Juliamon: Oh, there's a new gvlog!
TehAmelie: such expert timing
TehAmelie: kind of
Pteraspidomorphi: Huh. There are more new gvlogs than the expected 1, for me
beowuuf: have you not seen the mascot one yet? you're infor fun times. Sometimes with GUNS
Pteraspidomorphi: I will tomorrow, I guess
beowuuf:

Pteraspidomorphi: When there are no streams!
Pteraspidomorphi: Today I happen to be interested in the next two
beowuuf: it's amazing how sweaty the ear can get after holding a batery to your head for an hour and a half
Juliamon: It's a very good watch, even with the Lillehammer mascots
TehAmelie: i need someone to slap me whenever i use the Disco Elysium stick bug's line "violent, irrepressible miracle" to describe humanity. it's so good and i want to say it all the time.
beowuuf: "what is it?" "exactly"
Pteraspidomorphi: Wait actually
beowuuf: it's a good line, no slapping from here
Pteraspidomorphi: The schedule reads Oxenfree II but the title reads Civ 6, was there a change?
TehAmelie: but i'd overuse it
Juliamon: Maybe Cam wants to save it for Cori
Pteraspidomorphi: Ah, they're not back yet. Makes sense
beowuuf: that would be fair
Juliamon: They are back, but decompressing probably
beowuuf: will cameron be continuing his home dictionary style gamies? I think he was on 'E' last time I checked?
Juliamon: PAX takes a lot out of you
beowuuf: especially at four days now, and especially after a break from convensions
SnackPak_:

TehAmelie:

Astra7525: @goatprince If you play Inca, Earth goddess + preserves are insane. The Inca can work mountain tiles. Mountain tiles are ALWAYS breathtaking
goatprince: the tech shuffler game mode makes inspiration hunting less same-y every game, at least
goatprince: but it isn't good for high-tier play, since you can get screwed over for no reason
margieargie: Oh, uh, hey Alex
TheAinMAP:

Caffine1138: very much so
SnowBuddy18: yes
tod_vom_himmel: this arty style sure is an art style
Invitare: that armour is actually a corset
NorthstarTex: He is curled dorito shape
TehAmelie: maybe more like a bugle
loufghyslaufey: @margieargie gosh did Steady glow-up...
SquareDotCube: the inverted Liefeld
ArtemisHuntress: I was thinking that a number of the Baldur's Gate characters were also kinda dorito shaped
eff_the_bard: his armour has nipples
ArtemisHuntress: @eff_the_bard so did Batman's
goatprince: I love how Alexander lets his hair down in a reveal, and it's.... the worst haircut I've ever een
loufghyslaufey: What about the costume resembling the flag of Puerto Rico?
goatprince: and I can say that as someone who's had that haircut in the past
eff_the_bard: @ArtemisHuntress Azelxander is also not wearing hockey pads
GoodTimeSociety: big farquaad vibes
Invitare: could look like Marissa's hair
loufghyslaufey: Makes sense; hard to find a barber in his time? I'll bet?
SnowBuddy18: me, I will
goatprince: don't you want to eat one of your neighbours? it's only customary
JDogg2K4: I'm sure at some point he killed someone because he got angry
Juliamon: He would probably take the advice to heart, but also have you killed
Thandres: hair crimes can not be forgiven
goatprince: Alex is mad when you're NOT at war, so, I mean,
GreatWahooney: ooh, video game violence? my favourite
Astra7525: That's a nice pocket down there
Juliamon: I'm now envisioning the haircut intervention in the style of an Oglaf strip
Astra7525: btw. did you see Alexander already sent out his first settler?
goatprince: Alexander is classically bad at crossing and conquering rivers, right?
eff_the_bard: how long you got until Alexander dies of a fever in bed
Astra7525: ah okay, I was under the impression that he built another one that was sent in your direction
ThatGuyToj: those are gonna be a giant campus and holy site
Basic_Human_Decency: seems like you need to remove a tad more fog down there
WardsarTheWriter: Stone age urban planning is fun.
TehAmelie: we gotta fight the AI who plans cities based on future discoveries of resources that nobody even can fantasize about yet
WardsarTheWriter: They use dowsing rods, clearly.
TheAwkes: Oh, that's what his hair is. Alexander has hockey hair.
KINGKRU: i never have much success getting up wonders in the early game
Invitare: I feel like more of a particle today tbh
goatprince: we're all just doin' the wave in space
WardsarTheWriter: I remember the days of always losing stonehenge to Isabella in Civ 4.
KINGKRU: If I'm not an atheist, does that make me an atheist?
arkham1981: Sometimes I'm a particle in space. It depends on who is observing me.
bytecaster: @KINGKRU An a-atheist
KINGKRU: Heheh
AngryFil: atheism with some taxes sprinkled on it KKona
TehAmelie: i'm writing a story about gravity waves right now. feeling pretty wavy
empyreon:
ow, my thinker
goatprince: are you planning out any Great Wall chains?
goatprince: nice perk: they also give out a defensive bonus
WardsarTheWriter:
Alexander bravely ran away!
Duwani1: yep how they looked before all the limestone was stolen to build mosques
goatprince: they think you're cute
Red_Dead_Monkey: Because you are there
goatprince: and they don't know how to flirt
WardsarTheWriter: Artificial difficulty.
goatprince: you're a little birthday boy
AugmentingPath: Your seas are unprotected, friend. All too easy to raid.
WardsarTheWriter: Alexander declaring war. Who would've thought...
goatprince: you dare to try and eat us? too bad we're already hungry
WardsarTheWriter: The gods do not favour you.
bytecaster: @WardsarTheWriter Shouldn't have founded atheism I guess. Skill issue.
goatprince: wow what a gamer
Red_Dead_Monkey: Strike the Earth! for IRON
NorthstarTex: All the skill, Cam is best civ player.
goatprince: so you're going to successfully siege Bella in the next 7 turns right
Kuhfeek: all of them
WardsarTheWriter: You'll need a lot of big sticks for that.
Gekyouryuu: "we can probably take Alexandria." "so that's, what, 19 cities?"
goatprince: hate that you can't plant forests until late game, you have no recourse from droughts in the meantime
WardsarTheWriter: Oooh...
goatprince: don't you think they deserve a treat for their good work?
goatprince: except the iron mine!
Invitare: and it all happened AFTER you declared yourself against God. Coincidence? I think not
bytecaster: honse?
Gekyouryuu: @Invitare God: "if I flood them, they'll KNOW it was me... so I'll do the OPPOSITE! NO water!"
goatprince: rebellion means they'll attack Alex when they flip............... right?
ElektroTal: its funny cause i'm playing civ in another window and every time cam makes a snarky or disparaging remark i think he's talking about my game, lol
Juliamon: Perfect game, no notes
ThatGuyToj: a handful of bad olls in a row = gg
ThatGuyToj: rolls8
SkylerRingtail: What's the Dreadnought Problem?
goatprince: it's the Sega console problem
Juliamon: "You made this? I made this. But better."
SkylerRingtail: Ahhh
Inept_Hope: Kind of like the industrial revolution in Britain early had the same problem.
LordZarano: The reason for patents
ElektroTal: that is an absolutely *fantastic* and unproblematic way to discuss one of my favorite problematic sayings referring to the same concept
SkylerRingtail: That was a very good explanation. Thank you, Cameron
ElektroTal: "Pioneers get the arrows, settlers get the land"
KeytarCat: second mouse gets the cheese
bytecaster: How about second person?
Mangledpixel: ohhh that's why it was called Gemini. Only just got that.
Lord_Zath: o/
goatprince: doesn't your city tile also generate what it originally did?
Lord_Zath: I'd go copper personally
WardsarTheWriter: Good solid foundation.
MarcterChief: Rice seems good
Lord_Zath: Settling on copper gives you extra gold in your city center tile
Lord_Zath: and you have lots of hills within 2 tiles for production
goatprince: what I mean is your starting tile is 2food 2prod which is better than 2food 1prod
Lord_Zath: Sorry don't mean to backseat but I thought you were asking chat
Lord_Zath: ahhhhhh
goatprince: we here love money
Juliamon: We also have a cool thing called "hey chat"
Juliamon: !heychat
LRRbot: Please ONLY offer advice when the streamer uses the phrase "Hey, chat...". Let them try to learn the game on their own, even if it means they miss a thing or two.
Lord_Zath: yeah sorry that's what I thought was being done
ThatGuyToj: the droughts are back
WardsarTheWriter: Droughts are very in right now.
Juliamon: this game, so thirsty
ThatGuyToj: droughts are so hot
Inept_Hope: Is there a bug with two pieces of music overlapping rn?
Rourke9: jokes about droughts? call that dry humor
Gekyouryuu: all these droughts suggest that when you pass away, your empire will be torn apart by your children. that's what happens when too much son.
Inept_Hope: yea, had the same bug recently i think
goatprince: primocampus
ThatGuyToj:
the culdesac
goatprince: oh, holy site. nevertheless,
WardsarTheWriter: The Civ player in me sees campus/holy site. The LOTR nerd in me screams: "Helm's Deep!"
Rourke9: @Gekyouryuu i liked that joke
Gekyouryuu: @Rourke9 ty. :3
goatprince: you have the CN tower mod on, right?
Inept_Hope: The question now is, do you postpone discovering iron on the off chance that the resource messes up your very appetizing district placement
WardsarTheWriter: If there's a mod for that, it would give me a reason to play Canada again for a lark.
Gekyouryuu: Cam, off topic, in your opinion what's the better way to spell the names of the Greek Moirai/Fates? Atropos, Klotho, and Lakhesis or Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis? some folks I know are debating it heavily, because they're the enemies in the new Kamen Rider, and you seem more than well educated, so you'd probably know.
Gekyouryuu: ah, gotcha. yeah, helping QC subs for episode 1, and the Fates are the enemies while the good guys are alchemists.
Rourke9: sounds like alchemistic propoganda

WardsarTheWriter: I mean, the french word for a bow is "arc" right?
Haroldholmes25: cool cliffs
WardsarTheWriter: Money solves everything.
Gekyouryuu: oh, here's a dumb joke that just popped into my head: "why'd you quit that game? I thought you said you found the Cliffs of Dover really early?" "no, the starting tiles all sucked. I said I found the Cliffs of Do-Over."
BalthusHomewood: Money is power and time in abstract form
WardsarTheWriter: @Gekyouryuu I chuckled.
Gekyouryuu: ty. :3
Zalthia: Ahhh Civ 6. The game I played 100 hours in before deciding I hated it.
Zalthia: How goes?
Lord_Zath:
@Zalthia LOL I haven't decided I hate it just yet but I totally get ya
ElektroTal: the biggest way they're linked is that you can oops into a culture victory on your way to a faith victory which is annoyingly secular
Zalthia: @lord_zath Main issue was I was playing multiplayer with a group of friends and all my favorite civs were not meta friendly.
WardsarTheWriter: Yeah, I agree they should be, though there's some options you can pick in game that give bonuses to holy sites that result in additional culture. But that's... situational.
silenceaux: What IS culture in this game, besides a method of getting tiles (?)
goatprince: separating culture from science was a big brain play in this game
PacifistBattozai: I always saw it as not actual faith but currency owned by the faith hierarchy.
Lord_Zath: @Zalthia ahhh yeah I do that now with friends. So far we haven't been super competitive but at some point we figure we will balance it out by difficulty. The "meta" civs require a higher difficulty level.
WardsarTheWriter: I tend to get culture victories on accident a ton, but that's because I play with settings and civs that favour it.
silenceaux: How do you want to win?
ElektroTal: it's wild to me that you can win a combat victory just by taking capitals, but to win a faith one you have to convert almost every dang city out there
Herby89: is this a continent map? or fractal?
goatprince: he's the eureka guy, right? yeah, bad to play against
NorthstarTex: nah, he's... not a fun time to put it plainly
goatprince: he's the speed runner, easy to break open the game
Gekyouryuu: of course Nebuchadnezzar is annoying to fight. Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus are on there, and they have plot armor
baltimore_667083: barbarians with tanks...what could go wrong
Lord_Zath: hmm I never really thought about it that way
ElektroTal: what's super annoying about playing the babs is that your tech faaar outpaces your ability to actually produce anything
BalthusHomewood: Even so, they do tend to.. Babel on
NorthstarTex: I mean they did irl too
WardsarTheWriter: I had ONE good game playing as them where I had eurekas for days, and it felt amazing. But every other time it feels like a struggle.
Inept_Hope: Playing with barbarian clans mode might help with that, as when they evolve into city states they cover the map preventing too many new camp spawns.
WardsarTheWriter: Cue that volcano over there.
Lord_Zath: nice save!
silenceaux: Really good walls, therefore really good neighbours.
WardsarTheWriter: Nah, we won't have that bad of luck yet. We haven't founded atheism yet.
Lord_Zath: I'll have to try that!
gualdhar: note, if you purposefully misspell Aethieisme to avoid the RNG hit, the game detects it anyway
Invitare: God exists, but he only manifests as bad luck in a single game
WardsarTheWriter: Anyone else hate when you get clusters of mountains that keep the map perpetually fogged for most of the game?
Herby89:
I like the mongolian throat singing when playing the mongols
gamblingaregood: The background music to any time Poland is played in any game should always be the Winged Hussars by Sabaton
lesbianpunkpyromancer21: I've been meaning to jam with Georgia on the dramatic age mode at some point, but ive been on a japan kick
WardsarTheWriter: It's true.
WardsarTheWriter: Well, there's some other Canadian folk music, but it's not nearly a diverse enough loop.
gamblingaregood: But that's the only Canadian song right?
PhorrestGaze: can you swap it to the Arrogant Worm
PhorrestGaze: 's alternate anthem, Canada is Really big
goatprince: lot driver's waltz on repeat
Invitare: does the British Empire use God Save the [Monarch]?
Invitare: because Rule Britannia is much better
deathofspam: It would be Barenaked Ladies and well all know it
gamblingaregood: Or Jerusalem
deathofspam: Scarborough Fair?
WardsarTheWriter: The faire one. Forget the name.
PacifistBattozai: Scarborough fair
gamblingaregood: Parsley sage rosemary and thyme
Invitare: eww, marginally better than the national anthem, still kind of boring
gamblingaregood: Jerusalem
ElektroTal: it's actually a great rendition of scarborough fair too
WardsarTheWriter: I like the industrial age variant of it.
emberBecky: Greensleeves probably sounds too christmas to most people
Gekyouryuu: Angle land
gamblingaregood: Just because it was written by a king doesn't make it good
ElektroTal: but honestly, the music that surprised me the most was India, which actually has north indian classical music so good i would just let the game idle in the background so i could hear it
ElektroTal: which is a far cry from the hot ass garbage of previous india civ audio
WardsarTheWriter: I think one of my favourite tracks in the game is one of the Egypt ones.
ElektroTal: like, they're lengthy compositions that don't repeat because indian music doesn't have repetition in themes like western does
gamblingaregood: Who gets to be a civilisation, a video essay
deathofspam: As I recall, actual Cree deeply objected that you would be at opposition all the time
ElektroTal: also they really didn't like how the Cree sacred songs were used in the game
WardsarTheWriter: Hey, they'll want to hear all about Atheism.
deathofspam: @ElektroTal Oh geez, yeah, I didn't even think about that
inconsideratehat: And like, were these songs ones that are good to pull out whenever or are they reserved for certain ceremonies, etc?
lesbianpunkpyromancer21: the implemented the diplomatic victory to try and be a "everyone wins" but it still says "you won the diplomatic victory"
lesbianpunkpyromancer21: and if another civ gets the diplo win you loose the game
gamblingaregood: The object of the game is to win the game, as the wise one said
ElektroTal: that's some hot atonality
baltimore_667083: and that person is you
Rourke9: 4X games are very... laden.
WardsarTheWriter: Which is interesting because I don't play 80% of my Civ games long enough to get to any victory.
sfn____: civ tries to pretend it's about things other than war, but it's really not
gamblingaregood: Oh yes. The laden
gamblingaregood: Burdened even
Rourke9: Yea absolutely. People try very earnestly, but the DNA of it is there
ElektroTal: it was a direct-ish port of avalon hill's civilization, which was itself an outgrowth of risk, yeah
goatprince: wasn't civilization literally based off of a boardgame called, like, 'civilization' or hatever
ElektroTal: but at the risk of being an apologist, it's totally ok for civ to just be a combative game, and own that identity.
Rourke9: It reminds me of Paolo Pedercini's essay Video Games and the Spirit of Capitalism
Rourke9: It's ok, but still worth interrogating
gamblingaregood: But then including in its civilizational roster historical peoples for who a wargame is very very *off* is a thing
ElektroTal: oh, hundred percent
gamblingaregood: Shall we declare a chat diplo win?
WardsarTheWriter: I don't even really like the war mechanics of the game anyway. I just like managing cities and stuff.
kamilucky: is there a civ that isn't represented that you think would have been a good addition?
SkylerRingtail: Random thought: I'd love to see a combination Talking Sim/AFK of Diplomacy
ElektroTal: i've read(and even written) several essays about civ and the colonial gaze and how it approaches world history in a starkly western worldview
Rourke9: The basic premise of the essay is that the spreadsheetification of lives and values into numbers is a way that the ideology of capitalism functions - I love games like that, but I think an interesting point
goatprince: just imagine the can of worms of adding in historical people into Warhammer. imagine pound maker in that setting.
ElektroTal: @SkylerRingtail you really want to see the last days of LRR, eh?
gamblingaregood: I do not want to see the LRR crew play diplomacy
SkylerRingtail: Or even just branching Talking Sim to board games generally
gamblingaregood: No thank you
SkylerRingtail: @ElektroTal It'd save me some number of $ every month! Hah
gamblingaregood: I'm.also fine seeing them not touch social deduction games in general
josh___something: Isn't diplomacy REALLY divisive?
ElektroTal: i mean, the fact that Gandhi being a nuke happy monster is a meme of this game highlights the point entirely
Rourke9: There is also this fantastic GDC talk from the designer of Root in defense of King-making in board games - part of what he touches on is that the idea of games having a singular winner, and winning being the goal, was an intentional part of the project of using games to teach british children to be good liittle tools of empir
ElektroTal: diplomacy the boardgame is a miserable hatepile
Invitare: I'm British and the idea of having all less common civs sounds great
Rourke9: *empire
goatprince: the problem with including specific groups as civs is it's inherently exclusive, you're never gonna have everyone
WardsarTheWriter: Do they still program Gandhi that way, or is it still just a joke based on that glitch?
Greyah: A singular joke, that wasn't even funny the first time it was told.
DiscordianTokkan: Is the one 40K joke "HERESY? *BLAM*"?
yo80: Ah the Smash Bros. problem...
Land_Manatee: @ElektroTal Why would you say such a thing? I've only had very agreeable shouting matches while playing. It was a wonderful time.
Rourke9: @WardsarTheWriter its an apocryphal story, that was never actually how the Civ AI worked
emberBecky: I don’t even know when the Gandhi glitch was last a thing
BrowneePoints: I mean, did you hear the one about the Skaven Jon's cat Cam?
BrowneePoints: It hates Mazamundi's
DiscordianTokkan:
@BrowneePoints

ElektroTal: i don't talk to the people i played diplomacy with anymore
gamblingaregood: That shocks me not at all
SkylerRingtail: A fistfight over Diplomacy sounds...on par actually
gamblingaregood: Diplomacy is serious business
WardsarTheWriter: @Rourke9 So the whole thing about how his aggression rolled backwards from 0 to 256 or whatever the value was isn't actually true?
Haroldholmes25: yeah I thought it was kinda interesting the way humankind did civs because they had to come up with "civs" for every era including essentially prehistory
Rourke9: the Gandhi glitch was never actually a thing either, is the funniest part. it was probably people having outsized reactions to *Gandhi* doing anything violent
Rourke9: @WardsarTheWriter yea thats not true

Lunareclipse123: 40k memes are so insufferable. The best 40k jokes are deep lore cuts, the deeper the cut the better the joke
WardsarTheWriter: @Rourke9 Huh, good to know. Thanks for filling me in.
gamblingaregood: Get some of that low grade copper, live the old fashioned life
gamblingaregood: Goddang Ea-nasir
Rourke9: I actually really appreciate that Crusader Kings 3 doesn't have any victory conditions
LordZarano: PeopleMakeGames has a good video arguing that the Ghandi glitch never actually existed at all, it was just a meme
Haroldholmes25: what a surprise
Rourke9: but it balances that by still giving you various goals you can pursue if you want, for some guidance
inconsideratehat:
@gamblingaregood
Haroldholmes25:

WardsarTheWriter: Well... that's rough.
Haroldholmes25: Kongo-ing to beat you
gamblingaregood: Ah yes, one of the peaceful civs.
Rourke9: @LordZarano yea, that's what I was referencing earlier! I forgot it was from a PMG video
MarcterChief: Classic Kongo move
BrowneePoints: @Lunareclipse123 40k, where the deadliest person you'll meet is a Librarian Thespian who likes Punk Gear
Greyah: I've been asking myself that for about an hour and a half now, but that's because the game itself is nigh-incomprehensible to me.
WardsarTheWriter: They're sending a message. A very long, annoying, drawn out message.
inconsideratehat: A propos of nothing because I just think this group would laugh, someone on my feed made an amigurumi demon core and I got there first to comment "Tickle da dwagon's tail uwu"
gamblingaregood: Well when Boones invented writing yet...
gamblingaregood: *noone
definenull: Welp
Rourke9: Social simulations are some of my favorites because they reveal *so much* about how we organize ideas of how the world works. Like, who invented 'Civilization' as a unit of culture? (i'm sure theres a real answer but i dont know it)
gamblingaregood: Maybe this is the civilizational equivalent of passing a note in class. Except the note is the mangled corpses of kongo's soldiery?
DrLigmaPhD: This is 1000% not the right stream for this but months ago on a Warhammer stream I mentioned seeing some Inuit Warhammer fanart. Mind if I link it?
gamblingaregood: @rourke9 probably some Victorian dirtbag
Rourke9: and Borders are also a convenient gameplay simplification, but a recent invention
Rourke9: @gamblingaregood probably!
DiscordianTokkan: That rules, DrLigma
inconsideratehat: That's rad
ElektroTal: also, i kinda really super hate that all the little tech discovery blurbs are snarky
gamblingaregood: Presented as science, but ultimately just an explanation of why it's morally correct to skin and wear people with more melanin than you
TheLodgium: Some of them are from the governor
DrLigmaPhD: I love the akhlut in the art, it's a delightful inclusion
definenull: Isn't it ironic since iirc Kongo can't found religions?
definenull: Or maybe they're overcompensating
Kuerbiskanal: No they don't
yo80: skill issue
gamblingaregood: Kon-get over it
RaklarLS: power of god and anime on their side?
RaklarLS: (speaking of ones of jokes)
Inept_Hope: what combat bonuses do they have?
ThatGuyToj: kongo's unit gets +10 against ranged attacks
Rourke9: oh wow
Land_Manatee: This is the point in the game where I just determine to change everything and just wipe that civ out.
DrLigmaPhD: they simply do not acknowledge the existence of projectiles
ThatGuyToj: no balanced start?
Greyah: Oh they had that when you first found them.
WardsarTheWriter: #AI cheats
DrLigmaPhD: time traveller with a gun accounts for 100
Land_Manatee: Projectiles? I would simply block them with a my shield.
gsyhiap: What difficulty is this?
gamblingaregood: Kon-going to steamroll you
SkylerRingtail: Now, how well does the game communicate the strengths and weaknesses of other civs? Is there an easy way for a new player to realize upon encountering a civ for the first time that, say, "oh, they're really strong against ranged units. I should pivot my strategy." (Not that Cam is a new player, of course. Speaking generally)
definenull: Does that include city state military units?
ThatGuyToj: this war is gonna put you so behind the rest of the world
ThatGuyToj: if you even survive
definenull: There is random chatter sometimes where the leader comments on what they like and dislike but it can be cryptic
ElektroTal: rerollllll
Land_Manatee: yikes! anyway...
DiscordianTokkan:

Kuerbiskanal: they are swordsman alts
gamblingaregood: Today I have witnessed Cameron get hilariously bucketed by some dudes with shields, that's worth a sub
malum_ranae:

ElektroTal: no, they still need iron
gsyhiap: Guess we know where all the iron is then
ElektroTal: these dudes only take 5 iron to build though
DrLigmaPhD: Turns out running a civilization is hard
LordZarano: @Rourke9 'Borrowed from French civilisation From civiliser + -ation From civil + -iser Borrowed from Latin cīvīlis From cīvis (“citizen”) + -īlis from Proto-Indo-European *ḱey- (“to settle, be lying down”)'
definenull: Beg for mercy?
LordZarano: @Rourke9 So, the French, imitating Romans
Land_Manatee: That's the cool thing, you don't!
WardsarTheWriter: And a general too? Oh no...
bytecaster: Appease their demands?
DrLigmaPhD: Hardline bio-warfare, warcrimes all day every day
Rourke9: @LordZarano definitely where the word comes from! but that doesnt mean it game about at the same time as our modern concept. Though it is worth pointing out how it excludes nomadic cultures
Rourke9: *came about
Rourke9: like, the concept could pre-exist the word. or the word could have meant something slightly different before it came into current meaning
DrLigmaPhD: NGL I don't think this war is winnable. Though it is true that most wars in the premodern world were decisively one-sided like this
ElektroTal: you also have the added difficulty that her main dislike is other people sharing her continent
ThatGuyToj: forty turns of shooting bb guns at a brick wall
Rourke9: oof, thats frustrating
SkylerRingtail: @ElektroTal Isn't...isn't that everyone?
ElektroTal: oh, that's the other kongo, not this one
DrLigmaPhD: @ElektroTal Kongo 2: Kong-est
Juliamon: this one's the wrong-o
Land_Manatee: Please, stop hitting me! I'm about to invent the Haiku!
ThatGuyToj: te kongo unti really put the "gun" in "rock-paper-scissors-gun"
Countjondi: does military power include xp levels
Earthenone: is the game on one of those "the ai straight up cheats" dificulty modes?
Haroldholmes25: well it was a good stream
Haroldholmes25: I enjoyed it at least
ElektroTal: great conversation at least
FarleyF: we had some really interesting conversations
shurtal: if i learned one thing from anime, sword > gun
Rourke9:
I think it was! but that sounds really frustrating
FarleyF: and if the Lets Nope boys have taught us anything - it's one of the best parts of the stream
DrLigmaPhD: This has been the Thucydides run: lose and write about why and how
DrLigmaPhD: We didn't Jeb! hard enough
dm818: Just got here this is Georgia right?
bytecaster: So the AI is playing a control deck, got it
shurtal: Chronologically wounded
Kayonniik: Are we playing with your civ partner in crime
DrLigmaPhD: We call that a "Dick Move"
svenning28: ai the game we got but never deserved
WardsarTheWriter: They're stealing your iron.
RealGamerCow: They take 4 turns for every 1 of yours
DiscordianTokkan: This is, in fact, the reason why I don't play Civ games generally. It just never hits any Fun spots for me, personally. More power to those that can.
FarleyF: you know for me one of my favourite CIV games was 2 - test of time. And thats because it had both Sci-Fi and Fantasy mods as well as having multiple maps in the one game
FarleyF: otherwise favourite Sid Meirs Civ game would be Alpha Centauri - which deserves a upgrade to modern systems
emberBecky: @FarleyF ahh yes Test of Time was my first. The fantasy mod was cool
FarleyF: @emberBecky i know right - moving from the underdark to the surface with the same race was awesome
DiscordianTokkan: @FarleyF Alpha Centauri was the rare exception for me, loved that danged game
WardsarTheWriter: @FarleyF I loved that one too, and it was also my first. I played it at friend's house.
DrLigmaPhD: I wish i was arrowproof too
DrLigmaPhD: cool party trick
FarleyF: My brother and i still have Secret Project discussions based on single lines - Living Colony for the win
emberBecky: @FarleyF yeah I remember witches as flying units.. it felt more interesting than just a reskin
bytecaster: Also archer immunity seems good
RealGamerCow: I actually like that better than 4 where the same tactic worked every single time
WardsarTheWriter: It feels good when you get what you need, and feels demoralizing when you don't. Guess which happens more often?
FarleyF: I mean can you say you've played a civ game till you've defeated a battleship with a Phalanx. Shout out to my fellow Civ I players
emberBecky: I'm still figuring out civ 6 tho I think. districts mess me up. I don't think I could play higher than default difficulty.. prince or whatever
WardsarTheWriter: Real time Civs is weird...
TheAwkes: The strategy games I've plated in the past do stuff like let letting the AI civs get away with min-maxing and racking up massive debts in a way that a player can't get away with, but is very effective at disrupting a players own strategy.
Kuerbiskanal: you can turn on rounds during war
SkylerRingtail: Gotta get people engaged to sell more DLC!
raulghoulia: I found this productive
FarleyF: in all seriousness i would like to see a talking sim about the other civ style games like Mankind and Old World
WardsarTheWriter: The secret ending!
Earthenone: the true ending where we kill and supplant god
FarleyF: do we have to pay more for the secret ending though
emberBecky: sorry to have to miss most of Talking Sim most weeks now because of a class.. looking forward to vod tho ^.^
DrLigmaPhD: homebody once told me
GreatGodOm:
How long is Beej going to go on about LRR's 20th anniversary?
LordZarano: !bracket
Lunareclipse123: Finalist sketches tomorrow!
FarleyF:
Please don't leave us Cam - the Drones love you, they look up to you
FarleyF: Alpha Centauri Joke for the closing
emberBecky:
see ya
WardsarTheWriter: Thanks Cam!
jessieimproved: I like watching vote number-go-up on the polls
TehAmelie: it's fun to see the community so focused
Thefluffiestguineapig: @jessieimproved I am so glad I'm not the only one!!
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TehAmelie The LRR community is a force to be reckoned with when roused to action, see what they did for the most recent Ultimate Facepunch Wrestling PPV
Thefluffiestguineapig: Ok, first question is her name Petty Cash Doubloons or any combination thereof because I love all of those
Juliamon: her name's Doubloons
Thefluffiestguineapig: Second question is how could anyone be so terrible as to contain an entropy engine that adorable?
Juliamon: she has a sister Farthing and brothers Ledger and Quid
Thefluffiestguineapig: @Juliamon AHH
Thefluffiestguineapig: It's so cute I can't stand it!!!
TehAmelie: kitty!
Juliamon: they're in the room because the older kittens have the run of the house and they can't be trusted to play gently
Thefluffiestguineapig: Are they kittens you get to interact with IRL or just benefit from the world bending adorableness
Juliamon: I just watch them
Juliamon: they're at a kitten foster
Juliamon: kitten.academy
Thefluffiestguineapig: Oh no
Thefluffiestguineapig: I should not have clicked that link
Thefluffiestguineapig: My productivity is gone
Thefluffiestguineapig: I already have a weakness for bonded kitties of all kinds and seeing so many happy kitties is just too big a draw
TehAmelie: kittens and old LRR streams make a nice background for me as i'm writing the most grimdark and violent thing i've ever thought up
