 Cptasparagus: Gameinabottle.com (Gemcraft's website), is literally the only blog i've taken the time to check into in the last 15 years. They're planning another one. Its made by a couple in Hungary.
 TheMerricat: So two 'modern' TD games that I've enjoyed were Sanctum and Slaycation. The first is a combo game, FPS and Tower Defense, made by an early Coffee Stain Studios. Slaycation is a weird alternate reality deal where you take vacations in apoc worlds and build towers to defend your exit portal.
