hole
Arclight_Dynamo: That's not an X. It's a chi.
LordZarano: Organised according to the IPA chart
mercano82: One is labeled as Canadian Eh? and another as Fonzi Ayyy!
excalgold: @mercano82 *speaking too quickly* dont be silly! Racer X looks nothing like Race Racer, the older brother of speed Racer who was lost in a tragic accident! it is silly to think such things HAHA!
excalgold: Rex Racer even.....almost had it
RockPusher: Bjork - not Enya
tenthtechpriest: wait it is?
saucemaster5000:
@excalgold I appreciated it
RockPusher: The cat is Bjorks husband
mercano82: I wouldn’t put it past an anime dub to name a character Race Racer.
DaxStrife: That does track with Ian mistaking celebrities for other celebrities.
excalgold: i mean an American cartoon named a guy Race Bannon....though Race was a nickname
SnackPak_: @RockPusher A sentence that is totally normal when talking about Bjork
TheMerricat: Waterslide paper is an ultrathin decal paper that has a water activated adhesive on the back of it.
TheMerricat: Bleh, clipboard failure
saucemaster5000: don't use waterslide paper to slide down the waterslide. The park may sue you for graffiti
munocard: GundamPlanet I believe makes their own guillotine style nippers.
mercano82: Now I want to see Ian using the mini guillotine, most recently from this week’s Crapshot, to cut out parts.
saucemaster5000: we're done yeah
eshplode: Oh yeah, I've gotta do that on the weekend
DaxStrife: Warning: Loading Ready Run are not accountants, do not take their tax advice.
Lysander_salamander: hello everyone!
mercano82: I got a refund. I spent it on next season’s ski pass.
Krokaar: I saw the thumbnail and I have never clicked on a link faster....
saucemaster5000: love that tax day fell on a holiday in the states, so everything was like... "well, you got an extra few days. don't tell anyone"
SquareDotCube: "Extremely complicated" he says having built a perfect grade
Nigouki: there's dozens of single blade nippers at this point from pretty much every big manufacturer and lots you've never heard of before
excalgold: Did Paul just explain the concept of an Organoid ?
SnowBuddy18: but if you earned money, and the government already took their tax, and you have refunds coming, then you don't owe money
excalgold: a dinosaur piloting a dinosaur!
munocard: That's kinda sick
Lysander_salamander: that's pretty cool
saucemaster5000: Huh. Ian makes good head
RockPusher: It's called diapers Paul
excalgold: Paul Anime characters dont use the restroom!
Wrexadecimal: yup
munocard: double action cockpit probably means less likely to have a functioning ejection seat
excalgold: except to shower and have a moment of crisis
AWells44: You need to at least do some panel lining
LathosTiran:
to eject the jaw falls off
SnackPak_: that scene is so good
mercano82: That’s why space shuttle astronauts wear diapers.
Arclight_Dynamo: If you ever read the transcripts of Apollo missions, there are some *choice* conversations in the capsule about zero-G turd incidents.
sangloupmon_xantibody: murphy's law rearing it's inevitable head
Arclight_Dynamo: The Apollo solution for solid waste was a plastic bag shaped like a top hate, with an adhesive along the brim to stick to your rear as you let rip.
Nigouki: polycaps generally polyethylene
Arclight_Dynamo: *top hat
Nigouki: it's softer and completely unpaintable unless you use some REALLY cancerous chemicals
munocard: Polystyrene Capulet. They're diametrically opposed to Acrylic Montagues.
sangloupmon_xantibody: it helps keep balljoints tight
LordZarano: @mercano82 Yup, the MAG - Maximum Absorbency Garment, which were made specially for NASA. Nowadays they use commercial adult diapers though
Shadwhawk: Polycaps are made from polyethylene. Polycarbonate is very stiff and fairly brittle.
munocard: There are regularly kits that share similar runners.
excalgold: i know a lot of them have a near identical polycap thing
munocard: This is also why you'll find Bandai kits that have parts on the runner that you DON'T USE because they're used on a different kit instead.
DrLigmaPhD: And thus kitbashing got more toys
TheNerdWonder: I ran into that with one of the Eva Godzilla mechs. Confused the heck out of me
excalgold: BINGO! *waves card in the air*
Arclight_Dynamo: I'm looking forward to the inevitable kitbash stream.
munocard: It's certainly one of the most involved builds you've done on here.
Zanzabar_:
My current kit comes with exactly the number of screws and bolts that are required so if I lose one Im
munocard: Amuro had the Hi-Nu instead of the Nu
excalgold: some day i'll get a GM Sniper....and a GP-02
munocard: Also, FYI folks, P-Bandai just started taking preorders for funnel effects for the RG Hi-Nu this week.
SnowBuddy18: Otaku Mech
excalgold: @Zanzabar_ building the GP-01fb i sent the chin flying across the room trying to put it in the head......so my only gundam is chinless
Wrexadecimal: Ever hear of "For The Barrel"? It's an *incredibly obtuse* reimagining of OG Gundam.
RockPusher: Are there any crow mechs? I could see Ian being a fan of a crow mech…
excalgold: i do not know of any crow themed zoids

RockPusher: Wonder if there is a crapshot in the concept of a head-Cameron
Wrexadecimal:
Happy to be *that guy*
excalgold: Bandai's 30 minute mission stuff looks...interesting
DrLigmaPhD: Resin printing is beautiful, speaking as a user
munocard: The Gundam Artifact miniatures are really nice resin kits.
Wrexadecimal: @excalgold I like the concept! 30MM is how I got one of my friends who has a hard time with wanting to build models and managing their spoons back into gunpla.
excalgold: @Wrexadecimal they looks like virtual-on bots which appeals to me a lot

Arclight_Dynamo: Huh. Speaking of, Hackaday has a link to a deburring tool for models/3D prints for, like, fifteen bucks at Amazon.
sangloupmon_xantibody: JUNE
7gorobei: resin kits are generally small production run, as they use silicone molds that degrade and wear with each casting. they were originally done in small garages in japan until the market grew large enough to be a real business
sangloupmon_xantibody: So excited for remastered bugs
SK__Ren: lol G Gundam
munocard: Tequila Gundam!
excalgold: G-gundam is bonkers, i love it
Melfina__: G gundam is best gundam
DrLigmaPhD: Robo hunger games
excalgold: and a revolver!
munocard: American Gundam has a football helmet and boxing gloves
7gorobei: G-gundam the street fighter of mecha
MrSarkhan: G Gundam is in fact nuts
MrSarkhan: I loved it
Zanzabar_: I heard G gundam was gloriously jank
munocard: The Swiss gundam is a giant windmill
Gophersaurus: Did you ever see Kishin Taisen Gigantic Formula back in the 00s?
Lord_Hosk: Wasn't that the movie Robot Jox?
Juliamon: "only a little racist" is kinda understating it
Gophersaurus: That was also a individual countries battle with their mechs show, with some amazing designs
munocard: They made an excellent God Gundam RG kit last year.
excalgold: NetherGundam was the winner of that series as i recall...because it hid as a Windmill for the entire fight ?
Wrexadecimal: good ol windmill gundam
Shadwhawk: Nah, it's got pretty normal Gundam feet
SnackPak_: art
Driosenth: The Nether Gundam does not have wooden feet, unfortunately
Snowcookies: omg
munocard: HELL YES
munocard: I want to see this kit!
MrSarkhan: That's amazing! I would love to have a kit of that
excalgold: the spanish gundam is a giant bulls head....
TalecArashi: sturm tyrann... I always wanted one of these
munocard: Nether Gundam and Tequila Gundam are the two popular "meme" Gundam
excalgold: dont forget the Beam Rapier
DrLigmaPhD: Does... Does the Netherlands shoot tulips?
flamewave7: Joker Gundam was my favorite. It's a giant head being held up by balloons.
munocard: The Canadian one is Lumber Gundam, and it is a giant lumberjack
munocard: He's got axes on his arms
MechaKuuga: Its always sad when the polycaps give out in the model kits
the_card_father: I’m so excited to see this. Zoids was a piece of my childhood that NO ONE seems to have remembered. To this day I still want an Elephander. Lol.
munocard: IIRC, Bandai's injection molding system is intentionally designed to kinda look like White Base from original Mobile Suit Gundam.
samwiser_: @the_card_father i absolutley loved zoids, can agree.
Wrexadecimal:
@the_card_father I definitely caught some Zoids on Cartoon Network.
Gophersaurus: @the_card_father The Elephander was awesome, it's a shame they haven't made a new version of the model since the '99 line
Arclight_Dynamo: @munocard That Gundam also appears to be wearing a Mountie tunic.
the_card_father: @samwiser_ I watched New Century Zero with Bit Cloud and them (It’s fully on YouTube somewhere) and the one where the girl fused with the dinosaur.
the_card_father: @wrexadecimal New Century Zero (the one from VT) is on YouTube somewhere.
Evil_John_Cena: I remember I had a kit like this, and my sister's boyfriend accidentally sat on it and I couldn't fix it
Gophersaurus: @the_card_father That's Chaotic Century, where they had Organoids that could fuse with the Zoids
Evil_John_Cena: I can't remember if it was this zoid or a different one
excalgold: the US navy has two prototype Metal 3D Printers they are testing - one at a base and one on a ship to see the differences in prints
the_card_father: @gophersaurus I have worked so hard to have the wife and kids. If I get the Elephander too I’ll just be spoiled. And my kid my break my Elephander. Lol.
munocard: The weird concrete injectors?
SplittingImage77: My first Zoid was a Dark Horn, which I got for my 4th grade birthday
Wrexadecimal: I had a very small zoids kit back in the 90s - back when they were brought to the US under the name "Technozoids". It was a motorized one too!
Gophersaurus: @the_card_father Yeah, I'm a little worried about what's going to happen to my Zoids models when my kids get big enough to reach them...
munocard: Ram Dearth?
LordZarano: Relativity Space flew a rocket that was 85% 3D printed metal by weight
iris_of_ether: I would love that, haha
Zanzabar_: I hear a boxfan with a filter works wonders.
the_card_father: @splittingimage77 that was the black Styracasaurus (spelling?) right?
Nigouki: that won't ever be possible since you can't paint something without spraying particles you should not breathe
munocard: That reminds me, whatever happened to the Xurger King mask?
Nigouki: paint is a polymer and overspray is basically microplastics
SplittingImage77: Yep with the gatling gun on its back and it had a cool gunner sit with its tiny mini fig on the tail
the_card_father: @gophersaurus yeah. Eventually my “Dice Vault” might have to be literal at some point. Can’t have the kids dying on the shiny click clacks.
Zanzabar_: I just need to get over it and practice with my airbrush more often.
DoodlestheGreat: @LordZarano I watched that launch. Very clean. Launchpad stayed intact. >_<
SplittingImage77: Zoids was a big part of my childhood. I got really sick and so my parents got me kits to keep me busy in the hospital.
the_card_father: @splittingimage77 I got too excited that I remembered that perfectly. I think I even remember all the battles from that show. Wild what a brain can retain when you leave out messy stuff like what the mitochondria does. (I had to learn tax stuff, it’s my job, lol)
LordZarano: フ
DoodlestheGreat: If you sit on one of these, do you get hemmerzoids? ConcernDoge
SplittingImage77: One of my other Zoids that I fondly remember is my Gunblaster
the_card_father: @doodlesthegreat No. but you have the distinct pleasure of trying to explain to your doctor why there’s a weaponized dinosaur in your but.
Gophersaurus: @SplittingImage77 Oh the Gunblaster is so cool, that's another one I'd love to see get a new model. It's so shooty!
Arclight_Dynamo: See you for the final stream of this build in November 2024!
Gophersaurus: I will be here for as long as it takes, I'm loving getting to geek out about Zoids
DoodlestheGreat:
@the_card_father My sister used to be an ER nurse. A weaponized dino would be one of the LEAST bizarre things she's had to deal with in someone's rectum.
SmithKurosaki: @Arclight_Dynamo Rude
SmithKurosaki: Also, hi
Arclight_Dynamo:

Arclight_Dynamo: Hi!
7gorobei: i got into a big Zoid binge back in 2000, ordered a bunch from japan at a fair markup for shipping. a couple of years later kaybee toys would start importing english language versions for way cheaper. that stung a bit, but i eventually got a cheap mad thunder
the_card_father: @splittingimage77 @gophersaurus Elephander, then the Dibison. Just not Lena’s Gunsniper
SplittingImage77: I didn’t own any of the Liger models. I wanted an Iron Kong because the cockpit looked cool and the shoulder cannon looked cool.
RockPusher: DoodlestheGreat I imagine being inanimate would be a huge disqualifier from the bizarre stakes
SplittingImage77: I had Lena’s Gunsniper
the_card_father: @doodlesthegreat oh I know. It’s far from weirdest and worst the ER staff have dealt with; doesn’t mean it can’t be funny for them.
Gophersaurus: @SplittingImage77 I want to get a Shield Liger DCS-J, the extra shooty one
SplittingImage77: I had a Spinosapper. I remember seeing that episode.
the_card_father: @splittingimage77 her Gunsniper was just so busy. Too much.
the_card_father: @splittingimage77 as far as Liger. Jaegar or Schneider.
the_card_father: Anyways. That’s enough for me kids. It’s 10pm so that’s bedtime. If someone finds a solid Elephander or Dibison feel free to shoot me a message.
dyvion: I was just thinking that
SplittingImage77: @the_card_father I like Panzer haha
SplittingImage77: The thought of having heavy armor and weaponry and ,asking things count caught my interest as a kid.

Gophersaurus: @SplittingImage77 Same, I have the Panzer HMM kit, so many shooty bits
rosesmcgee: Culture wants to be shared!
SplittingImage77: I had a Command Wolf, but I also wanted a Shadow Fox. I remember being disappointed when Brad switched sides only to find out he was a double agent.
MechaKuuga: @LoadingReadyRun What Paul is talking about reminds me about how they actually have Japanese dubs of Power Rangers in Japan (with some of the original Super Sentai cast doing the voices)
cuzuki: new MG Zeta? 👀

Evil_John_Cena: the ver ka right?
Evil_John_Cena: go bots?
beastman309: The ZZ Ver Ka is still like a top build for me. Love that transformation
Orphio333: Bakugan
Earthenone: !findquote orb
LRRbot: Quote #4556: "'Ecstasy for the orb?' 'Joy to the world!'" —Kathleen and Beej [2017-12-16]
KeytarCat: One of the transformers I had was disguised as a planet
Evil_John_Cena: there was that little minicon thing that came with the unicron toy from armada
Gophersaurus: New 2001 Space Odyssey merch, Obelisk that transforms into HAL 9000
MechaKuuga: That's because the original transformers toys were a hodgepodge of Diaclone toys which were supposed to have pilots
Snowcookies: I remember watching an unaired pilot of an anime where kids turned into robots
MechaKuuga: Sometimes they just put a sticker with a face on it in a random spot on the transformer to make it more autonomous
niccus: oh *that*'s why skeletor is the way he is
KWardJenx: Thank you for the recommendation, Paul. I have the same reaction to The Toys that Made Us.
Gophersaurus: Paint it green, put a saddle on it
Evil_John_Cena: the narrator didn't bother me too much, but now that i know there's an option without a netflix sub required i'll take it
Orphio333: Never heard this version before haha
Snowcookies: !bgc
Juliamon: !bgc

Jimmy Hinson AKA "BigGiantCircles" makes chiptunes, which are featured during commercial breaks. His music, including LRR remixes and the soundtrack for Road Quest, is available here: https://biggiantcircles.bandcamp.com/music
Evil_John_Cena: big cannon
gualdhar: sure hope that wasn't loaded when I stuck my head in there
Orphio333: Thanks all
DoodlestheGreat: That _is_ one way to look at it.
Evil_John_Cena: I remember when Bandai started adding in what sprues were needed for what part, they got rid of that for some reason
Juliamon: I long for the day when that tech can be worked into affordable glasses frames.
RockPusher: !quote ian

TemporallyAwry:
It'll be great technology to have when we live in a better world. Just gotta work on getting there
TheVoxtric: everyone is a 1 take master
RockPusher:

Arclight_Dynamo: Schengen Area?
Juliamon: We used to have a caller ID that couldn't pronounce "Wayne"
Juliamon: which is... my dad's name
mercano82: "First, you open all 10 bags of Legos in the box, and make a pile..."
Juliamon: we would call him Wen if he got a phone call while at work
TemporallyAwry: hmm. I wonder how far off we are form "Building Gundam in VR" is a gratifying experience.
Nigouki: if Bandai make an app with 3D parts of their kits it then the bootleggers will rip out the 3D models and that'll make their crimes that much easier
TheVoxtric: I vaguely recall Lega having some "digital instruction booklets" for ipad type presentation where you could do some free rotation of a 3d model
TheVoxtric: lego** what a typo
Arclight_Dynamo: It scans your pieces then builds a bunch of things for you to actually builkd.
niccus: i'm imagining a weekly quiz where you try to identify a kit from a photo of the leftover runners
TheVoxtric: we've created a middle man
Evil_John_Cena: when in doubt glue
LordZarano: Labo had that with the instructions on the switch didn't it?
Juliamon: Flesh is bad at compacting things
DoodlestheGreat: Aren't we all, Ian?
gameslayer013:

TemporallyAwry: !findquote sponge
Juliamon: Lovely articulation
SquareDotCube: Kind of like how Rey's speeder bike looks like a fudge pop
MechaKuuga: Do they call it kitbashing?
gameslayer013: getting to see the flow models for each of these part groups would be fascinating
TheVoxtric: more like kitsch bashing
Arclight_Dynamo: The funny thing to me is when ILM makes models for, like, Star Trek... out of commercial Star Trek models.
DoodlestheGreat: It's gonna look like a collection of random bits until like, the last 10% of the build.
TheVoxtric: amazing staging
Gophersaurus: I've been really enjoying the puppetry videos, yeah
Gophersaurus: The interview with two of the fraggle rock puppeteers was so cool
Snowcookies: I recently saw the spirited away screen play and the puppeteering there is really good to watch
RockPusher: The Muppet performers are great - was in front row for a Muppets concert and it still didn't break the illusion
TemporallyAwry: I think the story about directors giving stage directions to the puppet and not the actor is pretty great too.
TheNerdWonder: @Snowcookies it really was! I loved the way they did the big heads
Arclight_Dynamo: Are you putting Kermit out of a job, Ian?
KWardJenx: We've seen Westworld, Ian. Doesn't go well for us.
Arclight_Dynamo: Chris Pratt as the entire cast of The Muppet Mario Movie.
Snowcookies: no one dies
Juliamon: Nothing bad ever happens with autonomous robots!
TheNerdWonder: I really want the muppets to go back to interpreting the classics. Those were some of their best movies
Arclight_Dynamo: Ah yes. The Muppets Walk Away from Omelas.
Zu_o: @TheNerdWonder The Muppets Present "The Princess Bride" starring Cary Elwes as Prince Humperdink.
Zu_o: it's the only one I'd accept
Zu_o: but also the original is good enough
Arclight_Dynamo: I think Muppets Robin Hood could work.
Zu_o: One of my favourite games is asking people "Name a movie and one actor from that movie, the rest of the cast will be replaced with muppets comprising the roles."
