artdecosunburn: Is that what they call "heroic scale"?
darkcyril: "The Struggle Counter" is what I call my alarm clock.
darkcyril: @artdecosunburn a bit bigger than heroic scale. Heroic is I believe what the Warhammer base scale is.
artdecosunburn: Ahh. Thanks for clarifying.
artdecosunburn: Superheroic scale, perhaps, given their other IP.
darkcyril: @artdecosunburn Just checked. Heroic scale is 28-35mm. Shatterpoint is 40mm
darkcyril: So yeah, same size as Crisis Protocol
artdecosunburn: 40mm. Grenade sized.
letsbelgo: simply have darth maul 4head
LoadingReadyRun: Warhammer "heroic scale" specifically is also deliberately distorted with bigger head and hands then what would be realistic
GasCityGaming: Whoever painted these, they look gorgeous!
artdecosunburn: So this mixes and matches "Star Wars" time periods?
WitchyTQ: funko painted them 🖤 and i helped
AtrusOfMyst: So good. Love the night sisters.
GasCityGaming: @WitchyTQ Y'all are crazy good!

Jillexie: @WitchyTQ Agreed
gnomebot1: I played Imperial Assault a couple of weekends ago. Survived Vader, barely!
Dog_of_Myth: @WitchyTQ Correct
Jillexie: Need Hera in the Ghost
Revenant77x: Wait Chopper the Warcrime droid. It's over only Luke has a higher body count in Star Wars
DeChunkandFriends: @LoadingReadyRun It's more Descent with Star Wars, but yeah there are a lot of mini games for Star Wars.
artdecosunburn: I appreciate that far future of the Star Wars universe is still orange jumpsuits.
WitchyTQ: sabine is also baby but can do wrong lmao
artdecosunburn: Very 70s.
Chesul: Wait, how did Ian's car get into this game, and does he know?
artdecosunburn: Must be same era? So I can't have Tarkin and a porg?

goombalax: also works while his card is in reserve

artdecosunburn: That Chopper card is great. So full of character for a robot.
ThirtyCubicFeetOfSalsa: do they have my favorite star wars character, That Cool Lizard Obi Wan Rides In Episode 3?
artdecosunburn: Could be a whole spinoff game of lizard riding, Salsa.
darkcyril: @ThirtyCubicFeetOfSalsa Boga!
ThirtyCubicFeetOfSalsa: I'd play that
artdecosunburn: Ezra -- more 70s orange jumpsuits.
WitchyTQ: rebels is sooo good
Jillexie: Rebels is the best
vinewood_og: Rebels is great
Chesul: what about the combo skill, Force Yoyo?

artdecosunburn: The bendy range move things are legacy of the Fantasy Flight spaceship games?
ThirtyCubicFeetOfSalsa: my experience with SW, outside of the movies, is just the 2004 Clone Wars series and Andor

PynnThePenguin: OG Battlefront 2 was amazing
letsbelgo: Its about the same level as thier voices, might drown them out a bit?
artdecosunburn: Hey, the disco cover of the John Williams SW main theme became a huge hit the late 70s/early 80s.
letsbelgo: Im a musician though, so I am more tuned into that stuff though
realbadatthis_: Are there messy crits on your hunker rolls?
KeytarCat:
Could play New World Symphony for that classic Star Wars feel
(John Williams used a lot of vibes from Dvorak, specifically symphony no.9)
HadesLeprechaun: Music volume sounds fine here
Raincoast_Bear:
Gamorrean Pride!
Waterscorpion: This is awesome, but I need more Star Wars Unlimited!
Raincoast_Bear: Ive always felt Williams Star Wars owned a lot Holst's Mars, Bringer of War.
goombalax: you can still dash
nalkarauke_: my favourite thing to do in Legion was hunter killer missile maul, he had a speed of three and then could move twice and then throw his lightsaber one range stick so he had a range of like 27 inches from the get go
KeytarCat: @Raincoast_Bear ooh, I'll have to take a comparative listen some time! I really ilke Mars
goombalax: I'm pretty sure you can shoot into melee
goombalax: Rebels has the Bindu
darkcyril: (I'm with Lucas on this)
nalkarauke_: the jedi were kinda starting to feel like the lantern corps with the grey jedi
Cjcaesar: gray force users make no sense. The light
goombalax: so everything I'm seeing says that they can shoot into Engagement range of a melee
Cjcaesar: is balance, dark side is imbalance
KeytarCat: If grey force users exist, they were the council that allowed the fall into Imperial rule: "good guy" magic but tolerant of evil
artdecosunburn: The talk of elevation in skirmish makes me want to see LRR play some Mordheim.
KeytarCat: But yeah, it's not like White Magic v Black Magic in final fantasy
Despoiler98: I mean in Knights of the Old Republic you could be a Jedi that used dark side powers, you weren't Sith or Jedi you could run a middle ground build
goombalax: they talked about it, necromunda too @artdecosunburn
artdecosunburn: Neat.
Cjcaesar: despite how awesome kotor is, in
goombalax: I feel like they were planning some High republic stuff before the sabotage of the Acolyte
Cjcaesar: lenient on the pull of the dark side for gameplay fun reasons
I_Am_Clockwork:
5000 minis night! Shatterpoint! woooh
artdecosunburn: Too bad the Galactic economy is so bad that Kanan has to resort to Dashing as a side hustle.
KeytarCat: @Despoiler98 I guess I attributed that to a limit of the same kind as Paragon/Renegade from Mass Effect. It also codified Gray Jedi elsewise, tho? idk
Sethalidos: original KOTOR is canon I believe
Sethalidos: KOTOR 2, not so much
Cjcaesar: parts are
Cjcaesar: parts that have been referenced in other canon works
goombalax: they have picked and chose from the EU for what becomes canon
goombalax: Thrawn being a good example
KeytarCat: Canonize as convenient
jubale1: starwarhammer?
artdecosunburn: I miss some of the stripped canon from the old WEG rpg sourcebooks.
goombalax: which makes sense because they let a lot of stinky authors write some of those novels and a few absolute trash
artdecosunburn: Some of the later novels were dreck, and it's probably best they were de-canonized as legends.

darkcyril: @artdecosunburn My dream is to see Platte O'Keefe made canon.
darkcyril: One of the coolest POV characters from those sourcebooks.
artdecosunburn: The path the franchise was taking immediately before the Disney purchase was fascinating. Luke's grandson I think was a force-using bounty hunter who communicated with force ghosts, and there was the Fel Empire, a sort of Byzantium remnant of the fractured original empire.
artdecosunburn: Not necessarily good, but fascinating.
darkcyril: Yeah, Cade Skywalker and his partner/lover Deliah Blue.
artdecosunburn: That's it. Cade! The angsty Luke/Han hybrid. Jedi in a biker jacket.
darkcyril: Who was a death sticks addict as a means to deaden his connection to the Force so he wouldn't be bothered by Luke and Mara, lol
darkcyril: And then there was the Darth Krayt/Rule of One stuff.
artdecosunburn: I picked all of this up from some Star Wars atlas of the galaxy that was one of the last things Lucas published before the Disney deal.

artdecosunburn: The Brian Daley Han Solo novels are fun.
darkcyril: @artdecosunburn Oooh boy. Splinter of the Mind's Eye territory.
artdecosunburn: Exactly. Luke and Leia aren't siblings yet. Han Solo does his own thing. There's a giant rabbit in the Marvel Comics. The Corporate Sector Authority is a big bad.
Jillexie: Chopper is special.

artdecosunburn: "An army of undead is good for the planet!"
I_Am_Clockwork: the combat trees, despite taking a minute to understand, was one of my favorite newish mechanics for shatterpoint (idk if MCP did something similar)
LoadingReadyRun: @I_Am_Clockwork it seems like it allows a lot of interesting flexibility without a lot of rules and complications
artdecosunburn: I suppose whether it's a shortform or longform improv game makes it play really differently in the bedroom.
Mazrae: Get to the chopper?

"Move is the Move Move" is a perfectly valid sentence in this game

I_Am_Clockwork: My favorite thing to have happened to me in this game was saying, out lout, "Looks like Anakin needs to trhow hands with Han Solo so he can push his way over to that ladder and jump ontop of the last objective"
artdecosunburn: Well, Anakin should always ladders to look to high ground.
Lysander_salamander: Oh I didn't know there were night-sister units
I_Am_Clockwork: there's a little bit of about everything
I_Am_Clockwork: there's a whole box for Queen Amadala and her handmaidens
Lysander_salamander: cool
Lysander_salamander: So you could do a bunch of decoy princesses?
Lysander_salamander: Or queens
I_Am_Clockwork: an All Ewoks list is (or was) a Meta tourney list for a while
Toxxick: Oh, she has Mystique's "blow this thing up for unavoidable damage"?
Oscelot: It really does
Toxxick: OH. Its Rockets Mines on an OBJ. Damn
artdecosunburn: "Decoy Princesses" would also be a great band name.
Toxxick: Oh, are the Acolytes like Grunts? Thats cool
I_Am_Clockwork: most teams have a couple grunt units, like the Deathwatch Commandos or the Night Sister archers, but some replace them with a single character
I_Am_Clockwork: like Chopper and Zeb
I_Am_Clockwork: for truely trashmob units, they give you multiple dudes on the same base, like B1 and B2 droids
Oscelot: @WitchyTQ Hubby just showed me the pic of the easter egg in the terrain XD *chefkiss*
Toxxick: Clock, are they re-deployable by a parent unit like in MCP or are they a "deployed once and done"
Lord_Hosk:
Funko, next time, you should role all hits and have Ben role all misses. It works better for you
I_Am_Clockwork: once they are deployed thats where they play
I_Am_Clockwork: unless they or someone else on the team has abilities that allow out of turn movement
I_Am_Clockwork: but when you activate the unit, you get to do stuff with both bases
I_Am_Clockwork: for multi character units that is
Toxxick: But if they get KOd can you bring them back? You can with Grunts in MCP
I_Am_Clockwork: ah no, the unit as a whole shares a single health pool
I_Am_Clockwork: but they get wounded and injured just like normal heros
I_Am_Clockwork: so they aren't "out" until you kill them a few times
I_Am_Clockwork: typically twice for secondary units like that
Toxxick: Gotcha. In MCP each Parent Model for Grunts has some way to get them back because they fold like wet paper bags
I_Am_Clockwork: units tend to be harder to kill in this, even "grunt" units
LoadingReadyRun: I like that this accurately represents a typical Star Wars fight, with everyone jumping around wildly
WitchyTQ: be nice to buggies
I_Am_Clockwork: not impossible, but unless the enemy is very killy and you positioned very aggressivly, then its not liekly for you to get tabled
Oscelot: But they're pretty buggies ;_;
Oscelot: I wonder if they make multichrome mini paint...
Toxxick: Gotcha. Yeah MCP Grunts have 2 HP in a world where the average is 10, and Average of 1.5 defense dice where the average is 3
WitchyTQ: jacob did you bring tweezers to help hold the bitties?
LoadingReadyRun: @Oscelot pretty sure they do
Oscelot: @LoadingReadyRun oh no. This is dangerous knowledge for me. XD
I_Am_Clockwork: @Toxxick yeah grunt units have around the same health as everyone else
I_Am_Clockwork: technically calld "Secondary Units" here, iirc
I_Am_Clockwork: erm no Support Units
Toxxick: Makes sense. Grunts do really unfair synergistic things with their parents so they make them easy to pick off
I_Am_Clockwork: The choice between a single or double character support unit is an intersesting one to me, because you weigh singular combat power/utility vs map presence (since you can send the two halves of a multi character unit all over, you don't have to keep them near eachother)
I_Am_Clockwork: so having lots of support units gives you more boddies to control objectives with
Toxxick: Like, Ultron's Bots explode and give him power, Red Skulls goons can secure objectives which other grunts cant. Shadowlands Daredevils Ninjas can ninja vanish with mobile obtective tokens, and Fury's Shield agents mark targets for him to nuke
Toxxick: oh and Sandman can warp to his constructs and consume them for HP
TheAinMAP:

Toxxick: We also know that Multiple man comes out next year and he has Grunts of himself which is *great*

I_Am_Clockwork: struggles
Oscelot:
@I_Am_Clockwork The Troubles
SquareDotCube: too many specialist groups, too few specialist groups
Oscelot: That sounds like a familiar problem
I_Am_Clockwork: the fact that most abilities only do stuff on that character's turn and that which character goes next is semi-random helps a lot
SquareDotCube: er, too few generalist groups. Just needs some regular troopers
Mai_Andra: Warmachine was designed to be the lighter, skirmish wargame - with fewer, larger models. THen they started more and more infantry and solos and...
I_Am_Clockwork: eh I think it rewards objective play, but that becomes more of a thing if you play all the struggles
I_Am_Clockwork: becomes the second and third objectives change where they are every turn
I_Am_Clockwork: iirc
Oscelot: I'm curious - for those who have played these games rl. What's the point of doing it physically as opposed to in a video game where the maths and such are all dealt with for you? Is it just the ability to do complete customization, or...?
I_Am_Clockwork: the preponderance of bits if a very Fantasy Flight holdover kind of thing
I_Am_Clockwork: the bespoke dice and all the little tokens for different statuses
Earthenone: !point
LRRbot: If you came here hoping for there to be a point to this, I have bad news for you.
Oscelot: @Earthenone oh I'm not looking for a point, I'm just curious what people's interest are in it
Oscelot: I'm not saying this is invalid in any way, just curious
Oscelot: @I_Am_Clockwork Noice :3
darkcyril: @Oscelot Differs by the person! Some people are really into the modeling and painting and the game is secondary. For some people, game night at the LGS is the one time a week they get out of the house for something social and that's what drives them. Just two examples.
I_Am_Clockwork: yeah the "moving" criticl objectve leands to a lot of mobility or hedghing bets, and less turtling on your side of the board
HadesLeprechaun: @Oscelot physicality, holding things in your hand, holding/painting models is just different. For example, I don't like digital card games *at all*, but love rl card games.
LoadingReadyRun: the Pinned, Shove, and Dash symbols could definitely look more different
Toxxick: >_>
Toxxick: Yeah, fair.
Oscelot: @darkcyril Tyty, appreciate the additional viewpoints. Hadn't thought of the game night point. Good examples!
Oscelot: @HadesLeprechaun That makes sense. Some times physical stuff just hits different
Juliamon: Ah, I thought that sounded like an Erika!
Oscelot: Oh nice, I didn't realize Cam and Erika were here too X3
I_Am_Clockwork: Hi cam! Hi Erika
