TheMerricat watched 35 consecutive streams and sparked a watch streak!
ProcyonFlynn: Smoothie Challenge did a real number on my ability to think about smoores
SmithKurosaki: Sounds good Beej
Akaiatana: The smores exist, they just taste like cardboard
CAKHost: Enchances Shirts is an odd bullet point for a hoodie but go off I guess!
TheMerricat: So no being a Canadian, but when one of the places I was working lost internet for a week, they demanded a refund and compensation for lost revenue. I hope your ISP didn't screw you over.
DoodlestheGreat: The end of March, but one show from Spring is starting next week: Rooster Fighter.
RockPusher: There's been some fun stuff this season
RockPusher: Frieren I wan't them to take whatever time it takes to maintain quality
DoodlestheGreat: I know what's coming in Frieren, but I'm not saying a damn thing because I love the reactions.
Akaiatana: Anime was the frieren we made along the way
TheMerricat: So the thing about Frieren that scares me is both the author and the illustrator have poor health so they've suspended the manga....
Vinewood_OG:

TXC2:
all my knowledge of Frieren comes from WH40K memes
BlueMechanic: clip show
Vinewood_OG: "Sorry for the clip show!"
Getter404: Isn't that how the first Tenchi Muyo ended?
Akaiatana: The ending of most kids movies like TMNT, too
JKBalch: party ending/clip shows
DoodlestheGreat: Hey, there's nothing you can say to me about anime that'll make me suffer, because I just saw the trailer from the latest GoHands series AND LIVED!
aerohydra watched 200 consecutive streams and sparked a watch streak!
kingandcommoner: My least favorite is "we don't think we're getting season 2 so we're going to shove stuff in from 100 chapters from now and call that the end"
RockPusher: Paul's news document has to be some form of canary by now
Julian_Rogue: I know the interwebs were down. /is/ there a checkpoint for this week or just chill point?
Getter404: s k i n
mtvcdm: skins
Juliamon: Julian_Rogue Just chillpoint
Julian_Rogue: @Juliamon tanks!

Julian_Rogue:
@TXC2 in the cloud probs.
TheMerricat: @TXC2 Given the cost of components, I'm sure it'll be as expensive as one...
Julian_Rogue: @Juliamon oh right!
Getter404: No Yotei, the monsters
TXC2: Julian_Rogue oh that's much worse
TXC2: TheMerricat indeed
Getter404: Because it's the Dead Cells/Rogue Prince of Persia developers
Amentur: The developers of the new Castlevania made Dead Cells
Laserbeaks_Fury:
Randomizers come later
kingandcommoner: "search action" is the japanese term for metroidvania, so that might be aliteral translation
ShaneLeeAtk: Ha, because they can't call it a Metroidvania
Getter404: I don't know what's worse, asking outlets not to review a game currently on sale for like a month... or that the outlets are agreeing to

RockPusher: I assume Nintendo and every other corporation with a sufficiently large legal team
TXC2: yeah, COMPANIES are trying to get the money back, not cutomers
Juliamon: Vinewood_OG We don't have to be on any side. Let them fight.
TXC2: *customers
ArtDecoSunburn: It is a US court.
CAKHost:
@TXC2 Hm yeah, that makes sense
loufghyslaufey: Also, isn't otaku a bit sketchy for game news stuff?
serga_maraline: you heard about the WOD game that got leaked with the robocop game lol
LilyOfTheVeil666: FedEx and other companies are also suing
RockPusher: The SCOTUS decision very specifically didn't address any methods of redress
schordash: 🫠
TheMerricat: A federal judge has already stepped in and said he's handling "ALL" of the suits concerning tariff refunds and has basically said that it's up to the government to figure out how to apply for a refund.
kingandcommoner: They're probably claiming "loss of sales"
CAKHost: Sooo Nintendo charges the customer more to pay the government fees and now they are trying to get that money back from the Government....?
RockPusher: "and Canada*" *Offer unusually also valid in Quebec
loufghyslaufey: So wait, there's a "Tariffs with EXTRA steps" clause? Hello?
Akaiatana: @CAKHost Loss of sales over increased price out of control
TheMerricat: @kingandcommoner No, it's entirely "You shouldn't have been able to charge us this 'tax' so we want that money back" and no they don't plan on 'passing the savings on to the consumer' - aka if you were willing to buy it for the price we charged, then that's obviously the price we can charge you for it.
RockPusher: CAKHost yes, though *they* were charged illegally, the customers "willingly" paid
CAKHost: @Akaiatana Fair... Guess my issue is that the "loss amount" they claim is kinda fictional? Like how much are they actually saying was lose
CAKHost: Maybe I'm just confused
kingandcommoner: @TheMerricat I never said they were going to pass anything back to the customers. I'm saying that "loss of sales" is a valid legal injury to sue over
TXC2: oh Nintendo will tell the court the big number Nintendo thinks it can get away with
CAKHost: *lost
TXC2: *biggest
CAKHost: @TXC2 Sure they will do that
Akaiatana: @CAKHost People corrected me. Nintendo ate the costs
CAKHost: @Akaiatana Ah
Wolfstrike_NL: And hardware parts are getting low on supply because of the other evil
RockPusher:
Part of the experience of camp is overhearing the other groups at the lakeside
schordash:

blastedman: Anyone in the office catch the Mewgenics bug?
TheMerricat: @CAKHost So again, right now the _only_ lawsuits we are aware of are importers suiting the government to get back the tariff they had to pay to _import_ the product to sell to consumers. Other than Fedex, who is claiming to be suing on behalf of all the people who shipped via them to get back all that money then give it back to the people who shipped via them.
RockPusher: Every corporation and their dog - and nothing will be decided finally for a decade
public_key_reveal_party: The issue with lawsuits is that 99.9% of it is incredibly dull legal proceedings and motions being filed, and then the little bit left over has massive broad reaching implications
CAKHost: EPIC's big Taking down the Apple scheme
serga_maraline: wait marathon did something?
Getter404: Around 50k last night
Getter404: While Slay The Spire 2 was 260k
EvilBadman: 54k concurrent on steam
SajuukSjet: bungie asked reviewers to consider that end-game content unlocks in a couple weeks, essentialy
TheMerricat:
Speaking of EPIC, I lost the chat message of whomever it was who posted the article about Tim signing away his rights to complain about the Google Store till whenever but that was GOLD. Thanks!
CAKHost: @TheMerricat That makes sense
hyalopterous: STS was over 400k
EvilBadman: Like, it's on /three/ platforms though
hyalopterous: STS2
EvilBadman: and STS2 is a VASTLY different game
gnyrinn: @hyalopterous STS?
serga_maraline: it says it has cross platform?
Juliamon: Slay the Spire
gnyrinn: Thanks
TXC2: STS2 will NOT sustain those numbers (nor is it meant to)
RockPusher: TheMerricat was mtvcdm who posted that article
SK__Ren: elixir syndrome
CAKHost: Yeah what Ren said
TheMerricat:
@RockPusher Thanks for sharing @mtvcdm! And thanks for letting me know Rockpusher!
TXC2: "it's our gear comrade"
accountmadeforants:
@TheMerricat When the settlement conditions are "stop posting". They should've tried that with Musk
EvilBadman: @LordZarano I typo'd 54 when I mean to do 67, heh
RockPusher: No! I might need the potions! I can't *use* them!
PMAvers: Generally I've found that if I lose stuff in the game, it's no real big deal. Especially as you get in later on and you unlock the ability to rebuy weapons with credits.
TXC2: learning to use limited consumables is ADVANCED level Gaming
EvilBadman: It is slightly concerning if you're comparing it to Arc Raiders, which has 3x concurrent right now, but it's far from "dead game"
SajuukSjet: Marathon is very much not going to let gear fear last too long, with it's planned refreshes
PMAvers: And they have free kits you can run with instead, and if you complete a run with one, you get bonus rep with a specific company.
Julian_Rogue: I'm 29 and I still hoard consumables for final boss
TheMerricat:
@accountmadeforants I half want to quip that you think a settlement agreement could get Must to shut up, but then I half realize that would be perfect if they did and he was true to form. A death of a thousand cuts.
EvilBadman: @Julian_Rogue Bury me with my megalixirs
ArtDecoSunburn: Anyone who played "Darklands" in 1992 knowsabout hoarding potions for bosses.
RockPusher: If you want me to use the potion, make it farmable. Then I will start popping them like Pez.
CAKHost: The only recent game I heard where you need to save your best items (namely MP restore items) is in Final Sword. And Final Sword was played on W+P
kingandcommoner: I think SMT3 did something where keeping around the first Pixie you could recruit would eventually let it evolve into a High Pixie
SocraticMethod: @PMAvers TBH the free kits are ass. Little heals and ammo so can't actually do heads-on like with actual gear
accountmadeforants: RAGE had a BFG equivalent, and I hoarded every bit of ammo for it, then I beat the final boss without realizing it was the final boss. (But then they let me loose in the open world afterwards so I went mad with power, so... worth it.)
TheMerricat:
I'm with Beej, I still remember playing WC2 and WC3 maps as the planet devourer. i.e. you never leave a map till ever resource has been harvested.
CAKHost: And that was a recommendation from a Content maker that i like to watch
Laserbeaks_Fury: I remember playing BotW that it got way more fun when I didn't try to hoard swords
SK__Ren: The only game I've ever played that actually wanted you to hoard the best items for the final dungeon was Lunar:SSSC. That final dungeons was an absolute slog and I used over 80 elixir/Ether equivalents at the end
EvilBadman: RPGs keep expect me to use a throwable item when it does 1/10 of my OP characters magic? No chance.
accountmadeforants: Also, weirdly, I usually loathe weapon degradation. But somehow I didn't mind it in Breath of the Wild, it was kinda fun to cycle through my backpack of assorted bullshit
serga_maraline: hoarding is boring so i just use it when it feels right...
SocraticMethod: Dark Souls have item hoarding, ironically
TheMerricat: Here's the thing, if you design a game with disposable items, then it should be completable without needing to use a disposable item. If it's completable without needing to use the item, then most people don't bother using it because why, unless you are having problems. And if you are having problems then you go do something else till it's no longer a problem.
emilevitt: you could also have the opposite problem, where you get the rarest items and you're attached to whatever you have so you sell said rare item
ApplicativeJones: E33 created a system specifically designed to encourage you to use potions. It was good.
CAKHost: BG3 had encumbrance, right?
emilevitt:

Foxmar320: I played RE Requiem and the only thing I ever hoarded with Requiem bullets.
Foxmar320: were*
RockPusher:
Who needs fast travel in Fallout? Who cares if it takes 3h to crawl to the nearest town? Unless the game simulates my knees exploding, I am taking the entire contents of this dungeon!
CAKHost: Unlesss, you have a bag of holding
TheMerricat:
@RockPusher PREACH!
TheMerricat:
God my settlements in FO4 should have been singularities given how much crap I stored in them.
TXC2: Fallout: you're over encumbered. Me: the fuck I am, I'm taking ALL this gold!
SocraticMethod: It's estus flasks
CAKHost: @RockPusher One of the reasons I still love Daggerfall was because of the horse drawn wagon. Loot all the Dungeons!
SocraticMethod: But for every resource
RockPusher:
TheMerricat *exhausts cap supply with every vendor in the world*
PMAvers: I always liked the Zeboyd method of "consumables", where the ones you have equipped are just once-per-fight and will come back each fight.
serga_maraline: dark soul estus flask is such a fun mechanic
Getter404: @TXC2 Those coffee mugs are essential for strategic purposes
TheMerricat:
@RockPusher Exhausts? No brother, selling items to vendors TAKES things away from the pile.. Only buy.
TXC2: Getter404 damn right, just like the dino-light dinosaurs
Strebenherz: aand that's why i never got into rs pvp
EvilBadman: Cemaron referring to Marathon as a roguelike deathmatch is a great way to explain it shorthand
EvilBadman: Caemron*
EvilBadman: ok...keyboard, you win
TXC2: take your time
SajuukSjet: every season Marathon is wiping loot, essentially
TheMerricat: Marathon has my attention as a continuation of Marathon. And as a possible shooter that I could play.
SajuukSjet: so it's incentivising actually using what you collect
Juliamon: We had the announcement glut, but not many have actually emerged from that
ArtDecoSunburn: @TXC2 Reminds me of Ultima VII, where you could lug around gold in multiple forms: coins, ingots, bars, and even ore. So heavy, but so satisfying.
EvilBadman: @TXC2 It's a new kb, split ergonomic, has completely eradicated my typing brain
SocraticMethod: Best thing about Marathon is that they brought back terminals and those are _so goo_
TXC2: EvilBadman yeah, that'll do it
CAKHost: Marathon is just Tarkov from Bungie?
TXC2: CAKHost more or less
PMAvers: And note that this is just Steam, where it's also on consoles and apparently the numbers there are great too?
CAKHost: Ah
serramarkov: Am I too early to congratulate the moonbase on Internet access?
Strebenherz: the bullshit whims of the big corpo
Akaiatana: Wizard with a Gun sold 3 million copies and didn't have enough money to stay open 6 months
serga_maraline: budgetting... is hell with games somehow
Akaiatana: (and it wasd not a GAAS)
SocraticMethod: Like the NuCaloric Sharable Drinkable Cheeseburger is such a dystopian thing but it's also so funny how they make them
Getter404: The problem is that it's Sony and they're still being used as the benchmark for getting cold feet after Concord. And given where social media discourse is at, it's either "look they pulled another one" or "hey how come they're not pulling it, why are they playing favorites"
Laserbeaks_Fury: There was a new game I was interested in, but I couldn't justify $10 because it was highly likely to just not exist in a few months
TheMerricat:
So chat, does anyone remember playing a really old game called Dungeon Master? Your characters in it had levels in classes and the novella that told the backstory of the game that came with it implied something special could happen if you maxed out all levels. As a result I found a room in the game that spawned food monsters, and hoarded every item in the game in that room attempting to grind to max levels.
I spent five years as a kid playing that game on my Atari ST.
Amentur: Except for Devolver, who want to release a secret game on the same day as GTA
CAKHost: The Next Silksong Moveout
Juliamon: Amentur Devolver Georg is an outlier
TXC2: TheMerricat didn't bullfrog make that game?
Strebenherz: maybe it was just bad
TheMerricat: @TXC2 FTL, they no longer exist. But same era of Bullfrog.
ArtOfStuttering: chat goes brrrrrrrr
TXC2: TheMerricat ah
Akaiatana: Don't worry Heather, just think of WHO'd you kill
SocraticMethod: But you also don't have 500 employees
TXC2:
and I can moderate the chat at this speed
protojman: *blows raspberry*
Laserbeaks_Fury: I've been in 1000 person chats. It sucks
schordash:

Foxmar320: I still struggle reading DB chat
serga_maraline: i saw a chat with 8k...it zoomed like a nascar
kingandcommoner: But isn't the dream people paying a monthly subscription for a service they never use?
RockPusher:
So many chatters, so few brain cells

ContingentCat: I like chat this kind of size way better
TheMerricat: @Laserbeaks_Fury Even slow mode in those chats scrolls to fast for anyone to be able to do anyhting but spam.
EvilBadman: @Foxmar320 hey me too
TXC2:
RockPusher it just moves faster right?
kingandcommoner: Indiana Jones and the sphere hair
Akaiatana: They pored their heart and soul
Strebenherz: playing voices of the void. it's overall graphics quality is source engine vibes, but it's enjoyable as hell
Laserbeaks_Fury: Real gets old, and never is new
kingandcommoner: I got my photo-realism hit with Night Trap and I'm good
ContingentCat: Interesting art style is better, if I wanted to see real things I'd go outside
SajuukSjet: photoreal is only useful if the game actaully makes use of it, Halo 4 stuck out to me because how much they focused on getting facial motions across to heighten the emotion of the scenes
Getter404: Heated Rivalry?
TXC2: nothing ages like "photo-realistic"
RockPusher: "Is the game fun?" much more important question than "Does the game look like a photograph?"
Laserbeaks_Fury: Put Poirot on the Holodeck
TheMerricat: But once we get real photorealistic chat, we can then do Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Cool World as video games!!!!
TXC2: also, IMO "photo-realistic" is the neoclassicism of video games.
RockPusher: "Is the game *engaging*?" better wording that is it fun
SocraticMethod: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle used photorealism to great effect because they were using light and darkness for mise-en-scene
ContingentCat: Photorealistic is nice as a tech demonstration, but as art why not something special
RockPusher: plenty of good engaging experiences that can be uncomfortable
CAKHost: There hasn't been a game styled after Michelangelo's art style. Which I think could be pretty awesome
CAKHost: Statuary or Painting
TheMerricat:
I just had a horrible thought chat... VR based Mortal Kombat style video game... in first person.
CAKHost: Eeeh
TXC2: TheMerricat (playing against Melina)...oh no.......the horror.....
TXC2:

LordZarano: My PHONE plays PC games
EvilBadman: It _streams_ xbox console games
CAKHost: I was watching an RE7 Video where they were mentioning it was going to be a VR game but when they got to the 3rd fight with Jack, they thought to put it on a boat but that might have been too nauseous for the players.
LordZarano: (GameNative, it's quite a thing)
LRRbot:
If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Please give your clips descriptive names if you want them to be seen!)
TXC2:
so make a PC then?
SK__Ren: Note this doesn't say all XBox games can also be on PC
SajuukSjet: xbox has been Windows core under the hood since the last decade, anyways
EvilBadman: @TXC2 If Xbox makes a console less than the price of a PC and has a less giant formfactor, I will buy it
TXC2:
maybe Microsoft could try making a not shit OS?
RockPusher: TXC2 there's no shareholder value in doing that
TheMerricat: I feel like a console from Microsoft these days should just be a Microsoft branded PC, possibly not upgradeable because they saved money on making everything a single board concept without sockets.
Foxmar320: A not shit OS? In this timeline?
TXC2: RockPusher darn
niccus: way too late to wrestle that spot away from steam deck
CaptainSpam: @TXC2 MS: "...so we'll be making this compatibility layer so both your console and PC games can live together under one OS!" Valve/Proton/WINE: "Hey, wait a second..."
TXC2: EvilBadman fair
EvilBadman:
@TheMerricat Great news, 2013 was 13 years ago
lightfut: If you can play Doom on it, it's an Xbox
Laserbeaks_Fury: I honestly thought they were ditching hardware
TheMerricat: Still pissed at Apple for doing that then fucking over everyone by pulling the program and punishing both the companies that bought into that and the consumers who purchased those 'faux' Macs.
LordZarano: I mean, the Steam Deck basically became the de facto reference platform. Tons of games are optimized to run ok on it these days
TheMerricat:
@EvilBadman
TheMerricat: @CaptainSpam Let's be real, Microsoft 100% would just be stealing exactly that code to do it.
EvilBadman: Like if Xbox makes something that runs Xbox and Steam games, and it's less than the Steambox, or a pre-made PC, that's super attractive to folks.
Laserbeaks_Fury: I don't blame them, there's a world where I might just wait a year to play it on PC if I don't have to buy a PS6
SocraticMethod: Also, PS to PC ports have ranged from decent to atrocious.
TXC2: Laserbeaks_Fury exactly, and Sony have probably done the maths that enough people choose to wait that it impacts their bottom line
RockPusher: Very interested to see what shakes out with Valve's supporting the FEX project to get ARM Proton running x86 games
Akaiatana: Spiders Parker is an outlier and should not be counted
TXC2: perhaps Sony is gonna do more exclusivity contracts ?
Amentur: I was looking forward to Yotei, but seeing the lower sales for PC sales I get it. Still bummed though.
BrowneePointz: like Amogus
BrowneePointz: whatever their publishing wing is called now
LordZarano: @RockPusher I was loading up Next Fest demos on my phone with GameNative and I didn't run in to any that didn't work, so it's going pretty well
Laserbeaks_Fury: I wonder if they are leveraging their Jackbox infrastructure for little fun games to play online
Gekyouryuu: Ysbryd for example
Akaiatana: It is slowly becoming book publishing, like TOR doing fantasy/sci-fi
LordZarano: Hooded Horse, for all Serge's favourite games
RockPusher: LordZarano very promising then given the time for tweaking and polishing - looking forward to a greater diversity of OEMs being able to produce SteamOS devices
TheMerricat:
Heather putting the Tsundere in Dery.
ProcyonFlynn: Talk to people, but not too many people, and don't go out of your way to talk to people, but be outgoing when you talk to people ~ Networking 🤷
Akaiatana: I keep thinking of the Split the Room Host approaching someone at a con
Akaiatana: @TheMerricat Thanks
Akaiatana: It was a 'ritual' game
Laserbeaks_Fury: WoW was that for me for awhile.
CAKHost: It's a walk not a marathon
Laserbeaks_Fury: It's a hobby
TXC2: problem was it came out during lockdown, so it was all some people were doing
SquareDotCube: ^This. Hard to not play a life sim when current life isn't great
TheMerricat:
God. It's weird to think that COVID hit in 2019 and it's now 2026 and we are still dealing with little things like habits formed in video games from it.
Akaiatana: I's like pokemon go and people opening/sending gifts every day from 20 people
EvilBadman: Pokopia does have a narrative, so there are some goals if you need the rails
CAKHost: That's fair. I got into Cataloging mostly to help others but then there were places like Nookazon that just depressed me

EvilBadman: It's got real time gated things, yep
ContingentCat: It was my first animal crossing, I liked it

I tried to “beat” animal crossing and kind of got there. Don’t really recommend it
SquareDotCube: I do feel we are becoming the generations that were just trying to do too much because we've practically been dumped all these responsibilites from older generations.
TXC2: hey Heather
RockPusher:
Heather Time!
ArtOfStuttering: Hi Heather and not Beej
EvilBadman: Dune chat!
Strebenherz:

TheMerricat: Beej, I'm scared! Don't leave us alone!
serga_maraline: did you hear about the world of darkness news regarding robocop?
RockPusher:
Heather's Anime Roundup
TXC2: I 100% Hades 2, it was..... a lot
JKBalch: I think that's my mood
Laserbeaks_Fury: Yup, I made myself a guide o 100% A Link To The Past
Strebenherz: On your BG3 thought. Bg3 is a game i've been very okay with seeing playthroughs/spoilers, because there's SO MUCHN there's still stuff i haven't seen/experienced if that makes sense
TheMerricat: I prefer 100%able games that don't gate things behind the 100%.
BlueMechanic: I very raely hundo anything. I usually get to the ed credits then have such a huge backlog that I move on to something else
maxthefourth: I 100% the stuff i want to do
ContingentCat: Fun% yeah
Akaiatana: I have been playing BG3 first time in a 4-player multiplayer and we have two guide players working to help us find the nuggets and 2 new players who are going after what's neat
Juliamon: I like the 'completionist until I'm not' mindset.
ArtOfStuttering:
I'm 100%'ing SnowRunner. I've been doing it for years with 600 hours in it, they keep adding maps. It's my chill game
RockPusher: Cutest thing you are watching this season?
Foxmar320: I only try to 100% something if the game really hooked me
TheMerricat:
Isn't that just called resignation?
Laserbeaks_Fury: I *hated* there was not an easy way to 100% the Korok seeds
glitched_goddess: everyone has different goals in gaming and it’s like not everybody knows it.
mtvcdm: I've noped out of final boss fights. I will drop your butt whenever I feel like it.
Foxmar320: oh I didn't bother even try to 100% Korok seeds
Laserbeaks_Fury: Oh, I had ot let it go too. But it bugged me
Laserbeaks_Fury: I assumed I'd eventually be able to track them
Foxmar320: I think I got like 500 in BotW
Gaelan_Maestro:
500 its my Bday and im sharing the love
DoodlestheGreat: OH YES! It's a wonderful show.
BrowneePointz: I'm very patiently waiting for One Piece LA Season 2, Steel Ball Run, and Witch Hat Atelier
RockPusher: "Journal With Witch" is *very* good
JKBalch: I've heard of that, sounds relatable
RockPusher: I think many people here would relate to these characters
serga_maraline: adding journal with a witch to my watch list
TXC2: happy birthday Gaelan_Maestro
RatherLargeToad: Witch one? Yes
Gaelan_Maestro: @TXC2 thank you ^^

LRRbot:
Thanks for the gift, Gaelan_Maestro! Welcome to jenny123009! (Today's storm count: 7)
TheMerricat: Manga added to my read list.
RockPusher: Poignant is a good word
DoodlestheGreat: Yes, good word for it.
Akaiatana: Spiritfarer is open about dying and it's great for that
Wolfstrike_NL: Trapped in a certain painting of Paris
BrowneePointz: I'm very excited for the soon dawning of Steel Ball Run and Witch Hat
RockPusher: I would be excited for that show!
Juliamon: You know we are
EvilBadman: Impossible
RubikDarkwill: How ofton have you said "this will be faster" Beej?
ArtOfStuttering: The anime roundups usually aren't on YT, right?
DoodlestheGreat: I'd say "What else is new,"
TXC2: we need Adam/Nelson to comment on the Street fighter news
DoodlestheGreat: @ArtOfStuttering They are.
RockPusher:
Video gamers being mad about stuff‽ What an unusual story!
ArtOfStuttering: Thanks for the links!
Laserbeaks_Fury: They gotta do *something* with all that work they did on Skull and Bones
BrowneePointz: I mean, could be worse. you could be a Pokemon Gen 4 Fan
BrowneePointz:

Foxmar320: SEGA where is my Sonic Adventure remake?!
Laserbeaks_Fury: Honestly, I would love a LoZ done like the recent Link's Awakening and Echoes
Strebenherz: gottem
Juliamon:
BrowneePointz I blame the time/space distortions
EvilBadman: God, I just realized I didn't finish Echoes of Wisdom, not a remake obv
kingandcommoner: I played TP HD just to level up wolf-friend in BOTW
BrowneePointz: If they did a whole ass TP remake for Switch 2 I would freak out
Laserbeaks_Fury: LoZ had *no* in game guidance
BrowneePointz:
It was called Final Fantasy
BrowneePointz: I have NO idea how I finished Zelda 1 as a 5-6 year old but I DID
BrowneePointz: God give me a full on Twilight Princess Remake on Switch 2
BrowneePointz: not a remaster, a full Remake
Strebenherz: people be wild
EvilBadman: Nintendo just give me an official lttp rando >.>
TXC2: right chat I'm off
RockPusher: 'night TXC2
Gaelan_Maestro: night
TXC2: goodnight everybody, and thanks for streaming Beej and Heather
RockPusher:
Time has moved forward‽
CAKHost: Good night TXC2! o/
Shurtal: i just beat kiwami 2 last night!
Akaiatana: Beej's Backlog is a thing to reduce!
Shurtal: nah, it's an L
MTigress: @Shurtal congrats!
Akaiatana: Don't get too addicted to bath salts
Akaiatana: What's Updad?
EvilBadman: @Akaiatana No, dad /down/
Akaiatana: Shh

mikia55: The game is good about letting you know if it matters what way you go
noSmokeFire: the plot works a lot better in 1 than 2, for sure
BrowneePointz: I like the 2nd one more cuz I hate narratives where Hades is a villain
Akaiatana: Royal Grumble
Laserbeaks_Fury: There was a time I was trying to hear all of Hypnos' comments when you die depending on what killed you
Strebenherz: yeaaaaaaaaah
Thefluffiestguineapig: great, Firefox just crashed again when I tried to open twitch to pop out the chat 😑
Thefluffiestguineapig: @BrowneePointz I agree with this plus teenage angst grates on my extremely rapidly
Thefluffiestguineapig: He might die? It's complicated
RubikDarkwill: Retcons
EvilBadman: No, play 2 at least
Thefluffiestguineapig: Also the fact thety are bringing back all the "absolutely this character is dead forever and we will never bring them back" which is a list of 6 characters is BANANAS
Laserbeaks_Fury: And sometimes they just make Han shoot second

Thefluffiestguineapig: SIX CHARACTERS TOTAL
RockPusher: Kiryu's life is already fantastical - it doesn't need continuity fixes
Thefluffiestguineapig: I think it's down to 2 now?
Izandai: Eeeh
Thefluffiestguineapig: @RockPusher Trying to do continuity fixes is like DC or Marvel doing that in the comics. You will just end up resetting the entire universe because people like the weird nonsense and side things and shit
Strebenherz: it's good longevity to give something nuance
Izandai: I think if it wasn't supposed to be ambiguous it's fine for a creator to be like "Okay I guess I fumbled this a little lemme fix that" if they have the opportunity.
Thefluffiestguineapig: I think to a degree yes, as long as it is deliberate, if it is how the creator views women and that makes it ambiguous because it is gross or gender stuff then maaayyyybe. ot
Thefluffiestguineapig: Cat stop trying to stand on my keyboard damnit!
RockPusher: Unreliable Narrators are a useful tool
Thefluffiestguineapig: @RockPusher Oh big agree, that need to be carefully used sparingly and not rolled in after release as an excuse due to bad reception
Laserbeaks_Fury: let us have our Origami Unicorns
RockPusher:
"You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!"
RockPusher: Gloomyhara-san!
Thefluffiestguineapig: @Laserbeaks_Fury And our nonsense side stories about Onomichio teaching children to be brave for medical treatment!
SocraticMethod: Reminds me of "Plot Music" from telenovelas where plot points, heroes and villains had standardized BGM so everyone could get caught up quickly without knowing anything about the series
RockPusher: She did coin a new name for the manipulative personality
kingandcommoner: I would have been fine if that became tuhej show in Tam,on
DoodlestheGreat: It's a WHOLE lot.
RockPusher: but it didn't really swing back around to it
RockPusher: Tamon-kun has high extremes
RatherLargeToad: I love the running gag on that show
RockPusher: Polar Opposites is a wonderful group of goobers
Izandai: Oh that's the title of a show, I thought Heather was saying her and Beej have completely different ideas of what this season's lighthearted show is.
BrowneePointz: also, Witch Hat comes out in a month, that manga slaps, so folks check it out when the show comes out
RockPusher: Love a goofy face
LRRbot:
If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Please give your clips descriptive names if you want them to be seen!)
Laserbeaks_Fury: I do remember the Alpha was very hard
Izandai: Sadly I cannot really recommend Prime 4. It's just okay.
TheMerricat:
Wiggins is playing it, you can watch his VODs.
EvilBadman:
You can play the FF7 Remake
TheMerricat: And Chathew DESPISES the nerd NPC.
Izandai: The parts when you're just playing Metroid, exploring environments and finding powerups and all that stuff, are pretty good. The rest of it has problems.
RatherLargeToad: gameplay is extremely good. map and story are not great
Thefluffiestguineapig: Yeah, watching Wiggins play it, it seems to go from ok to meh to OH DEAR
Izandai: MacKenzie sucks, there's no two ways about that. Unless you find that kind of character endearing instead of obnoxious, but IMO he just sucks.
RatherLargeToad: the NPCs are fine
Laserbeaks_Fury: It loses some of it's level design for open sandbox
Izandai: The rest of the NPCs are better though.
kingandcommoner: The game is too hand-holdy but also skips one critical hand-holdy moment that makes a later part much more grindy if you don't start it as early as you can
TheMerricat: They swapped the dev studio after the first one worked on it for two years.
Izandai: Dread rips, that game's great.
Thefluffiestguineapig: Oh Dread is amazing
Izandai: Seems it was something of a minor miracle that Beyond came out.
TheMerricat: I'm getting a feeling 4 is the last season of Game of Thrones for Metroid Prime.
Invitare: oh Nintendo has never understood Metroid
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat Nintendo has a lot of money, they can throw good money after bad if they want
RatherLargeToad: the series doesn’t sell all that great, so I can see them trying to find something to give it more wider appeal
SocraticMethod: @TheMerricat Nah, 3 is S8 of GoT. 4 is HotD. Hopefully we get Knight of the Seven realms equivalent
Izandai: And Retro made all the Prime games, and the ones they made all of were pretty good.
Invitare: MP4 is fine, but you can tell it had a troubled development
MTigress: my only complaint about samus returns and dread was the focus on melee countering
TheMerricat: @Thefluffiestguineapig Thing about that sort of attitude as an IP owner is you quickly run out of studios willing to put up with your BS.
SocraticMethod: 4 was started by Bandai Namco Studios. I don't think Team Ninja had involvement
TheMerricat: They had more REASON to be open world.
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat I'm just feeling less and less excited about major studios generally. The games that truly grabbed me and had me play nothing else and occupied my brain for months have all been from nobody studios or from very small teams
Thefluffiestguineapig: Right, this was open world to have it on the packaging
TheMerricat: @Thefluffiestguineapig This is me about EVERYTHING. Not just video games. But I'm an old.
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat Hello fellow old
SocraticMethod: Team Ninja was Other M
Thefluffiestguineapig: @SocraticMethod We don't acknowledge that attrocity
Thefluffiestguineapig: Thing I will say DO NOT LEARN FROM OTHER M
Invitare: the open world is mostly just there. I'm like 95% sure someone higher up wanted an open world to be like BOTW, without realising that doesn't work for Metroid. Again, troubled development
Thefluffiestguineapig: Thing to learn from Other M: never again
mtvcdm: The thing to learn from Other M: the baby
SocraticMethod: @mtvcdm the baby!
kingandcommoner: Baby Ridley
Invitare: character assassination
Thefluffiestguineapig: @Invitare Oh hard agree with this, this feels like a C-suite trying to micro-manage development projects AGAIN
BrowneePointz: "let's make her subservient to a man"
Thefluffiestguineapig: They had a writer for Samus and that felt WRONG
BrowneePointz: "for no reason"
Thefluffiestguineapig: @BrowneePointz This also felt SO WRONG

Izandai: @BrowneePointz This was the least of the problems, TBH.
BrowneePointz: No. one of the big problems of the Other M writing was being VERY sexist
Izandai: Well yes, but that goes far beyond merely "she has a superior officer".
LilyOfTheVeil666: Samus is a trans lesbian and I will hear no arguments otherwise
SocraticMethod: @Thefluffiestguineapig Dunno, the baby Ridley reveal was extremely funny
Thefluffiestguineapig: @LilyOfTheVeil666 This chat you'll probably just need to have a lore argument because we are nerds but I definitely agree with you
Thefluffiestguineapig: @SocraticMethod Oh for comedy purposes and cosmic irony absolutely, but a CEO does not need to learn from Other M's choices
mtvcdm: Sometimes you don't know what exactly will tickle your vibe
serramarkov: Dinner time for me- thanks!
BrowneePointz: they stealth dropped that sick twin stick zelda
Izandai: It's still wild to me that Other M is the only Metroid game where you acquire the Gravity Suit so you can move normally in an area of abnormal gravity rather than just so you can move normally underwater.
EvilBadman: Prolly $25 USD
RockPusher: Ah, time for Beej to become wholly obsessed
avjamethyst: oh, I am playing blue prince right now
SocraticMethod: Blueprints?
SocraticMethod: Oh, right, Blue Prince
EvilBadman: Blue Prince (homophone)
BrowneePointz: Pragmata?
CAKHost: That skateboard bus game look interest
TheMerricat:
Don't tell all your secrets Heather.
CAKHost: *interesting
SocraticMethod: Speaking of, the Red Prince joke was foul.
SocraticMethod: Esoteric Ebb feels like actual Disco Elysium 2
Thefluffiestguineapig: @SocraticMethod I'm not sure? It either feels like that or a big swing and a miss. Which I'm here for
SocraticMethod: In that it's actually overtly political instead of just wordy
Thefluffiestguineapig: I would rather companies take big swings and miss than be super safe
EvilBadman: Switch version of South of Midnight was announced today too
BrowneePointz: Midnight Walk is the one we're tryin to get the Nope Boys to play
Thefluffiestguineapig: OH YES South of Midnight RULES
EvilBadman: @SocraticMethod I want it to have VO like Disco
Thefluffiestguineapig: @BrowneePointz We're currently trying to get the Nope Bois to stop playing the boring game and move onto RE9: Requiem at this point
Thefluffiestguineapig: When did Let's Nope decide they couldn't abandon a game without finishing it?
CAKHost: Was MiniShoot Adventures brought up?
BrowneePointz: Mr Windychu and Ms Wavychu
Izandai: Eh?
BrowneePointz: They made them BOGAN tourists
Strebenherz: not wrong
BrowneePointz: well the region is South East Asia
CAKHost: OH this wasn't in the direct but I did see that Ooo was released.
CAKHost: The caterpiller bomb game
CAKHost: That got release to Switch/Switch 2
glitched_goddess: Wind/Wave Pikachu:”Hey we saw you from across the bar and liked your vibe. can we buy you a drink?”
LordZarano: I watched a stream playthrough of My Little Puppy. It's quite something. A significant part of it is based on a real world story of a dog rescue shelter worker who committed suicide
Izandai: @glitched_goddess 💯
TheMerricat: @Izandai Im_in_danger.gif
e_bloc: moonbase back?
SocraticMethod: @glitched_goddess "But sir, I'm not a Galarian Ponyta!"
e_bloc: oh if I answer they call back
Izandai: @SocraticMethod ...I just realized Ms. Waveychu has pink cheeks instead of red. That's not typical for female pikachus, right?
BrowneePointz: RIP Bluepoint
e_bloc: I love the ones that are "is this mr. (my ex's last name)"
RockPusher: I never played the original but the theme slapped!
SocraticMethod: @Izandai Nope! AFAIK it's first
e_bloc: now I'm wondering if I still have my ps2
e_bloc: the final game is the other last window
mtvcdm: i could use a sashimi ghost
e_bloc: no pressure but I'd watch the shit out of a chronotrigger stream
e_bloc: oh the 3ds is hard right
EvilBadman: Minish is on NSO
SquareDotCube: Probably not, fans know Minish Cap inside out quite well
kingandcommoner: Minish Cap is fun. Except for the Kinstones
