NarwhalsInATrenchcoat: huh, that's a weird feature to add

Electrodyne: A-wing control panel is the greatest single Lego piece from a story perspective
RealGamerCow: SquareDotCube that's real nice

raven534: Wait, is the placard exclusive to UCS models?
SquareDotCube: Or it's Gargoling Dong! :P

TacitusVigil: My mini-Starfleet fighter should be coming in soon!
Sun_Singer: did you say gargling dong?
Arclight_Dynamo: Wedge is the best Rebel pilot. Don't @ me.
raven534: Yes, if you drop the O, @Sun_Singer
Master_Gunner: Hey, Luke doesn't have 2 Death Stars on his X-Wing
62MGcobra: Red 2 to Red Leader till the end
SquareDotCube: One of the features of the A-Wing (which never gets explored) is that its mounted guns rotate, though its effective use leave it susceptible to flanking fire
PhorrestGaze: all starwars characters are made up
plummeting_sloth: I love that Wedge is ever present in the various star war fighter games because the actor was always game for VO work
e_bloc: I also wish to remove mr. dong
Sogheim: Kylo Ren's real father, what a nice man
Electrodyne: A good SW game is to take a drink when Wedge appears
Arclight_Dynamo: No Z-95 Headhunter love? Kappa
raven534: Snooting Boops, Ian? I thought you were above that
Sogheim: I bought some small bagged Lego sets 'cause why not and some of the new pieces are just wild
DarkMorford: I *loved* the X-Wing novel series back around the time I was in high school. Stackpole and Allston did some good work on those books.
Arclight_Dynamo: @DarkMorford Ditto! Part of why I like Wedge so much - I identified with "the old man in authority" as a kid. :D
Arclight_Dynamo: I also preferred Stackpole back then, but Allston more now.
DarkMorford: @Arclight_Dynamo I actually got some "practical" use out of book 3, I think it was... I actually knew what sort of things to object to when my social studies class did a mock trial. :D

TheManaLeek: I've yet to make it to a Lego store but next time I'm in Toronto I'm getting to one
bill_tinn: lrrCREEPL
kusinohki: but only a rambo lego figure can wield the gun
tipulsar85: How is Ian?

DGatsby: Solidarity!
Laogeodritt: Oh, Ian, I don't know if I've mentioned: I'm working on a PVC pipe trumpet! Need to get materials to continue the project though.
TheManaLeek: We do it out here in London at 7 as wel!
plummeting_sloth: the king approaches!
TheManaLeek: Less trumpet tooting here though
odamadillo: Oh here in the UK we have clap for the NHS
plummeting_sloth: We do something similar in Baltimore, but with Gunfire
Meark: I mean we moved the 9 o'clock to 7 o'clock,
Erzrig: I must say this stream is great to have on while I work on my own project!
HoloTheWiseWolf_: hey chat hey ian how goes the lego cad
SquareDotCube: Back to UCS for a moment: I'm hoping with that A-Wing cockpit glass, we get the Naboo Starfighter next year

jubale1: plug-n-play model building
MadameAdversary: I wonder if anyone watching (or Ian himself) is familiar with Mobile Frame Zero-- it was (is?) a minis game using Lego suits that are built primarily from tiny pieces (1x1) and smaller and a whole mess of Travis bricks.
jubale1: this is weird using a pc for designing lego constructs
MadameAdversary: The end results are actually well articulated.
Meark: Is that what that is called?!
jubale1: did i understand right you have lego but don't want to use it?
SquareDotCube: All good models must be disassembled, after all
plummeting_sloth: "Dear Ian, get stuffed" -Paper
Mysticman89: the transparent pieces don't render how I'd like to imagine
SquareDotCube: There's an option that can cloud and scratch transparent pieces
SquareDotCube: I see a piece and I want to make it black
fastlane250: Use more gun
TacitusVigil: Did somebody say Megaforce? [thumbkiss]
SquareDotCube: Megaphones, for when your gun needs to be powerfully loud!
fastlane250: The support!
SquareDotCube: (Disclaimer: does not work in space)
SquareDotCube: You might want to use the Connect tool for putting those on.
Arclight_Dynamo: Trailer hitch?
SquareDotCube: Connect lets you select one stud or socket or another and connects the tood
SquareDotCube: two
tipulsar85: !drink
Laogeodritt: Also: I'm fascinated by the fact that we now have LEGO CAD tools.
Laogeodritt: I mean, other than Minecraft.
Laogeodritt: How's that tool feeling to you, Ian?
SquareDotCube: This is a good time to test Connect.
tipulsar85: Lego CAD predates Minecraft.
fastlane250: Don't ever go looking down the rabbit hole of "really oddly-expensive single lego pieces"

mercano82: Well, once you get your AE autocrafting system set up...
SquareDotCube: Shift-G creates a submodel so you can move a whole section at once
Laogeodritt: I tend to like Minecraft as an engineering/architecture game (I tend to do redstone) with resource management and some automation/industrialisation setups (more engineering!) that reduce your manual mining/crafting effort. But when it comes to rare resources, I cheat. Find them once, glitch replicate them, because it's way too much work setting up Prismarine farms just to have a nice old-copper-looking roof.
Laogeodritt: Glad to hear the tool works well!
odamadillo: That I'd
Agnememnon: thats offset by one from the other side
SquareDotCube: something something aerodynamics in space
RealGamerCow: Minecraft never stuck on me, but I love playing Satisfactory, which has had many people say "Do you play Minecraft"
Pterodactal: Great naming conventions
SquareDotCube: If you doubleclick the submodel, it will grey out any other parts not in the submodel
SquareDotCube: really helps with needing to adjust something without selecting the wrong part by accident
RechargeableFrenchman: Speaking of spaceflight, Ian did you ever get into Kerbal Space Program? It seems like it would be either very much or very not your kind of experience.

tipulsar85: That certainly is a ship.
tipulsar85: lrrIAN_SG
Armstrong11139: @tipulsar85 Would you say that you...ship it?
SquareDotCube: yeah rotation and moving on an axis is a bit stiff
kusinohki: is that a specific kind of ship? I swear I've seen it before...
Mysticman89: Do you have any special digital archiving system? You seem like the kind of guy to have tape lying around.
TheMoatman: Ahh, pissbombs
62MGcobra: is that a railroad piece?
TheMoatman: A most dangerous weapon
RealGamerCow: Tape only lasts 7-10 years.
Arclight_Dynamo: Etch the bits directly into silicon.
RealGamerCow: only slightly longer than CD/DVD
TacitusVigil: Have you tried stone carvings in hieroglyphs, Greek, and Demotic?
TheMoatman: I thought they used sapphire for that?
SquareDotCube: My headcanon? It's a scout bomber made by a bunch of raiders repurposing the mining equipment on the asteroid their base is on
DarkMorford: @Arclight_Dynamo I mean, EEPROMs aren't exactly super expensive... :P
fastlane250: Okay, I wanna know how you got a 4.5v/12v straight rail piece, because that didn't appear too often outside the train sets of the time.
Arclight_Dynamo: @DarkMorford :D
TheMoatman: I only store my data in cat-based quantum memory
RealGamerCow: Arclight_Dynamo Project Silica?
Mysticman89: oh interesting, I thought tape was the go to for hardcore mass digital archival. what is the best solution there?
Arclight_Dynamo: I'm not sure there is one.
Orlantia: they look like Tom servo
tipulsar85: That looks like Tom Servo with a red head.
SquareDotCube: >insert isolinear chip comment here<
RealGamerCow: The company I work for makes femtosecond lasers, it's a neat process.
Ashton: tHE dEVicE does not age
tipulsar85: lrrFINE ?
tipulsar85: Are you sure @Ashton ?
TheMoatman: No, T H E D E V I C E ages those who approach too close
12mrfrog: make it have big wheels
Mysticman89: Ah yes, the device operates on a principle of conservation of time.
TheAinMAP: Oh, that's new.
Arclight_Dynamo: One of my fears is that the entirety of modern communication passes through a mechanical Bell switch installed in, like, 1890 somewhere. And it's going to fail at some point.
Ashton: :D
12mrfrog: do a donut
control_rig: Do a barrel roll
DarkMorford: Ian, just get a metric buttload of EEPROM chips and burn all your data 256 KiB at a time. Kappa
TheMoatman: katesLewd
12mrfrog: Squid1 Squid2 Squid3 Squid4 TwitchUnity
12mrfrog: do a barrel roll
Xafty: that sounds like something i would do
Laogeodritt: Ah, yes, the good ol' CLONK feeling.
Arclight_Dynamo: "Pa-chunk!"
Mysticman89: There might be server drive bays that...well, not so much that last bit
12mrfrog: oh that sound like a good project
kusinohki: so a toaster drive?
TacitusVigil: seaQuest DSV?
Laogeodritt: Is this the mechanical keyswitch of removable media? =V
MadameAdversary: Sounds like those old ZIP disks.
Xafty: putting something like a movie onto EEPROM chips sounds like it would be a fun progect that is 100% a bad idea
BasilHunter: so much better than Zip Disks
SpookySpaghooti: Hey all! I came for Legos, I saw Legos, and now I will conquer Legos
tipulsar85: Zip drives have done the same thing for me. Disks leaving the drive at Mach 2
SquareDotCube: You were a kid, you didn't know
SpookySpaghooti: I used to have this program on my old computer and it was literally my favorite piece of software
12mrfrog: when is the next derst bus
Pterodactal: lrrFINE
Arclight_Dynamo: Thanks Ian!
SpookySpaghooti: Have a good one everyone!
tipulsar85: Night Ian.
12mrfrog: when is the next derstbus
Angnor33: Thanks Ian!
Juliamon: 12mrfrog We don't have a date yet, since *gestures broadly at world*
TacitusVigil: Thanks for the stream!
odamadillo: Thanks for the Stream Ian.
DarkMorford: @Xafty Yeah, considering how many chips you'd need. :P Though considering how cheap SSDs are getting, keeping a bunch of m.2 sticks in a shoebox might not be the worst long-term storage. *shrug*
RockPusher: Thank you Ian lrrIAN tiltyhEXTREME
fastlane250: lrrAWESOME
12mrfrog: when is the nextderst bus
Laogeodritt: Thanks for the stream, Ian! See you Friday (?)!
Laogeodritt: @DarkMorford And m.2s are so small compared to the 2.5in format too.
Laogeodritt: Maybe a little less stackable, though.
Juliamon: !schedule
