Dalrint: Go steal someone else's chair!
lukasms00: Hellouw
lukasms00: Nice boots
OldUncleDan: Fair enough.
Dalrint: That means you can go use the best chair in the building, right?
ArtDecoSunburn: As someone who works in a museum, I'm curious about this scheduled game.
RocknGrohlNerd: is canadian tuxedo, just double denim ?
ArtDecoSunburn: Is it natural history museum, art, science, history, what? Combo?
INCSlayer: Matt is Light with Mood LIghting today
Didero: @ArtDecoSunburn Last time it was fossils and stuff
ArtDecoSunburn: Never seen it. It's a simulator?
ArtDecoSunburn: Lighting is key in museums.
CristinawithaK: I bought this game last week and I've been so addicted ^^
MLPCopperMoon: I liked two point hospital, it was quite relaxing and it felt really accessible
JadedCynic: comedy 'management-simulator'
MLPCopperMoon: I wonder how two point museum is different to it
ArtDecoSunburn: Silly is nice. So don't expect accuracy. Got it. Museum away!
INCSlayer: Aminals!
Didero: Art!
CristinawithaK: art :)
Didero: Should start a poll
MLPCopperMoon: Animals, I say
JadedCynic: art
Wolfstrike_NL: +Animals
chaos5896: art
Didero: The only possible choice is art of animals
ArtDecoSunburn: Art of animals? Animals that make art?
MLPCopperMoon: Paintings of dogs playing poker here I come @Didero
OldUncleDan: Is he baptised?
TheMerricat: Not that I expect anyone to remember but these are spiritual successors to old Bullfrog Games Theme Hospital but they moved from Hospitals in the original Two Point game to other stuff
ArtDecoSunburn: @TheMerricat I remember that brand.
OldUncleDan: @TheMerricat So, maybe we will see Two Point Dungeon Master in the future?
OldUncleDan: Or Keeper.
TheMerricat: @OldUncleDan mattlrLul
MLPCopperMoon: Two Point Evil Genius?
MLPCopperMoon: I guess you can already be an evil genius in the current games
ArtDecoSunburn: So this Fitzpocket is a little like Alice Walton and Crystal Bridges museum?
ArtDecoSunburn: Never let donors curate. Mistake number one.
ArtDecoSunburn: @MLPCopperMoon There are definitely evil geniuses in the art world.
LRRbot: If you see something funny or particularly noteworthy, make a Clip of it! Your clip could appear in a fortnightly video or be seen at https://www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun/clips (Named clips with no autocaptions are preferred but not required!)
INCSlayer: You shouldnt buy people Matt
ArtDecoSunburn: So are we a revenue dependent museum, or can we have free admission?
INCSlayer: Woohoo i have a job!
ArtDecoSunburn: Sure. Happy to be whatever needed. I'm a curator in real life, so fun to take a different virtual role.
INCSlayer: ahh yes the staff room goes in the staff hole
chaos5896: lol, who you callin' a staff hole XD
ArtDecoSunburn: Just make sure the staff room is sound-proofed to hide the sobbing from the teenage docents going through teenage stuff.
Didero: Won't that make it harder to fit stuff into a room?
ArtDecoSunburn: Free sandwiches? Already you'll have your pick of staff applicants.
Didero: That's good of the game
MLPCopperMoon: The artless gallery. Ceci n'est pas un musรฉe
Didero: Like 4'33, except visual instead of aural
ArtDecoSunburn: For example, the last three galleries I worked on each took 9 years each to plan. I'm on a quick-turnaround gallery team now, and that's 2 years.
MLPCopperMoon: It's interesting for a museum to hire an artist for a museum. I thought usually they bought art instead of making it?
ArtDecoSunburn: The real money comes from the cafe, the gift shop, and an IMAX. Can we run 3-d Monet's water lillies on a giant screen for $25 a ticket?

INCSlayer: Thats profound Matt
INCSlayer: im filled with joy? that doesnt sound like me
ArtDecoSunburn: @MLPCopperMoon Some museums have artists in residence. some have young artist de velopment programs.
MLPCopperMoon: Oh, interesting! Sounds nice.
ArtDecoSunburn: Most museums don't directly buy art. Donors buy it and give it to the museum.
ArtDecoSunburn: Sorry. Typing on my Blackberry.
MLPCopperMoon: Despite living in Paris, I don't know that much about museums, which I admit is unfortunate
ArtDecoSunburn: @MLPCopperMoon At scale, nothing is like the Louvre in terms of how many people they run through a year. They're the Atlanta airport of museums.
MLPCopperMoon: Oh wow, I've been hired! :P
wordnerdify: Good morning LRRFriend, good morning chat
JadedCynic: oh, Happy Non-Binary Pride Day!
Anaerin: !show override bonus
ArtDecoSunburn: So we're not really doing any sort of thematic galleries?
empyreon: riffHeyGuys
ArtDecoSunburn: Or that comes later?
MLPCopperMoon: I think this is a gallery themed on "art". There was another one that could have been themed on "animals"
JadedCynic: what?!? Adequate staffing levels? UNTHINKABLE! Kappa
ArtDecoSunburn: @MLPCopperMoon Last year I got to know an artist at the National Gallery who was commissioned to design a modern piece that would interact and reference a room of old master paintings, but reference space and the future. It was a very impressive installation.
wolphiron: It's a Matt! Hi Matt c:
MLPCopperMoon: @ArtDecoSunburn That sounds lovely!
ArtDecoSunburn: What staff like most is having their own bathrooms outside of tourist zones. Got to play up the swipe card access staff floors.
wolphiron: The description of the game sounds like Josh Johnson's description of watching a toddler wreck a museum security guard by replenishing his Apple sauce covered hands and running around to touch all the paintings ๐Ÿ˜‚
wolphiron: Bathrooms go into the weird corners so they can be hidden
wordnerdify: It would be more weird if the bathroom were an island in the middle of the museum floor
wolphiron: @wordnerdify OMG , with no wall so the person using the bathroom becomes an exhibit ๐Ÿ˜‚
Mangledpixel: hanitize!
Didero: Do we charge for the bathroom?
ArtDecoSunburn: @wordnerdify Could be an artistic statement on the transience just public prominence of human waste.
wordnerdify: @ArtDecoSunburn I think it's been done before
ArtDecoSunburn: @Didero I know some museums that would if they could.
INCSlayer: ohh its cheese i thought it was a big potato
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn I love it, as long as I don't have to use it or see others use it ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
ArtDecoSunburn: Played by Grant Wood's dentist.
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn Depends, if it's a public bathroom or not. I had to pay for outdoor bathroom use in Paris
ArtDecoSunburn: Shout out to Steve Biel's book on "American Gothic." He was an undergrad advisor of mine.
ArtDecoSunburn: @wolphiron That's more of a European pay toilet thing, though, right?
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn I think so, yes
ArtDecoSunburn: Imagine a museum with only one emotional register. I've been there -- the Munch museum in Oslo. Everything is despair.
Didero: i like trains
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn But he survived the summer that never was, bc of that one volcano eruption covered the world, right? The same even created Frankenstein and Dracula
Didero: You're right, Matt, not placing everything on the grid does make rooms look a lot better
ArtDecoSunburn: Is there any space for scholarship in our museum? Do the curators have offices? Is there a library?
ArtDecoSunburn: @Didero Agree.
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn BTW I'm thinking of Munich's scream series, painted to capture the volcano disaster sky
wolphiron: @InconsiderateHat We were talking about bathrooms in chat, so, maybe you're right ๐Ÿ˜‚
ArtDecoSunburn: @wolphiron Once you've seen the fifth variation of "The Scream" in a row, you start to despair. Never had I so much embraced the sunlight outdoors upon exiting. And I like Munch!
InconsiderateHat: @wolphiron A very important subtopic - people can't think about art if they need to poop.
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn I'll have to put it on my bucket list! I haven't seen any of them in person and I would like to look at the less famous screams
ArtDecoSunburn: I do like the staging of that art, slotted into panels.
INCSlayer: Cool
INCSlayer: i do like slaying inc
JadedCynic: @InconsiderateHat and then while they're busy pooping, THAT is when they think about the art they just saw
wolphiron: @InconsiderateHat No, we were talking about bathrooms in corners and imagining what would happen if we put it in the middle of the museum with no walls ๐Ÿ˜‚
MLPCopperMoon: I saw the scream in person too! They opened it at regular times, so light didn't damage it, I assume.
ArtDecoSunburn: Last year I got to learn how they hang a thirty-foot long straight piece of art on a curving wall at the Hirschorn. Lots of engineering involved.
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn That sounds fabulous! I like informative explanations like that
INCSlayer: @ArtDecoSunburn i would have assumed the just bent the art
Mangledpixel: a bad manager. a banager.
ArtDecoSunburn: @MLPCopperMoon Neat. The Munch Museum has a couple of different versions, kept in deliberately dim galleries. Natural light is art's worst enemy.
ArtDecoSunburn: You definitely need a gift shop. Astronaut ice cream sales at my museum pay for my conference travel.
AMillionCatsOnTypewriters: Can you make it so they must exit through the gift shop?
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn Hey do you know about the @art_deco channel on YouTube? The person does art analysis on famous paintings, including the history and some of the messages put into the paintings
ArtDecoSunburn: Art books sell well. Tote bags. Magnets. Puzzles. Notecards.
JadedCynic: a few years ago, driving taxi, I was in a minivan and we discovered if you lower all the seats, and bring it up in the gap between the front seats, you can fit an 11' long framed canvas inside a Dodge Grand Caravan and close the back hatch securely. :)
InconsiderateHat: @wolphiron Thus the fear of losing the social acceptance tier of Maslow's pyramid would prevent them from satisfying their more base-tier need to poop. ....Or would it? *thoughtful chin-stroking*
wordnerdify: Well, this is serendipitous
ArtDecoSunburn: @wolphiron Oslo has some underrated museums. Worth seeing.
Mangledpixel: lrrGARBO
MLPCopperMoon: Well, that's appopriate
wolphiron: @AMillionCatsOnTypewriters The necessary evil for museum survival, I love that you suggested it ๐Ÿ˜‚
JadedCynic: and still....kinda profound in a way :)
ArtDecoSunburn: @InconsiderateHat Nicely timed to the current artwork.
InconsiderateHat: Incredible
ArtDecoSunburn: @JadedCynic Assuredly the preferred way of transporting Old Masters.
Didero: inks layer

ArtDecoSunburn: @wolphiron Painters do as much mixing as cooks, almost.
JadedCynic: @ArtDecoSunburn it still left me enough field of vision to see my wing mirrors, so no blind spots, and we were travelling on suburban side roads so not much traffic. brought the surprise birthday present to its destination promptly, safe and sound :)
Didero: Maybe turn it off and on again?
ArtDecoSunburn: @INCSlayer Insurance would not like that. Also throws off the lighting.

Mangledpixel: I'm the one that does intro animation stuff :)
ArtDecoSunburn: The museum version is naming hallways and conference rooms after donors/patrons. The really big donors get whole galleries, hence how I curated a space named after Raytheon.
Mangledpixel: yes?

JadedCynic: :D
ArtDecoSunburn: Surprising revenue generator -- penny stampers and those inverted cones that race nickels or quarters.
Mangledpixel: errr, typo
OrcishArtillery: One of those Ps should be a D :)
wolphiron: @ArtDecoSunburn Little known fact, we've had American colleges named after donors during the early years. But Yale is named after the second highest donor, bc the first donor had Dummy as a last name
Mangledpixel: you typed Mangleppixel
