LoadingReadyRun: ready for special Sunday chillpoint?
exeJayce: aw heck yeah, almost time for another stream
TehAmelie: yess. i got back from dinner in time
GapFiller: !next
LRRbot: Next scheduled stream: ChillPoint (Paul, Beej and Heather chat about Video Games and Video Game related news!) at Sun 01:00 PM PDT (0s ago).
TXC2:
GapFiller
TXC2: also Hello everybody
TehAmelie: fancy restaurant where you're supposed to sit in your chair at minimum four hours for a three course meal, why do you have uncomfortable chairs? ;_;
TheMerricat:
@TXC2

TXC2: hello TheMerricat
TehAmelie:

TXC2: CONTACT
TheMerricat:
NVM chat was going to ask if you had audio.
TheMerricat:
@TehAmelie Because they want you laser focused on the food and not sleepy due to a food coma.
sag3error subscribed with Prime. They've subscribed for 115 months!
LRRbot:
Thanks for subscribing, sag3error! (Today's storm count: 112)
flouncy_magooo: Did you know that video games
TehAmelie: yes, video games
TXC2: yeah video games!
OldUncleDan subscribed with Prime. They've subscribed for 111 months!
LRRbot:
Thanks for subscribing, OldUncleDan! (Today's storm count: 113)
TXC2: TODAY!
TheMerricat: Oh that's a cool looking book Heather has.
TXC2:
twitch you NEED to stop lagging
lamina5432: chilled quickly
pleonasticTautology: hello!
CaptainSpam: It's Quickchillpoint! HURRY UP AND RELAX!!!
TXC2: hello Heather, Paul and Beej
ArtDecoSunburn: So who is drinking from the fourth mug on the table?
TehAmelie: quickchill pointchex
TXC2: I assume that's beej's brooth
OldUncleDan: Blast Chillers are effectively a Convection Refrigerator.
CaptainSpam:
@ArtDecoSunburn
TXC2: *broth
TheMerricat: Air Frying takes a lot longer than oil frying, oil has a far higher temperature conductivity.
exeJayce: hi Paul, Heather, and Beej!!
ArtDecoSunburn: @TXC2 Makes sense.
GapFiller: just imagine if Ian was involved w/ CP+
GapFiller: and how much harder this stream wd be in that case
GapFiller: E3 Season
flouncy_magooo: The only E3 I care about is PegglE 3
LRRbot:
If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Named clips with no autocaptions are preferred but not required!)
public_key_reveal_party: E3: gaming's natural disaster
public_key_reveal_party: E3: gaming's multi car pileup
TehAmelie: we can say E3 stands for electro-games exposure era
LordZarano: 20! There were 20 showcases!
GapFiller: traffic accident palimpsest!
Driosenth: the blockage travels 13 mph backwards (thanks QI!)
TXC2: that can happen even without an accident
TheMerricat: Chat, since I really only get gaming news from LRR, I know E3 is gone, and I know PAX is still around but are there any other 'convention' type deals other than the Gaming Awards any more? Or are they all just streaming announcements in place of E3?
GapFiller: TheMerricat PAX isnt E3 for starters
SquareDotCube: yeah so many of these could move to months that not much is happening, like August.
TheMerricat: @GapFiller No but for a very long time at least it was 'replacement E3' for gaming companies.
TehAmelie: does Comic Con include any videogames?
GapFiller: TheMerricat ish (they catered to dfft people nominally)
TXC2: TehAmelie only if they're comic book related I think
TXC2: tends to be movies/Tv that show up at comic con
GapFiller:

Decaped: E3 was marketing to other businesses, with the side effect of marketing to consumers
GapFiller:
hmm what is the streaming equivalent of jazz salt fueled ligging
TheMerricat: @Decaped It started out that way, I would argue that by the time it ended it was way more about marketing to consumers than it was other companies. ESP for the Video Game Entertainment Industry.
GapFiller: cz that was certainly another draw of E3 which prob hasnt been replaced
GapFiller: thing is that happend often
Decaped: It is also a fact that 14 year olds were able to get in on journalist passes before any of the direct to fan sales happened
Decaped: (Both Patrick Klepick and Alex Navarro)
TXC2: some message boards maybe?
TheMerricat: People absolutely leaked shit on Usenet for cred points.
GapFiller: video games journalists feel like the kinda people who wdve been terminally online enough even on the nineties to hope on forums and usenet as they existed back then and doing exactly what Beej is describing
TXC2: !addquote (Beej and Heather) [now] 'I am on extremely shaky scholarly ground here.' 'You always are!'
LRRbot: New quote #9601: "'I am on extremely shaky scholarly ground here.' 'You always are!'" —Beej and Heather [2026-06-14]
GapFiller: *hop on forums but that typo still works
ErynTzun: When I worked for EB Games they invited Managers to E3
GapFiller: oooh thumb wrestling
TXC2: !clips
LRRbot:
If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Named clips with no autocaptions are preferred but not required!)
GapFiller: Heather shdve made Beej yell PEANUTS! PEANUTS! or something
ErynTzun: We were not expected to write articles and I remember no instances of such, this was 1999-2005
Decaped: I remember when game magazines just lied to you to hide the leaks they were giving.
Decaped: in the magazine.
Wolfstrike_NL: The new one is: "Nintendo Switch Sport Resort"
pleonasticTautology: because "jet ski" is a trademarked term
OldUncleDan: Rollerblade vs. Inline Skating.
GapFiller: Hoover vs vacuum cleaner
SquareDotCube: I thought that was the thing going on in TLC's "Want No Scrub"
TXC2: has jet ski not become genericised ? like biro or klenexx ?
GapFiller: Birdman!
Wolfstrike_NL: Wait, that wasn't helpull, Wii had "Nintendo Sport Resort", for the Switch we had Nintendo Switch Sport, and now we're getting Nintendo Switch Sport Resort.
TheBorzoi: Wii Sports Resort is on WuHu island
flouncy_magooo: I need an official lore book explaining the Wii Sports timeline
TheBorzoi: Is it Ring Fit you're thinking of?
Juliamon: the Wuhuverse
TheMerricat: "Cold War Era Concept: Following the release of the N64 title, Factor 5 pitched an open-world Pilotwings for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii. The original pitch featured a darker tone set during the Cold War where pilots trained under the shadow of nuclear destruction." - wow chat.
TheMerricat: Which one had the skiing? I loved the skiing games.
Juliamon: Bowling is a weird sport in that it doesn't get many standalone games, it's always just a minigame
GapFiller: TheMerricat tbf given the Cold War was technically still ongoing when the SNES original came out yr can kinda see the reasoning
Akaiatana: Bowling Ballatro?
GapFiller: oooh bowling pinball xover
TheMerricat: @GapFiller Yeah but this was Gamecube/Wii era Nintendo. Cold War was well over by the time the GC came out.
Decaped: Cereal Kayfabe
GapFiller: sometimes theres just too much news
GapFiller:
actually kinda surprised All QuickPoints doesnt happen more often given this aint the first time theres been too much news by any stretch
TheMerricat: Chat Cameron told us in Talking Sim(?) or the other stream he was in that day, that he left a bomb in the Checkpoint article he wrote for us, but I never noticed it. Did you catch the shoots he fired at us?
Izandai: I actually thought it was a compilation of segments from previous episodes, not a new one. Guess I have something to watch later.
OldUncleDan: @TheMerricat I think it was the story dealing with Warhammer and mentioning buying models and putting them together and such.
GapFiller: too real Paul
TheMerricat:
@OldUncleDan Ah that would make sense both in the sort of thing Cameron would write and why I didn't notice it.
SquareDotCube: also video games journalism is dying off so people do get desperate of news sources...
SquareDotCube: correction, being killed
TXC2: being murdered
Akaiatana: 4k No loss dos?
Decaped: Do we know what kind of remake it is? I don't really want to play that game again.
Akaiatana: Blizzard took warcraft 3 away. I
Izandai: Okay but that is not the typical experience. That is not usually what has happened when people complain about remakes.
RatherLargeToad: should involve much less elephant regicide
Izandai: When this game was announced, Matt was really excited until he realized it was a co-op only game.
Wolfstrike_NL: Orbitals was first shows during the Partner Showcase of feb 2026
SquareDotCube: Back when we wen't overexposed to Japan's favorite story tropes
LordZarano: Oh, not quite
RealGamerCow: I personally don't like the PS-1 level graphics on some games lately.
GapFiller: that does just scream Send Codes tbf
TXC2: nostalgia for the nostalgia
GapFiller:
LordZarano
this is why they hate punctuation characters in urls innit
public_key_reveal_party: I think I am taking psychic damage actively
Izandai:
Wow, Beej wants to play video games with his wife? How embarrassing.
Decaped: Done 1 Done 2 or Done 3?
SquareDotCube: !findquote wife
LRRbot: Quote #2696: "Are you saying I drive like your wife?" —Ian, to Beej [2016-06-01]
Micalovits: Blue prince is a game I just... Couldn't quite finish xD
exeJayce: how dare Beej want to do NICE things with his wife. oh no, that isn't allowed.
GapFiller: cant remember did Paul and Heather costream anything other than those two Hazelight games
Micalovits: So good, but a bit to slow and slightly frustrating at the end
SquareDotCube: I got through the first ending of Blue Prince, I should get back into it
GoblinMyra: man, the blue prince notebook is real mine is a mess
Izandai: MOTHERFUCKER
GapFiller:

RealGamerCow: Blue Prince is such an immaculately designed game
Izandai: Okay whew.
Izandai: But still.
Decaped: No misnamed finches in this game XD
SquareDotCube: Beej getting all Detective Pikachu with twists
exeJayce: Detective Beejachu?
Micalovits: As a non english speaker, bus the galary puzzle
Wolfstrike_NL:
Nono, Goofy is in another announced game
exeJayce: Goofy is in Ace Combat? neat
GapFiller: eh its not Xenogears
GapFiller: at least its not Xenosaga
TehAmelie: maybe they'll some day complete that 15 game series they wanted from the start
TehAmelie: will the next one be called Xenoshield? that might sound weird
exeJayce: then here's me having not even beaten TotK yet because I'm still exploring and getting collectibles LMAO
TXC2:
"this game will be the same length as the first one right?" cut to 3 times the length
GapFiller: TehAmelie 15 games in which to paraphrase Graham talkin abt Xenosaga 3 'Guys nothing happens in any of these games!'
TehAmelie: i wondered who it was said that
LordZarano: Clearly the top game of the whole week is Flip-Flop Fury, a game about angrily throwing flip-flops at bad guys
TehAmelie: ah, an Angry Birds for our time
LordZarano: (From the India Games Showcase)
GapFiller: Babylon 5 syndrome
RatherLargeToad: to give you an idea of what you are getting into, I think I had over 300 hours on Xenoblade 2, but I was nuts and did all of the sidequests
Decaped: Revelations better be less than 2/3 the length of Rebirth
TheMerricat: "To make each individual title in the series accessible for newcomers, a new cast of characters is introduced each time. Contrary to the developers' claim of making the games standalone experiences, a few characters have returned as part of the overarching narrative....."
RatherLargeToad: Go to bed cat says go to bed
TheMerricat: "While the Xenoblade games do not share any setting directly, its universes are directly linked, except for Xenoblade Chronicles X, which is regarded as a spiritual successor to the first game."
Izandai: Golden Week baybee
GapFiller:
theres a reason George Lucas started w/ Episode 4
TheMerricat:
@GapFiller
TheMerricat: "While often grouped together as a "meta-series," Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade are three distinct, standalone JRPG series. Conceived by director Tetsuya Takahashi and developed by Monolith Soft, they share overlapping philosophical themes (psychology, religion, and Gnosticism) and familiar character archetypes, but they are completely separate in-universe."
gnyrinn: That's a bit like spring in Europe: What holiday is today? Easter? Mayday? Summer-day? Ascension? Whitsun?
DoodlestheGreat: Father's Day.
TheMerricat:
Chat, I can't remember was the new GoW from this latest batch of announcements or before them. That looks kickass, finding out that Faye is just Woman Kratos.
RatherLargeToad: I’m looking forward to FF Resonance. They completely redid the combat system from when it was a mobile game, and now it’s basically Personal combat
Thefluffiestguineapig: Welp I'm late today
gnyrinn: @DoodlestheGreat Is that an actual holiday? Like a "don't turn up to work and/or school" holiday?
TXC2: hello Thefluffiestguineapig don't worry, this is an unusual day for chillpoint
Izandai: @TheMerricat That was a new announcement as far as I know.
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TXC2 Ok, good
DoodlestheGreat: @gnyrinn Well, it's always a Sunday so nobody's at work/school anyway.
TheMerricat: @gnyrinn "Yes, Father’s Day is an official national holiday in the United States, celebrated annually on the third Sunday of June. It was permanently signed into law as a national holiday in 1972 by President Richard Nixon." but important to note, it's not a Federal "day off holiday" in the US.
LordZarano: Another neat game from the week, Bulbo's Belief System, is basically that Crapshot of not believing things you can't see. And if you don't believe it it doesn't exist. So you can fly by stopping believing in gravity. From the Latin American Games Showcase
BlueMechanic: I am interested in playing Mum of Boy
whitebadgerwolf88: I quite enjoyed Sony's State of Play, but the later small tease of a new Spyro game has me super excited!!!!!
TXC2: US fathers day and UK/EU fathers day are not the same day
Juliamon: Neither are mothers' day
Juliamon: it's just one of those holidays every country comes up with independently
Izandai: Do any of you care about Kingdom Hearts?
RatherLargeToad: Weekend at Kratos’
TehAmelie: remember the guy who took a year off dead for tax reasons? lucky SOB
gnyrinn: @Izandai Ask again during DB
GapFiller: Izandai theyll prob cover that when they talk abt the KH quickpoint
LRRbot:
If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Named clips with no autocaptions are preferred but not required!)
Micalovits:
@gnyrinn Only 6 days till DB express!
whitebadgerwolf88: It actually wasn't on the State of Play, at some point revealed during Summer games fest. Sorry if that was worded weird
pleonasticTautology:

Snowcookies: I heard LRR has one
SquareDotCube: The abridged Jungle Cruise movie recreation was great for the Dave the Diver DLC
Thefluffiestguineapig: The trailer for that DLC was super cool
Thefluffiestguineapig: Oh that would piss me off
Thefluffiestguineapig: On switch I don't think the PowerWash DLCs are free IIRC
TXC2: right chat I'off
GapFiller: like Neo Geo not being able to run Doom
TXC2: Goodnight everybody, and thanks for streaming Heather, Paul and Beej
Thefluffiestguineapig: Sleep well, extra well since LRRMans TXC2
Thefluffiestguineapig: So Fast and Furious
KadmosTech: inside and outside? that's BOTH sides!
Thefluffiestguineapig: LMAO
TheMerricat: If I were doing that Beej, they'd need to add bird poop.
GapFiller: not even Desert Bus does that
Thefluffiestguineapig: Legally distinct McDonalds
SquareDotCube: Floorboard trash a foot deep
SquareDotCube: Or your player can just grab from the trash and throw things mid-race
GapFiller: bird magnet car
GapFiller: good idea to park it underground
Pazy160: Whenever I see Beej wearing that shirt I always think of my favourite MTG art, Foxfire.
accountmadeforants: Stealing Ian's street plums
ContingentCat: his plums
Snowcookies: road tree plums
Juliamon: He should have put the plums in his icebox, that would have solved it!
accountmadeforants:
That was pretty early on in the 24 hours though
Pazy160: It is a beautiful shirt and suits Beej well. Great taste.
TheMerricat: Yes!
TheMerricat: Wonderful program.
accountmadeforants: I'm aware of it but have never used it
ErynTzun: Yes, it's awesome.
SquareDotCube: Did you befriend a man wearing a white business suit and red shirt while you were there?
accountmadeforants: You can get Blender on Steam nowadays
ErynTzun: You can make animated wallpapers from video
TheMerricat: It's super powerful you can do games and videos and pseduoRainmaker type stuff
accountmadeforants:
It's that one unique feature of Windows Vista Ultimate
ErynTzun: Which was possible on older versions of windows
Thefluffiestguineapig: 0.o
Juliamon: Parked domain page
aerolend: Did those specific wallpapers die?
accountmadeforants: @ErynTzun Specifically Vista Ultimate yes (it was called Dreamscene) and I don't think any other version of Windows
hideki101 subscribed with Prime. They've subscribed for 17 months!

Thanks for subscribing, hideki101! (Today's storm count: 114)
MungoDude: hello friends
LordZarano: Oh no
LordZarano: dot app is owned by Amazon I think?
TheMerricat: "What actually happened a few hours ago was that a single background request for the Discover tab in the app got redirected from HTTP to HTTPS, which due to an unfortunate turn of events accidentally pointed the entire request to the now infamous GoDaddy purchase page of the fake wpx.app domain instead. Fortunately, the beta version completely solves the underlying problem anyway. "
Juliamon: And it *doesn't end there*
accountmadeforants: Yeah they'd already fixed it in a new version, but didn't think it was super important (compared to other bugs in that version) since it wasn't actually going wrong yet.
accountmadeforants: Yeah that's just sensible
Thefluffiestguineapig: OF COURSE YOU WOULD
aerolend: Oh, no. I hope the dog is ok.
accountmadeforants: It'd be great if software couldn't break on its own and you could leave it at "don't fix what isn't broken", and yet...
aerolend: Is the dog ok? I'm invested in the dog. I don't care about the software.
aerolend:

TheMerricat: These guys have given me way more than the $20 USD I paid for Wallpaper Engine, they even have an android app that lets you import your wallpapers from your PC onto your phone if you want to match. I'll give them this hiccup.
Juliamon: People did ask in the comments, I'm skimming now
accountmadeforants: Yeah that was one of the very first questions someone asked on Steam (but at that time the surgery hadn't happened yet)
accountmadeforants: "For everyone asking about the dog: Dog surgery went well . "
aerolend:
@accountmadeforants
TehAmelie: this feels a bit like when Sweden had a big forest fire just when all firefighter helicopter pilots were on vacation. these tiny organizations just don't have backup personnel for all eventualities
SquareDotCube: They've been doing it for over a decade
TheMerricat: They don't sell music or movies _anymore_ at least stand alone.
KadmosTech:
all games are software
Snowcookies: it's technically a visual novel
SquareDotCube: I think it started in 2014
accountmadeforants: You can get one interactive issue of PC Gamer on Steam. (I remember because it was around Tribes Ascend's beta.)
TheMerricat: They stopped selling Movies years ago.
SquareDotCube: or 2013
ErynTzun: Yes there was a behind the scenes documentary for a game I bought published on Steam
JKBalch:

aerolend: Digital artbooks as DLC for games do exist.
JKBalch: Banzai buddy?
SquareDotCube: The idea was that the software was for indie game development
Pazy160: Not as a category but there are books and manga as DLC for games.
MungoDude: it was originally to keep counterstrike up to date
GapFiller: speaking of RPG Maker...
ErynTzun: There are so many digital pet games on Steam
accountmadeforants: But yeah there are also things like software to make the DualSense's haptics work wirelessly (which involves a custom bluetooth driver), interesting stuff.
freyjaviking94: I got bongo cat as my pc pet
TheMerricat: The Datahoarder gang on Reddit are already on getting a full back up of the forums, they are just waiting for the forums going readonly.
GapFiller: forogtten the timeline of things did the RPG Maker news come out after this weeks episode
ErynTzun: Which isn't surprising that game genre has been around for decades
lightfut: Did they release confidential data on government equipment?
aerolend: "Developer Gotcha Gotcha Games is planning to create a new RPG Maker site, called the RPG Maker Guild, but in doing so, they're closing the current RPG Maker forums. There will be NO archive or backup once the forums are closed. "
SquareDotCube: One piece of software on Steam I know of is Aesprite which has become the de facto tool for pixel art given the others have mostly been left behind with age or dropped support
aerolend: on December 11th, 2026
ErynTzun: @freyjaviking94 I love bongo cat, but the RNG is pretty bad for getting anything Epic
aerolend: Sounds like a bad way to do it.
GapFiller: 15 years of history
TheMerricat: Chat I'm still dreading the infopocolypse when Discord finally goes down.
accountmadeforants: I can't imagine it's even that much data to back up
GapFiller: pour one out for the LRR forums (speaking of dead forums)
freyjaviking94: @ErynTzun I don't care too much about that, I just like the cat bongoing away on my second monitor while I play games
aerolend: So... Destiny 2 getting an offline mode?
ErynTzun: @TheMerricat People should not have to rely on reddit to figure something out because it's all separated out into Discord
CaptainSpam: Consternation, you say?
RatherLargeToad:
Destiny 2 fans all hated Destiny, up until its end was announced
accountmadeforants: @aerolend Assuming Bungie remains solvent they probably won't bother, you can still play Destiny 1 online after all.
Thefluffiestguineapig: When is Silksong?
Thefluffiestguineapig: I missed that
accountmadeforants: (But yes an offline mode would be preferable)
LordZarano: You can buy free software Krita for $9.99 on Steam if you want
GapFiller: see what yr did there Beej
aerolend: @accountmadeforants I'm sure they won't even if they do dissolve.
accountmadeforants: @aerolend Oh yeah I'm not counting on them thinking ahead, given their history.
Pazy160: I still maintain that Destiny 2 should have been frozen when they decided to delete content. I will never not be annoyed at Bungie for removing content I paid for and enjoyed.
RatherLargeToad: Hotel Barcelona. You can check out any time you want, and that’s fine
RatherLargeToad: @pazy160 yeah, I don’t think basically any of what I played of Destiny 2 way back when is even playable these days
Decaped: We can only hope Sony makes the same mistake Microsoft did with Halo Infinite and we get Destiny 2 remake in 10 years that takes 5 years to fix after it comes out.
accountmadeforants: @Pazy160 Yeah, they'd been complaining about their development pipeline for Destiny 2 being way too slow/a pain in the ass pretty early on. Surely there was cause to start working on 3 at *some* point in the past decade?
GapFiller: RatherLargeToad pazy160 wasnt that a whole part of a recent court case w/ parts of the game no longer being accessible
Decaped: @accountmadeforants That basically got scuppered by the Sony aquisition. Sony wanted them to lead the way on their live service games......all of which failed before Bungie got to touch them.
Pazy160: @GapFiller Yeah, someone sued them for stealing their story but Bungie don't have a playable build to show it only youtube videos from fans.
MungoDude: Spy Fiction, Deadly Prermonition, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die
RatherLargeToad: @gapfiller that does sound familiar. I’d complain more, but I got Destiny 2 for free via PS+, so at least I’m not out any money
accountmadeforants: Also that mystery game with the JJ woman?
aerolend: The one I've played by Suda 51 is Shadows of the Damned (2011). Was quite unique.
accountmadeforants: He's not as big as Suda 51, but he definitely makes weird games
TheMerricat: @LoadingReadyRun about the only notable game by Swery that _I_ was previously aware of was Deadly Premonitions.
Thefluffiestguineapig: Which of them made the cheerleader zombie killer one?
ErynTzun: Flower, Sun, and Rain[a] is an adventure video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Victor Interactive Software for the PlayStation 2 in 2001. It was initially only released in Japan. A port for the Nintendo DS (DS) was developed by h.a.n.d. under supervision by Grasshopper Manufacture. It was published by Marvelous Entertainment in Japan (2008) and North America (2009) and Rising Star Games in Europe (2008).
pleonasticTautology: to a t
TheMerricat: @Thefluffiestguineapig Lollipop Chainsaw is a Suda51 game
SquareDotCube: Same with the dev that made D/D2/D3/D4
MungoDude: Suda51 made Lollipop Chainsaw, and the No More Heroes series
ButButTheJesus: @Thefluffiestguineapig yeah Lollipop Chainsaw ah you beat me
aerolend: I don't think people mention MGS often when they just say Kojima, either.
GapFiller: oh right yeh Keita Takahashi did Noby Noby Boy aswell as KAtamari
GapFiller: and Wattam!
TheMerricat:
@SquareDotCube D4 was Swery at least.
MungoDude: I was thinking of Yoko Taro who made the Drakengard and Nier games
aerolend: There are?
Thefluffiestguineapig: He's tried to make other games
Pazy160: I think of Zone of the Enders 2 way too much.
GapFiller: it figures Snatcher and Policenauts are a kinda shibboleth for a particular kinda Kojima nerd
aerolend: Policenauts
TheMerricat: "Nintendo"
radiowasabi2014: they’re secret boyfriends
Thefluffiestguineapig: Animal Crossing?
ErynTzun: Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, Zone of the Enders
MungoDude: Donkey Kong
aerolend: I tend to find a longer list then I might expect every time I google someone like that.
Lysander_salamander: Mac the Night
aerolend: On their wiki page.
TheDailyMapleSyrup: Kojima is worth many norwegian kroner
Lysander_salamander: Doug Jones
pleonasticTautology: technically "drakengard" is included when you say "nier"
TheMerricat: Is he the one that looks like the McDonalds character? Or is it a 'full' moon?
GapFiller: neu hedcanon is like those shironuri cosplayers
ContingentCat: Like how Teller speaks not performing
radiowasabi2014: achkually it’s Emil’s head lol
pleonasticTautology: @TheMerricat full moon
aerolend: While search engines still work somewhat.
GapFiller: yrve no idea what they look like w/o the makeup on
Bruceski: Basically Yoko Taro has an anxiety about seeing himself on camera (which isn't uncommon) and has turned it into branding.
aerolend: Senua's
Thefluffiestguineapig: Right, those games
aerolend: It's just Senua now.
aerolend: It is, yes.
TheMerricat: Psychological Trauma, Hell Blade 2
Thefluffiestguineapig: They tried to make mental health games and..........it sure is a thing
ErynTzun: Yes you hear voices, it is very creepy to play with headphones.
accountmadeforants: Senua getting more games (and focusing on combat) feels... very strange.
ButButTheJesus: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was the first one
LordZarano: Yup she has psychosis
aerolend: They teased the third game as Hellblade 3 originally. Now it's just Senua.
GapFiller: is this another Dark Forces situation in the making
Lysander_salamander: why though?
accountmadeforants: Shin Megami Tensei: Hellblade: Senua
Pazy160: I need video games to have consistent names. I can follow the oddness but the moment I try to get friends into the games this nonsense puts them off.
Micalovits: It will in 3 years!
aerolend: Wiki currently lists it as: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice --> Senua's Saga: Hellblade II --> Senua
GapFiller: Dark Forces: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy: Jedi Uncle Tom Cobbley ect
MungoDude: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2017); Hellblade II: Senua's Saga (2024) (Formerly Senua's Saga: Hellblade II); Senua (2027)
TehAmelie: guess it took them a while to figure out Senua is a much more unique and memorable name than Hellblade is
ContingentCat: Like the spiderman movies
MungoDude: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
ButButTheJesus: I'm reminded of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (the third in the trilogy)
raulghoulia: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Tale
GapFiller: linking back to the previous conv imagine if the Nier games were explicitly treated as Drakengard spinoffs
Thefluffiestguineapig: Yahtzee used to do the dry heaves for unnecessary colons in a game title
MungoDude:

radiowasabi2014: so if the second is electric boogaloo what’s the name of the 3rd
aerolend: God of War Laufey
SnowBuddy18: a James Bond Spliff
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat Yeah, that's for drawing reference
ContingentCat: A James Bong Rip
aerolend: Senua is recognizable to whoever played the first ones, because that's the name of the character.
TheMerricat:
@Thefluffiestguineapig And Quentin Tarantino.
pleonasticTautology: technically incorrect
GapFiller: as Graham and Matt got into on FRWL James Bond movies have tended to come a croppa when getting into the weeds of continuity
raulghoulia: The Adventure of Link
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat Oh that's the joke I was making
TheMerricat:
@Thefluffiestguineapig
SquareDotCube: Zelda II was Dark Souls before Dark Souls
aerolend: Different packages of Destiny 2 were quite confusing to me, having never played anything but a bit of the base game, before they released the current final package. (Might still be, haven't looked at it.)
radiowasabi2014: temple music ftw
Decaped: I still need to play A Link Between Worlds
pleonasticTautology: it does that in link's awakening too
Bruceski: Link's Awakening and the Oracle games have some of that
radiowasabi2014: with goombas and piranha plants too
Bruceski: Dark Forces: Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast
aerolend: (Also, I highly recommend trying Senua. One of my favourites. Quite unique, though, probably not for everyone.)
MungoDude: @radiowasabi2014 Breakin' (1984) (Also known as Breakdance); Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984); Rappin' (1985) (Also known as Breakdance 3)
Lysander_salamander: Jedi Academy
TehAmelie: i should replay Senua. . .
Thefluffiestguineapig: Can I have a Jedi librarian game?
aerolend: @TehAmelie That and I should get to the second game.
Lysander_salamander: Starwars: Dark Forces: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy?
Thefluffiestguineapig: That game would be way more rad than people give it credit for
SquareDotCube: Rebel Strike
TheAinMAP: ^
TehAmelie: same, probably, if i still have the steam for it after 1
GapFiller:
hmm how does this compare to just giving every game in a series the same name a la Mortal Kombat and its many identically named reboots
Bruceski: I'm allowed to be angry at the FF7 Re-names, right?
accountmadeforants: Game publishers have an obsession with colons in titles
ErynTzun: Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force, but then it was Star Trek: Elite Force II they took Voyager out of the title
SquareDotCube: Rebel Strike is the one they decided missions needed on-foot sections
ArcOfTheConclave subscribed at Tier 1. They've subscribed for 96 months!
LRRbot:
Thanks for subscribing, ArcOfTheConclave! (Today's storm count: 115)
Decaped: I totally forgot they already made an OoT remake for 3DS
aerolend: It's the same with Xbox consoles, too. Sony wins the naming with their consoles in that aspect.
Bruceski: FF7 Remake, Rebirth, Revelation, Revengance
MungoDude: Star Wars: Dark Forces; Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II; Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith; Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Outcast; Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
aerolend: Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat 1
SquareDotCube: and that killed Medal of Honor
accountmadeforants: @aerolend Which is wild considering the names Sony uses for all their other products
Pazy160: Part of me wanted Lords of the Fallen 3 to just be "Lords of the Fallen" for the third time.
Micalovits: Prey(2017)
Bruceski: Sonic (2006)
pleonasticTautology: sonic the hedgehog (2006)
SquareDotCube: Doom 2016
accountmadeforants: God of War (2000-boy)
MungoDude: Doom; Doom II; Doom III; Doom; Doom Eternal; Doom: The Dark Ages
SnowBuddy18: Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) and Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)
SquareDotCube: @MungoDude And Doom 64!
ErynTzun: Some of the Code Names the consoles have are better than their real names
MungoDude: @SquareDotCube I always forget that one because it didn't come to PC until so much later
TehAmelie: movies have the same problem but even more. i think we have to reconcile the fact that everyone wants sequels with the idea that sequels with too many numbers are unlikable
TheMerricat: I woke up today with news articles saying that Xbox is going to be spun off into its own company.
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat I really want this to be TRULY REAL
MungoDude: Half-Life; Half-life: Opposing Force; Half-Life: Blue Shift; Half-Life 2; Half-Life 2 Episode 1; Half-Life 2 Episode 2
accountmadeforants: Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein 3D (no relation, but yes relation), Wolfenstein (2007)
Decaped: Spinning off XBOX in the middle of the worst hike in hardware prices would certainly be a choice
ErynTzun: @MungoDude They put Doom and Doom II on the Gameboy Advance and that was very weird at the time.
aerolend: I hate the pivot back to exclusivity. At least the two games they announced as Xbox console exclusives at the summer fest seem to be coming to PC. Better than Sony, but... -_-
ErynTzun: @ErynTzun We did sell more GBAs than usual becasue of it lol
MungoDude: @accountmadeforants oh boy, there are so many Wolfenstein games. There were two 2D ones before Wolf3D
aerolend: Emergence day.
Pazy160: While I can understand Microsoft and Sony pulling back from games on other platforms it's frustrating for it to happen to an existing series. I believe Horizon 3 won't be on PC despite the first two games being on PC.
aerolend: Yes.
Micalovits: Being the only platform without exclusives unfortunately hurts that console a lot
aerolend:

aerolend: I'd probably play that.
Thefluffiestguineapig: This is genuinely obnoxious
accountmadeforants: @MungoDude Yup there was also Beyond Castle Wolfenstein from the original devs. Wolfenstein 3D was made by Id because the original trademark had expired (I think? I'd have to check? But it definitely wasn't by the original devs.)
aerolend: @Pazy160 They're following Nintendo's lead in that.
aerolend: I hope one day we get some sort of a 0-latency universal interpreter that just allows everything to be completely compatible with all platforms.
TheMerricat: @accountmadeforants "an unauthorized 3D sequel to the 1980s stealth games by Muse Software. Shortly before release, they investigated the rights and realized the trademark was completely abandoned. They simply purchased the name Wolfenstein for $5,000."
Micalovits: its the struggle of being a game publisher versus a console
MungoDude: @accountmadeforants apparently they bought the rights to the name when they made Wolfenstein 3D
accountmadeforants: @TheMerricat Ah slightly better
aerolend: I like Skyrim approach.
aerolend: It's not as restricted as some others with their Play Anywhere feature.
Thefluffiestguineapig: But now they need X-Box to actually be a console people want
ErynTzun: I have only ever owned the original Xbox because you could play a lot of their games on PC. And I only got that Xbox becasue my PC at the time sucked, and you could mod the Xbox to inlclude a larger hard drive, and I used it as a media center and loaded games on the HDD so they would load faster.
KarolinaLinaLina:
ngl I don't care how well it does for them, I just think this sucks for the hobby
ErynTzun: Once I built a good enough PC, no reason to buy the Xbox since then.
Decaped: Heather is making a great point. TO me, this bodes ill for expectations of the next generation of console...ie, do they even happen.
Micalovits: In the current market of hardware, not anytime soon
accountmadeforants: I think Xbox has also suffered a bit because Smart TVs have gotten Good Enough. I know a fair few people who used the Xbox One for Netflix and such, and barely for gaming. Now that excuse is gone.
Thefluffiestguineapig: If it crashes X-Box, honestly what do we lose
Micalovits: @accountmadeforants Like PS3 and BlueRay
aerolend: I think I want EU to mandate the USB-C of video games. -_-
OldUncleDan: It's worked for Nintendo!
accountmadeforants: Not with how much consoles cost nowadays
TehAmelie: i did buy a PS4 for Horizon Zero Dawn. it was a mistake
aerolend: I want to play Orbitals. My current budget does not include a Switch 2 purchase just for that.
Pazy160: It's odd that Gears 1, Gears 1 Ultimate, Gears 1 Reloaded, Gears 4, Gears 5 and Gears Tactics are on PC but 2, 3 and Judgement are not on PC. It would be nice to get the whole story on one platform and not be missing a chunk.
pleonasticTautology: i find it wild that they did it *this long in the console's lifetime*
ErynTzun: There isn't just one Xbox, Series S $399.99, Series X Digital Edittion $599.99. Xbox Seriex X 1TB $649.9.
Lysander_salamander: there are a few games that have tempted me to get a console. But I don't have the money for it
iconicshadow89: Pokémon did that for me and the switch
ErynTzun: System sellers have been a thing since video game consoles have been a thing
accountmadeforants: @aerolend I'll probably get a Switch 2 if it gets an OLED version and hopefully a compelling bundle.
ErynTzun: A ton of people bought the Switch 2 because of Pokopia that might not have done it so early otherwise
Lysander_salamander: Plus, there's the price of hardware, thanks to the datacenter nonsense
accountmadeforants: Because Pokopia does seem pretty fun, and there are some Switch games I'd like to play with better performance
Decaped: "so late in the console cycle" is the thing i'm questioning
ErynTzun: The Playstation 2 sold more consoles because it was the cheapest way to get a DVD player at the time'.
aerolend: @accountmadeforants I'll probably just wait a few decades for it to be emulateable on PC, unless my budget changes in that time.
accountmadeforants: It'd make sense if the price of the Xbox had come down instead of what we're dealing with nowadays. I got an Xbox 360 with Halo ODST for a song towards the end of its lifespan.
Lysander_salamander: It's a christianity thing
JKBalch: Is this the glass cliff?
aerolend: Random thought: PCs with each component being a plug and play rectangle. Console brands making modules that interpret their "game cartridges' for compatibility.
TheMerricat: It's entirely possible she's being setup as that _without_ being told.
accountmadeforants:
@aerolend You've just reinvented arcade cabinets, I think
TehAmelie: i like it
TheMerricat:
@aerolend We call those "Optical Disk Drives"
aerolend:
@accountmadeforants I don't think those were as plug and play as I'm thinking.
LordZarano: ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X
aerolend:

aerolend: @LordZarano Those are words.
LordZarano: @aerolend Sure are
ErynTzun: There were plenty of other people who made handheld windows consoles before Microsoft decided to partner with Asus. ANd it's actually been decades of handheld consoles
TheMerricat: Did anyone happen to see how well or not so well Gray Newell did in Le Mans?
LRRbot:
If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Named clips with no autocaptions are preferred but not required!)
GapFiller:

red_shoes_jeff: Hugh Mann.
gnyrinn: All names are made up, essentially.
Thefluffiestguineapig: BAHAHAHAHAHA
Thefluffiestguineapig: That's astounding
TheMerricat: @TheMerricat Oh wow, his team placed 3rd.
accountmadeforants: @TheMerricat 3rd for their *class* specifically, not 3rd overall
accountmadeforants: Which must be very difficult for his father, having to deal with the number 3
ThanhtTheBoss: This cannot be somebody wants to beat up the CEO?
RatherLargeToad: or putting Ronaldo in Fatal Fury
TheMerricat:
@accountmadeforants
Thefluffiestguineapig: This is so much work
Micalovits: Someone just wanted to see their boss get beat up
TehAmelie: how hard would it be for a megacorp to make up a person and get them on wikipedia?
aerolend: You should put your video game into your CEO.
1 raiders from FreakWithPen have joined!
ContingentCat: legally distinct CEOs
ThanhtTheBoss: I would love beating up Kobby
GapFiller: wasnt this basically Mugen
DoodlestheGreat: Kobby Botick
aerolend: I think I've seen that done at some point.
DoodlestheGreat: Kobby's ass would be grass.
TheMerricat: Mission Impossible chat.
aerolend:

aerolend: Actually sounds like a great plan.
JKBalch: Heather has made a promise
TheMerricat:
Chat, they _did_ lock down the Pentagon this week due to a 'fake' environmental problem.
ContingentCat: heather knows things
aerolend:
@JKBalch
Thefluffiestguineapig: @TheMerricat Was it a gnarly fart?
GapFiller: Neo Geo Doom for nxt SGF
LordZarano: It's also Steam Next Fest starting *tomorrow*
Thefluffiestguineapig: Also for real, was there a new Silksong thing
Thefluffiestguineapig: @LordZarano So how much W+P fodder?
RatherLargeToad: a lot of releases on October 22
Thefluffiestguineapig: Also Nintendo doesn't give a shit
Micalovits: Going to be very funny when GTA VI is delayed again
aerolend: (Speaking of games. I have a couple of keys about to expire. Does anyone want Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition (2009) or Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition (2014)?)
RatherLargeToad: Investors? You can by a spray for that
Thefluffiestguineapig: What are the chances of that and also I think they have a more balanced view of what "flopping" is

aerolend: I'm definitely not. Not buying a console for it. Gonna wait for the PC version at least, and even then, probably until it's on sale.
Thefluffiestguineapig: Yes please
TehAmelie: @aerolend i could take a Shadow of Mordor pls
ContingentCat: So now we'll know if they were holding off just for Paul
LordZarano: I might buy whatever the Devolver thing is that comes out the same time as GTA6
MungoDude: I'm excited for Barbie Rewind coming out in November
Micalovits: I doubt it will be ready for november, but Total Warhammer 40k would probably not care at all about being next to GTA
SnowBuddy18: well, GTA6 comes out, but everyone else is running screaming, it's pretty easy to release then
Thefluffiestguineapig: -.-
aerolend: Yeah. It's certainly GTA it's being delayed because of, uh-huh... Not any other reasons...
GapFiller: Chris Roberts obv in cahoots w/ Rockster
PipeSmokingOwl: Honestly at this point the memes around Star Citizen are on par for hype as GTA6...just with the (derogatory) tag lol
TehAmelie gifted a Tier 1 sub to aerolend! They have given 20 Gift Subs in the channel!
LRRbot:
Thanks for subscribing, aerolend! (Today's storm count: 117)
TehAmelie: a reciprocation gift :3
GapFiller: why lie when the truth can be told the right way eh
Micalovits: Statistics are just a very complicated way of lying :3
SnowBuddy18: Oppenado
aerolend:
@TehAmelie
Micalovits: Mina is good, but does have some oopsies in design
RatherLargeToad: I’m getting a bit tired of corpse run systems being tacked on to games
TheMerricat: Boshy
Thefluffiestguineapig: Yes
PipeSmokingOwl: MMOs had corpse run backs long before dark souls lol
radiowasabi2014: mega man 1
Thefluffiestguineapig: That is correct Heather
TehAmelie: in my opinion you need a stamina bar most of all
PipeSmokingOwl: try getting your corpse from Lower Guk in Everquest
SnowBuddy18: "difficult bosses" is why people call it a Soulslike now
ErynTzun: Gameboy color is what it's based on, the super game boy could only play original gameboy games so its color was limited.

TheMerricat: "When the philosopher Plato defined a human as a "featherless biped," the rival philosopher Diogenes mocked him by plucking a chicken, bringing it into Plato's classroom, and shouting, "Behold! I've brought you a man!""
accountmadeforants: @GapFiller Yes
accountmadeforants: Sinker Sailor Toddler Fly
ContingentCat: Not Jesus just Heather
Decaped: Fishing game renaissance going on right now.
aerolend: Senua is certainly one. Bad Magpie is another. Will wait for a PC version of GoWL and Wolverine.
accountmadeforants: This is only the second rhythm fishing game aware of. (The other is the minigame in Holocure)
aerolend: Real fishing can probably be classified as a rhythm game.
ErynTzun: Wilder-ings
Decaped: Horror fishing, rhythm fishing, rpg fishing...
TehAmelie: or wilde-rings?
goombalax: WOOOO Arams
Micalovits: Ah yes, a horror game on CTS
Thefluffiestguineapig: I believe it was none
aerolend: ARAM, because we can't afford DRAM.
Thefluffiestguineapig: And this is to teach him
accountmadeforants: ARAM, the mode I've been assured is both the only fun way to play League and the least fun way to play League
ErynTzun: Skyrim is a series of bugs cobbled together to be a game
ContingentCat:

goombalax: @accountmadeforants True and based
TehAmelie: "nobody took that bet"
LordZarano:

pleonasticTautology: isn't this brian david marshall's new game?
aerolend: @accountmadeforants Both statements are probably true.
DoodlestheGreat: Though it's been fun watching Adam play POE2 this past couple weeks.
LordZarano: Thought you were gonna say "a game designed by a rat"
