LoadingReadyRun: Is this thing on?
Juliamon: The stream? No
LoadingReadyRun: No, I meant the chat
Juliamon: it's Schroedinger's chat, the answer is yes and no.
LoadingReadyRun: No one talked for a while and I got scared
: we were all just quietly staring at the title waiting for it to change
Juliamon: I was watching kittens
beowuuf: i'm listening/watching an album made in a day. i mean..one of the albums made in a day (there are multiple)
rubikdarkwill: I only just arrived
RockPusher: !search for treasure
LRRbot: You find: a Wandering Monster!
RockPusher adopts the wandering monster which appears to have been a kitten
TheMerricat: Well this is annoying. I just noticed that my computer's clock was off by over ten minutes... if my phone hadn't gone off I would still be messing around thinking I had another 15 min before the stream....
Angreed66: How does a computer get offset by 10 minutes?
Juliamon: It just happens sometimes
Angreed66: Aren't most synced with the atomic clock?
beowuuf: \[T]/ praise the phone
Juliamon: My last laptop had issues with syncing and had to be manually synced once a month
TheMerricat: @Angreed66 That's my question, esp since it's set to auto sync with the 'normal' time server and claimed the last successful sync was yesterday
TehAmelie: some server that uploads a webcomic i follow has slipped by 10 minutes like a year ago and keeps getting worse. . .
beowuuf: it's not constant, windows in the background keeps updating itself. My old desktop keeps drifting between checks and i have to manually tell it if i want to do some minecraft lan stuff
RockPusher: Clock drift happens - as does the occasional wrong time from a time server pool - but it is rare
beowuuf: refresh as needed
RockPusher: !quote beej
LRRbot: Quote #6036: "Vaccinate your kids, so you don't have to nuke them." —Beej [2019-05-09]
Azralorne: What are y'all doing here instead of playing Zelda? 😂
Juliamon: Azralorne Saving it for tomorrow!
: beej will play it for us tomorrow so we have free time
Azralorne: @juliamon lol fair enough
kusinohki: taking a zelda break so I can elliptical run while watching chill point... (ie, activating lurk mode)
saucemaster5000: Taking a zelda break for lunch myself
Azralorne: Lol I'm at the end of my Zelda lunch break
laundreydhull: Say, any chance a segment/way bringing up the ongoing WGA advocacy in Check/Chill: Point?
: I'm fairly sure Zelda isn't available on the platform I game on I do hope people are having fun with it though
memnus: I just finished Checkpoint and I will never have better LRR-related timing in my life
Azralorne: It's so good rockpusher! I am constantly cackling like a wild person
Juliamon: laundreydhull Does it affect game writers?
: wait, heather and beej are on?
laundreydhull: @Juliamon I don't... know.
saucemaster5000: I haven't played a switch in many years, need a pro controller -- the Borrowers would think these things are too small
Juliamon: Because this is specificaly gaming news, not general news
Azralorne: I don't believe game writers are in the WGA stuff
CanPlayGames: !card Island
LRRbot: Island | Basic Land — Island |
beowuuf: delayed movie/tv stuff might affect gaming tie-ins?
TheMerricat: @Azralorne Acccutually.... "The WGAW offers a simple, one-page Interactive Program Contract (IPC) that covers writing for videogames."
Azralorne: Oh wow
Azralorne: Good to know and also fuck
Juliamon: Well, if there's any news relevant to that, then sure, they could talk about it
laundreydhull: I mean, I am starting to write... "things" & don't mind being informed on the sideline.

Juliamon: James did a great thing
matthaus_c: James got encased in a copper coffin while he was out
beowuuf: and nothing. happened. while he was gone. nothing.

matthaus_c: ah, the strategy I used in written tests

Juliamon: Because Warner
DoodlestheGreat: He _is_ the villain from UHF.

Akaiatana: @LoadingReadyRun Backwards Competability

TemporallyAwry: Look Back, Lock Up, fix inverted-axis, waterfalls!
Lysander_salamander: I was so gleeful to teach my younger brother about that when he started playing videogames
saucemaster5000: I also love that the movie was clearly made by a 70 year old spielberg because so much of it took place at the overlook hotel. Y'know, from video games
OmnipotentTrevor: The puzzles in the book are indeed completely different
Bruceski: The term I learned for checking behind you and in places that had a tiny space between buildings and walls was "have you thought like Insomniac lately?" Spyro did a bunch of that
KeytarCat: @TemporallyAwry whatever inversion the axis starts in, it's wrong!

Earthenone: anyways Amazon

TheMerricat: Sometimes eating the dogfood isn't the best way to ensure you make good dog food.
Earthenone: maybe dave from the first story was assigned to the reveiw
Sarah_Serinde: I mean...there's also the possibility that when you're employed by the company to rate the product, you're worried about how things will go for you if you say the product is bad
Laserbeaks_Fury: Also, a game that's banking on the long tail of a Destiny style MMO is pretty hard to gauge.
TheMerricat: Microsoft is big enough that if it wanted to do mock review seriously they could just hold people from other studios to review their quote unquote competing studios games I don't understand why they wouldn't do that.
KeytarCat: @TheMerricat Because they aren't good at business?
saucemaster5000: maybe there was a typo and the review team read "Redwall" instead
betweenmyself: It remains to be seen if they put in the effort to try to correct course in the vein of Realm Reborn or No Man’s Sky.

ButButTheJesus: i'm reminded of parts of midi music dropping off temporarily in FF6 on SNES when certain sound effects would play

Spacecarl: Okay, naming it lockpick is maybe a bit bold
