GlennSeto: God, that sneeze made me wince... what a year it has been.

TehAmelie: in pointless trivia, water is the only drink that's not a beverage
wildpeaks: to be fair, it's the tutorial and we picked the easier mode
Twilight_Spark: Oh yeah, I'm not super critical of the devs from a game standpoint.
Solipsody: @Blue_Anteater Haven't ever actually seen that one yet.
JadedCynic: "Roit, who tha hell is THIS toff? Ah, better not muck with him - might be a Royal for all I know."
GlennSeto: @Solipsody I prefer the Downey Jr. version to Cumberbatch, because he's not written as a complete sociopath who doesn't get people, but still magically deduces motives.
Blue_Anteater: @JadedCynic The deerstalker hat was from the illustrator, who liked wearing one. IN the stories, it was a simple cloth hat, and yes, only for outdoors adventures.
Mangledpixel: you were the one who dressed him ready for golf or something
JadedCynic: oho!

Solipsody: @GlennSeto For sure. As Involume observed, though, nobody beats Jeremy Brett. RDJ's kind of following in his footsteps, in fact, with the more physical version of Holmes.

wildpeaks: the tailing mission in Death of the Outsider was fun, although too short
JadedCynic: @niccus uh, there'd be SOOO much licensing involved with that...it WOULD be wonderful tho
HorusFive: Also, how suspicious is seeing an urchin walking behind you vs seeing them take cover as you walk. Just fly casual
Prof_Poppinoff: well well well
Solipsody: Also, aren't you a generic urchin? Wouldn't this guy, like the rest of society, totally ignore you?
Despoiler98: oh no the Po Po
JadedCynic: parkour sim in 3...2...
InkyGhoast: we ass creed now
RandomTrivia: Dammit Cori I was just typing that!
Involume: Go Wiggins, go!
JadedCynic: that was handy; good thing he didn't go straight or right at that intersection
niccus: the game should let you combat roll
Prof_Poppinoff: must have been the wind
Despoiler98: just my imagination
JadedCynic: I mean these streets aren't exactly teeming with people...
JadedCynic: go through the pub
Despoiler98: YA THINK?
TehAmelie: really all you'd need to be a master detective in Victorian England is give street urchins money to spy for you
Alahmnat: um
Prof_Poppinoff: sweeping time
RandomTrivia: Well this got very Assassin's Creed
Solipsody: @TehAmelie You called it!

DaxStrife: Black Lung Simulator 2020
Prof_Poppinoff: sings *too many mechanics*
Involume: I got the Black Lung, pa!
JadedCynic: yeah, here's the rub - the clients often didn't really care about DOUSING THE FIRES while sweeping was going on
naThanathos: Is sherlock the chimney sweep?
Twilight_Spark: Trying to escape from your life in late stage capitalist dystopia? Here we have a minigame simulating EARLY stage capitalist dystopia!
niccus: well yes the kid is going to die from this, but it's a long term case
Snowcookies: I can't believe we have to clean chimneys while chasing a man
TehAmelie: we still have one lung left
quasi79fu: How big is this chimney?
Despoiler98: and THAT is how he got lung cancer
JadedCynic: add to which this might even just be sheer asphyxiation and pass out in the chimney
RandomTrivia: Do we need to Assassin's Creed harder?
Pteraspidomorphi: Mind powers!
InkyGhoast: it's the tutorial so ever forward
margieargie: With the power of your mind, apparently
Solipsody: It's okay, Holmes will give him tupence for all this later, so it's all worth it.
norivia: psychic powers
JadedCynic: @quasi79fu small enough that yes, children were used for this
Despoiler98: ok seriously was victorian London actually covered in all this scaffolding? Cause I've never seen this in the pictures
Prof_Poppinoff: pat your belly and rub your head
Foxmar320: omg that looks miserable
ContingentCat: !ing
Pteraspidomorphi: Holmes must pay really well
quasi79fu: and sooo he feellll to his death and was not heard from again
TheMerricat: definately meant for controllers.
Snowcookies: ning
captain_potato_pc: wow this child is REALLY ready to die for this job
RandomTrivia: This kid's balance isn't very good, that beam is plenty wide enough
bakerydragon: oh wow
JadedCynic: okay, I guess we're not a Descendent of Ezio here LUL
tergonis: nobody look up!
norivia: remember, if you fall, loosen up and you'll bounce
TehAmelie: i'm starting to think a twins stick controller would be good for this twin stick stuff
Prof_Poppinoff: lol
Solipsody: They really didn't have a lot of faith in the detective bits to hold your interest, did they?
BTC1220: How many children have died under Holmes' orders???
TheAwkes: This balance minigame looks pretty good?
x0den: holmes pays in exposure.... to danger
JadedCynic: @captain_potato_pc hey, he wants to eat, right?
Mysticman89: t pose for dominence, not for balance
GlennSeto: I'm glad you're staying on brand.
quasi79fu: why is this kid not in the circus?
HorusFive: Good thing Victorian healthcare was so good for street children
djalternative: if 8 stories is survivable then 2 stories is
Involume: Man these kids work hard for a shilling
DaxStrife: Wasn't this supposed to be a mystery game with Sherlock Holmes?
CAKHost: I didn't know investigation work was so dangerous!
JadedCynic: heck, maybe in his past, Holmes might have saved this lad's life?
GlennSeto: Why is this kid so willing to kill himself for Sherlock Holmes?
Foxmar320: wat
PixelArtDragon: Wait, these are almost exactly the same rooftops as the ones in Dishonored!
Solipsody: So, does Wiggins have a blade implanted in his hand so he can drop on this guy for a stealth kill, or...?
captain_potato_pc: @JadedCynic well so I guess it would be drath either way *shrug*
OldManJohnsonMB: "anything is better than selling newspapers"

norivia: take 'em and wake 'em and shake 'em all over
GlennSeto: I see birdshit is a universal signifier of climbable surfaces.
quasi79fu: Does Sherlock pay the kid enough to do this??? I would ask for a raise
Talin06: so why are we a kid doing this and not homes?
virre_: I only remember the verse about putting him in the bed with the captains daugther from the campfire sing-alongs in scouts
JadedCynic: @Despoiler98 more like a shilling - food for a week
gwentara: "Shave his belly with a rusty razor! eaaarly in the morning!"
BTC1220: no crouch. only cutscene.
NavelWarfare: Evening team! What do we think of the game so far?
Involume: Holmes is too busy doping up
Mysticman89: good secret
GlennSeto: Look that kid is gonna earn 4 shillings and that money will put him through college.
JadedCynic: yay minigames!
TehAmelie: the verses suggest: put him in the longboat till he's sober, put him in the bed with the captain's daughter and other random things. you're never quite sure if they want to help the drunken sailor or hurt him
Alahmnat: shoe shining minigame
OldManJohnsonMB: Very convenient he needed a shoe shine
Despoiler98: OMG shoe shine simulator 2020
RandomTrivia: Wipe with cloth first, then brush
RandomTrivia: Have neither of you ever brushed a shoe before?
Solipsody: WHY?
JadedCynic: yep, apply polish with small yep, and finally chamois
RandomTrivia: It was in the 1800s!
Dashiell: One (1) shiny shoe
Despoiler98: yay money
Involume: SHINE YA SHOES GUV'NOR?
JadedCynic: you don't POLISH your shoes
readyforperfect: so was that just so he could get a little side hustle mid-chase?
niccus: what was that for
JadedCynic: (which we will give to our friend who leant us the kit)
Prof_Poppinoff: the two brushes and tin of polish is all you need
OldManJohnsonMB: "Come back! I need to do the other shoe!"
quasi79fu: Omg they can smell Poverty????
Solipsody: You should have been able to smear polish on the soles of his shoes so he'd be easier to follow.
TehAmelie: i so want someone to mod Ron Swanson into this as a shoeshine customer
JadedCynic: those are ratting dogs, they wouldn't be kept as 'sentries' or similar
quasi79fu: wheres Harry Potter?
Snowcookies: not good doggos
djalternative: *translator note: poverty smells like snausages
JadedCynic: @quasi79fu on platform 9-3/4
RandomTrivia: Just have a gentle jog behind the cabbie
Solipsody: @djalternative Or do snausages smell like street urchins, so as to train dogs?
SpoonfullOfSugar: vanished light the night
Drew_64: you have terminator chase him
Mysticman89: the clip clop of the horse matching up with your gait make you sound like a horse
margieargie: It's that Victorian London fog/smog, can't see the hand in front of your face
quasi79fu: He found the Matrix?
Despoiler98: HOW DOES HE NOT NOTICE THAT
JadedCynic: some of y'all never played 'Summer Games" in the arcade, and it shows! LUL
Solipsody: The speed ramp? Really?
RandomTrivia: I'm surprised that wasn't a QTE out of nowhere
Blade_Tiger: This is giving me flashbacks to Assassin Creed 3's horrible eavesdrop segments
GlennSeto: So what I'm getting here, is that Cam would not have survived on the streets of industrialization London.
DaxStrife: This kid is shockingly dedicated to this job.
TehAmelie: that was a whole minigame just to replicate that one scene in Les Mis huh
GhostValv: london potholes amirite gamers :)
Pteraspidomorphi: To be fair he probably thought it was a pothole
JadedCynic: @RandomTrivia ...what do you mean it was NOT? :D
TehAmelie: that one shot, even. where Gavroche jumps onto the back of that carriage
RandomTrivia: @JadedCynic I meant the actual jump
JadedCynic: yay, for poor upkeep
Despoiler98: who leaves that big a hole in your estates wall?
Snowcookies: how convienient
Alahmnat: the sky seems super blue for industrial-era London...
quasi79fu: That man has Guns
RandomTrivia: Ah yes, even back in the late 19th century we alreadu jad automatic doors in England
TehAmelie: today on McMansionhell
OldManJohnsonMB: If your wall can't keep up urchins, why bother with a wall at all?
JadedCynic: nah, shanghai'd back then meant going on a Royal East India Company ship to....well, Shanghai
Solipsody: I'm really glad you guys are plaing Wiggins: The Devil's Daughter today. I was afraid it would be some dumb game about a genius detective instead.
Alahmnat: @TehAmelie lol
madmansk: that window has plot armor
Prof_Poppinoff: Alahmnat yeah this almost feels european in setting, too nice for london
RandomTrivia: Window must be covered in handprints

GlennSeto: He'll come back in 15 years, a decorated veteran, still haunted by the sounds of the jungle.
tergonis: windows too dirty, gotta clean em and get more black lung points
Involume: Look at all of those Chekhov's guns.
quasi79fu: Poe Tay Tooooes
JadedCynic: the Navy would just set up a couple of brightly-dressed marines with a petty officer handing out The King's Shilling (don't have to kidnap when you can bribe 'em and they come running to YOU :)
TehAmelie: alternate punchline: "only two people live here? i could move in and they'd never notice me"
GlennSeto: Smart boy.
readyforperfect: what no drawing minigame?
quasi79fu: where did he have a pecil and piece of paper stashed?
Alahmnat: I'm amazed there wasnt a "draw the crest" minigame
JadedCynic: just had a scrap of paper and a bit of pencil in a pocket?
RandomTrivia: @quasi79fu Hammerspace
quasi79fu: How did he have paper?
Solipsody: Now for the thrilling "Getting back to where you started" minigame!

JadedCynic: yeah, why aren't we doing the drawing? :D
rustenskurk: I just got here, what we doing?
Involume: LOUD
Mysticman89: notification sounds was weird. kinda loudish and also maybe doubled?
JadedCynic: yeah, Cori - speak up for the devs with no voices ;)
TehAmelie: we're being Sherlock Holmes-adjacent
GlennSeto: @RechargeableFrenchman That's how we know the hunter in Jurassic Park wasn't English.
wildpeaks: stretch a glass of water
DragonicDudeYT: im surprise sherlock has not turn a paper clip a wad of gum and a chicken egg into a orbital strike cannon
RandomTrivia: !break

Despoiler98: Stretch WHILE Relieving your self
margieargie: Drink a glass of water, or beer, depending on whether you're the suspect or not
Prof_Poppinoff: Despoiler98 the best feeling
JadedCynic: streamer & game seem quiet - had to max stream-client volume and then turn up my headphones...and yeah, that sub-notifier is LOUD as a result :P
Involume: In the spirit of Sherlock Holmes, I'm going to be strung out on the couch doing morphine.
Solipsody: I should actually go make supper. Catch you on the VOD. Don't tell me who did it, I want to see Wiggins catch the guy.
TheRealRedal: Ahh that old classic
Juliamon: The volume issue has been ongoing, we've told Paul about it but there's not much else that can be done
JadedCynic: where's my laudanum?
GlennSeto: Not sure if we're all getting the same ads, but here's your periodic reminder, that Ubisoft is a poorly drained warren of abuse.
quasi79fu: may i ask wtf does poorly drained warren mean?
Mysticman89: ah, ok so it's some actual issue instead of just a easy knob to be dialed. not ear melting anyway so no biggie
Juliamon: quasi79fu a flooded den
quasi79fu: tanks
Juliamon: with stagnant water
quasi79fu: delicious
JadedCynic: @quasi79fu with no context; I'm assuming a 'warren' in this case is the noun - animal den (often rabbits)
Mysticman89: also people are probably not getting all the the same ads, they tend to be vaguely regionalised
Involume: Sub notifier almost woke my baby up
quasi79fu: Dance magic dance ...jump magic jump
TehAmelie: i think "most" of chat is subbed too. no ads for me
GlennSeto: Sorry, I suppose "gutter" would have worked better.
quasi79fu: oooh I know about gutters
quasi79fu: wait that sounded wrong
jessieimproved: LRR chat is overwhelmingly subbed, compared to other chats that I've seen
TehAmelie: "I'm not Julia Roberts, I'm no VIP, not even an IP. just a lonely P sitting in the gutter"
Juliamon: The overall implication is that ubisoft is gross and terrible anyway

TehAmelie: bread is almost all they had
Juliamon: That loaf is dried the heck out now
PixelArtDragon: It's the sliced thing since best bread!
jessieimproved: I *could* also eat that much toast
CAKHost: Please tell me there was a dog.
RandomTrivia: Probably just blank toast and there wil be a preserve of some kind
jessieimproved: if you're lucky, some jam
GlennSeto: I have had more toast during breakfast as a kid.
Involume: Go consult the archives
kirbytronic: Maximum toast
CAKHost: DOG

RandomTrivia: This girl has read too many light novels

Involume: If I remember, making deductions is a fun part of this game
Despoiler98: perfect
GlennSeto: Monsignor!
wildpeaks: incognito
TehAmelie: would a pastor have a beard?
TheMerricat: FYI chat, that is Katelyn Holmes (Katelyn Moriarty) whom Holmes adopted in a previous game after Moriarty requested he take care of her after his death.
GlennSeto: No beard?
RandomTrivia: As we know, preacher's outfits are timeless. Pastor present, they are recognisable lrrBEEJ
HungryCavalier: The daughter's backstory was in an earlier game (Testament of SH)
OldManJohnsonMB: No collar and beard?
GlennSeto: @TheMerricat Did Moriarty at least have the decency to die for real after that?
DaxStrife: Given the time period of this, I'm surprised Holmes doesn't have a "racist Chinese stereotype" disguise.
TehAmelie: ah, Holmes and Moriarty, the original Kismesis relationship
TheMerricat: @GlennSeto the game claimed so but you know how supervillains are...
Juliamon: DaxStrife Or maybe the devs wanted to avoid that deliberately?
Despoiler98: Moriarty had a KID????
GlennSeto: @TehAmelie Elementary did that really well.
Involume: Well I guess Holmes is a FATHER.
GlennSeto: @TheMerricat He is THE original supervillain.
quasi79fu: I dont trust this guy
RandomTrivia: Ah, a Bond-style disguise, where you use your real name

Lithobraker: Pssh inductive reasoning, I only use propane reasoning
RandomTrivia: Time to rifle through their possessions!
Silver_Kn1ght: RandomTrivia boooo
TehAmelie: magnetic induction boils water super fast, therefore induction must be fast, and inductive reasoning is too. checkmate atheists
SplittingImage77: Yeah, it was a little too fourth-wallish
Alephred: Is this from the same team that did The Sinking City?
siltyroach: It does give me Sinking city vibes. I like that one

BlueMagnusStormCrow: heat
BlueMagnusStormCrow: Not head
Nigouki: D:
TehAmelie: tea-vision? is this the family friendly version of Holmes who only takes tea recreationally?
Nigouki: doggo minigame!?
RandomTrivia: Doggo?
InkyGhoast: examine photo on wall?
madmansk: of course, why didnt I think of bringing the gunhound
readyforperfect: that's how dogs work

How_Do_I_Shoot: why would sherlock holmes need to look that up? isnt he supposed to have an eidedict memory
InquisitorGaia: did you know that if you have your headphones plugged into your phone they wont play the audio from your computer
The_Voices: pocket dog!
ArkhamArchivist: HoboHolmes
siltyroach: Dont put your dog in a bag of holding
RandomTrivia: @How_Do_I_Shoot Maybe he hasn't read that one before?
snowmonkey99: Why is Jon Hamm solving crimes wearing *that* hat?
wildpeaks: nonsense, we have nothing better to do than walk our good doggo
TehAmelie: Holmes probably has most of the same skills Harry does. well, except for all the Psyche ones
InkyGhoast: no we have to go to hurts's house
TheMerricat: not marsh's house, hursts house
siltyroach: makes for a sad DM reminding you theres no oxygen in there
How_Do_I_Shoot: combine do with rag
InkyGhoast: WATSON wants to go to Marshall's house
TheMerricat: you are using toby to find the scent of the oil
InkyGhoast: we can only bring one sidekick at a time apparnelty
How_Do_I_Shoot: aret basset hounds bad at smelling
ulexarX: Hurst's House. In the middle of our street
ButButTheJesus: lets go pupper!
readyforperfect: i do love his car seat
gamercat88: one rubs the dog or gets the house...
Nigouki: yeeeeeeessssss
ButButTheJesus: omg we are the dog
InquisitorGaia: dog opens doors
TheMerricat: toby.....
How_Do_I_Shoot: how
Nigouki: WE CAN OPEN DOORS!?
TheTekkieman: Psychic dog!
siltyroach: Much effort was put into those animations
DaxStrife: I've seen dogs open doors with their heads before, but not like that.
The_Voices: welp
ButButTheJesus: lrrFINE
TheMerricat: Toby is a monster......
SplittingImage77: Reminds me of the opening sequence of Downton Abbey with the doggos bum showing
siltyroach: LUL
wildpeaks: don't even worry about it :D
ButButTheJesus: we're not tripping over our ears nearly enough
AWildTransgirlAppeared: Ghost dog ghost dog
How_Do_I_Shoot: my experiance of bassets is that they usually stop for a biscuit right about now
Xilats: Toby: Psychic Investigator.
wildpeaks: doggo > gravity
TehAmelie: well, look at that tail going at least
Silver_Kn1ght: we haven't tripped over our ears once, immersion broken
SerGarretCameron: I've seem them go full penguin before, but that was mostly on really soft carpet.
RandomTrivia: That sounds like the best job
SplittingImage77: Tactile stimulation
ButButTheJesus: holy heck
gamercat88: yes @TheMerricat exactly that
TheMerricat: look chat, red herring house had a purpose!
Mysticman89: itt might be problematic if you're not quick enough
TheSinisterCheese: The wonders of breeding dogs... Could we stop making the even more sick?
ArkhamArchivist: How many breeds of dogs have humans over-engineered to the point of uselessness?
RandomTrivia: *B O R K*
Silver_Kn1ght: ArkhamArchivist too many
Nigouki: now I kinda want to watch some Mamoru Oshii movies cuz they always have a basset hound in them
TehAmelie: it depends. no dogs fill any function to the biosphere
siltyroach: B O R K
Angnor33: Ah, genetic engineering.
readyforperfect: we made the wolf friend shaped
TheBehemothBarn: Yeah a supper sniffer
TheSinisterCheese: @ArkhamArchivist Other than working breeds which are still used for work, all of them. Look at old working dog breeds from 100 years ago, they were way healthier and good looking.
wildpeaks: because they wanted scritches behind the ears
Juliamon: It turns out Moon Moon was onto something
Zhedor: It's nothing compared to what we did to ourselves. And we were also apex predators ;)
TheBehemothBarn: super*
The_Voices: dont forget the tiny demons called pugs and chiwowoas(sorry, cant spell it)
siltyroach: Dont you find the way it can barely breathe cute tho?
Lithobraker: Normally the mother has to lick the puppies to stimulate breathing after birth
Xilats: @Zhedor I am still an apex predator! I can do a triple centurion of nuggies.
Lithobraker: In wolves
InquisitorGaia: what is this a mineshaft in the middle of a city?
How_Do_I_Shoot: he seems a cabable dog
Nigouki: time for drums in the deep?
siltyroach: He'll use his ancestors wisdom
RandomTrivia: @InquisitorGaia Clearly it's a half-arsed basement extension
Alahmnat: depends on the accent
TheSinisterCheese: @siltyroach A mate of mine has a pug, according to them it is the most adorable thing when it sniffles, snores, and is constantly out of breath. And how it is cute how it sleep in strange position so it can breathe.
AWildTransgirlAppeared: We're suddenly in a Skyrim dungeon
ButButTheJesus: stowage is what bwings us here togethah, today
TheMerricat: So chat, I recently learned that apparently all the dogs in the world are from one small family of domesticated wolves as opposed to many separate lines of wolves being domesticated in different areas.
GlennSeto: Oh, isn't this where the Amnesia monster shows up?
RandomTrivia: @ButButTheJesus A+ reference there, well played.
Xilats: What a helpful lock latch!
Lithobraker: @TheMerricat let me guess, you read arstechnica
siltyroach: @TheSinisterCheese Oh god. I was being sarcastic that is sad.
TheMerricat: @Lithobraker ^_^
Applecrisp: cam's new glasses look nice
How_Do_I_Shoot: thew worlds easiest lock
HungryCavalier: Well, that was challenging
RandomTrivia: Gameplay!
Mysticman89: master lockpick
Xilats: Now, if we had brought Toby, we wouldn't have needed to use the picklocks.
InquisitorGaia: that was the most remarkable lock, and nothing like how lockpicking works at all
Alahmnat: the outer shadow on the handwriting is *killing* me
wildpeaks: Toby moonlights as a master thief
wildpeaks: nobody suspect the daborable doggo
siltyroach: Has there ever been a good lockpicking minigame? that represents atually pins and all
Pal_Friendpatine: I love that this game, deducing, mystery, intelligence, is making for a very quizzical looking Cam. It seems not only does he have to figure out the mystery but also has to figure out the game.
TheMerricat: I like that the lock was a true ward lock vs a tumbler lock
TehAmelie: i think it was around New England they've found a new species of mixed coyote, dog and wolf. seems benign, though the concept sounds pretty Frankenstein
TheSinisterCheese: @siltyroach That is a fact of life to many pugs. Hell some of them undergo surgeries to make them breathe better. The dogs like bassets with lots of excess skin often get infections unless the are constantly cleaned well. It is SO sad what we do to dogs. And I honestly with my government, and every government, would take actions and ban those breeding guidelines and descriptions.,
RandomTrivia: Oh great, now we have to tell the kid his dad is dead
InkyGhoast: we have a brain connect
Lithobraker: @siltyroach I've been waiting for a new lockpick mini game that uses the improved haptic feedback of modern controllers
siltyroach: @TheSinisterCheese I guess banning breeding is all we could do for them wich is incredibly sad indeed
Critterbot: Cartridges.
siltyroach: a whole rifle
ulexarX: Imagination: Activated
TheSinisterCheese: @siltyroach my government, in Finland, has actually had some attempts at this. But there isn't enough political will and the breeders put up a massive fight. Hell... Add a massive tax to breed dogs that aren't used as working dogs or something if you can't outright ban it.
gamercat88: is this our mind palace?
Robot_Bones: At last, a mind palace view
siltyroach: Its a bit under furnished
Robot_Bones: Same Hat
HouseThomas: I loved this game! I’m glad you are playing!! ❤️
SquareDotCube: Special job and paupers list?
TheElrad: try the rest of the clues?
ContingentCat: whoops romance isn't great
Lord_ZYRK: "I was trying to call you an idiot, but I guess now I want to smooch???"
Involume: "Oops, I'm dating a space racist"
TheSinisterCheese: What you don't think the "What do you mean?" isn't a clear enough of a clue that if you choose it you end up throwing a cream pie on the talkers face?
Lord_ZYRK: seabatBRAIN
Sky_Kast: hiya
Sky_Kast: well rip perfect timing Kappa
Involume: You CAN be wrong about your final deduction, which is cool
Gadora: I quit Mass Effect because I was trying to do an RP run. Right after the first reaper encounter, there was a point where I tried to say "I stand by my report" as a polite way to address a superior who expressed doubt. Instead it was more "Are you calling me a liar?"
Involume: RP run?
Gadora: Roleplaying.
Blue_Anteater: @Gadora I just finished the first one, and while I liked the game overall, I did hate that mechanic
Involume: Ah
Juliamon: Making choices that align with how you've been playing the character
Gadora: Had a pre-existing character I was trying to bring in to adapt.
Involume: Gotchya
wynternyghtynggale: hi everyone
Revelia: Problem with RP mass effect is you're playing Shepard, who has a character, that you are choosing which flavor of Shepard's existing character you prefer
quasi79fu: aww man I missed stream
readyforperfect: naw we're just on break
RandomTrivia: Only on break. Weren't you here earlier quasi79fu?
Involume: So what was the decision to play this game? Did I miss something at the start?
corianderd: I suggested it at the end of last stream and Cameron agreed to play it :D
quasi79fu: I had to deal with a new player and setting them up for my rolepplaying campaign on saturdays
corianderd: for my amusement
Involume: Noice
quasi79fu: I might have missed some things
Involume: I'm actually a bit of a fan of the series
Blue_Anteater: @Revelia And that's fair, but there's a moment where you're talking to Joker, and the message is like, Where did you get your training?, but what Shepard SAYS is, Are you sure you're capable of flying this ship? So, it's a little misleading
TehAmelie: you have to rewrite some stuff in your head to make it fit with the character you want to play
TehAmelie: at least i did
pletcho: is it kosher to swear in this channel
quasi79fu: Burglars!!!!!
estrogently: lets blur gary
gamercat88: but toby
Blue_Anteater: @TehAmelie Yeah, I'll probably be doing that as I go into the second game XD
wynternyghtynggale: burgler boys!
Revelia: @Blue_Anteater yeah that's definitely a problem. Fallout 4 had a similar problem
RandomTrivia: That was a very Martin Freeman Watson reaction
quasi79fu: Im sorry...But is no one going to notice a grown man sneaking around a house?
Alahmnat: they did a good job with Watson's "I'm so sick of your shit, Holmes" response
Involume: Sneaky vicar!
PixelArtDragon: "We made a cool place to sneak around, so you're going to have to sneak around it at LEAST twice"
quasi79fu: Omg what
itira: LOL

Laserbeaks_Fury: It's only a federal crime if you read it *before* it's recieved. After that it's just snooping
gualdhar: this is definitely not American Healthcare
RandomTrivia: Engage stealth mode!
Ferisar: that's such a gentle end-screen
Ferisar: "oh but why on earth are you here?"
quasi79fu: How is that a hiding spot
Nigouki: I wish we had Ophelia's stealth
RandomTrivia: Should have studied Ophelia more closely
quasi79fu: tick tick tick
ContingentCat: jlrrTick
quasi79fu: Ive got Ticks!!!!! SOrry Bad Joke
Despoiler98: I like that mechanic actually
Robot_Bones: snape snape severus snape

Gadora: I appreciate they gave visual feedback, not just auditory.
RandomTrivia: @Robot_Bones That is an old but excellent reference.
wynternyghtynggale: oh they gave us a map how nice!
TheWooglie: You might get this a lot, but Heat Death was great lrrHEART lrrAWESOME

RandomTrivia: G A M E P L A Y
Alahmnat: poit
quasi79fu: Its a fuzzy snow field
Alahmnat: I thought we left the hidden object games behind
Revelia: when we say "gameplay" like that do we mean to say that it's contrived, forced, or otherwise "bad" gameplay?
quasi79fu: Isnt Tuberclosis like contagious?
Nigouki: ah yes, the cure-all sanatoriums of the time
margieargie: He'll probably die if he -is- transferred to a sanatorium anyway, but...
josh___something: Why does watson look like a hipster?
InkyGhoast: is the commitment with a quarantine
Alahmnat: we do?
KV1NN4: or: Why do hipsters look like Watson?
readyforperfect: it's going dracula is my new answer to how things are going
Zaraka00: its going totally dracula BD
quasi79fu: uhhh the daughter scares me....Shes into Dracula...Next thing you know she will find out about Twilight Series
Alahmnat: why is the game in 1st person now?
TehAmelie: tuberculosis, or tuber-oculosis, an affliction caused by eating raw potato eyes
TehAmelie: either peel or cook your potatoes, people
RandomTrivia: https://clips.twitch.tv/BrainySlickSheepChefFrank I would apologise but I feel it's important to recognise a Watch&Play moment when it happens
quasi79fu: Witchcraffft
wynternyghtynggale: itsnt it so nice it was on the first page
quasi79fu: Oh noooo death
wynternyghtynggale: send him to the sanatorium and you wont have to see him die, he just dies off screen!
RandomTrivia: Gary Youngman?
InkyGhoast: ooh we should bring toby
TehAmelie: and it probably features an accidentally authentic wedding scene
RandomTrivia: You don't need to do any more, we know what you're getting at
PhoenixShaman: map in the secret bunker?
SquareDotCube: "Dear diary, today I discovered I want to be a goth girl"
Alahmnat: no really, it's bugging me that the game is suddenly in 1st person now
TehAmelie: the already poor character animation b budget must have run out
BusTed: Not creepy at all.

gualdhar: why does Sherlock look like Jon Hamm?

InkyGhoast: what if we hit the big search the map button on the top of the thing
Involume: It's next to the door
InkyGhoast: why doesn't game just teleport us ugh
margieargie: There is, of course, no other map of Epping Forest in the entire country.
SquareDotCube: duduce so you can get there?
Simonark: John Hamm, Boy Detective
TehAmelie: i think cab rides are actually the loading screens
x0den: im assuming you've tried clicking on the words "search the map" on that menu?
RandomTrivia: Cab rides are absolutely concealing loading screens
Simonark: @TehAmelie I'd feel confident betting money on that.
TehAmelie: options menu said something about it
SquareDotCube: Where's the epping forest?
readyforperfect: i especially don't mind the cab rides when toby comes along in his lil car seat
RandomTrivia: @SquareDotCube North-East of London. Today it's within the boundaries of Greater London

DeM0nFiRe: Sir Pentine
Kiwijelly: Aw, from the title I was hoping for a janky hidden object game
TheBehemothBarn: Adrenaline is one hell of a drug
RandomTrivia: As I said right at the beginning, surely the Predestination Paradox means that none of our decisions really mattered?
Juliamon: Kiwijelly Sometimes it is
TehAmelie: i'll buy that Holmes just has a keen sense of where he's aiming
RandomTrivia: The beam does seem to track the area around his heart
Alahmnat: of all the weirdly modern things in this game, I'm actually okay with the game giving you an affordance for when/where they're aiming at you
Despoiler98: Ya know those Victorian laser sights
Mister_BlueSky: Hold out for those Epic bushes, dog.
readyforperfect: so they're doing their most dangerous game straight up in the middle of london?
Nigouki: can we put on the other body's skin like a disguise?
RandomTrivia: This is not the middle of London. This is Epping Forest, comfortably away from anyone who might overhear
DeM0nFiRe: Run Holmes, Run Home
readyforperfect: thanks @RandomTrivia
Kiwijelly: Because I have information to share on that subject, whereas janky 3d murder mystery shooters are outside my sphere of knowledge

Simonark: Yeah, Epping Forest is huge and very old growth.
Alahmnat: why anything this game has done, @Kiwijelly
Ferisar: the smell of the swamp will protect you
InkyGhoast: i think the logic is also that the swamp will cover our smell from the dogs
quasi79fu: LOL smell of the swamp....Donkey get outta ma swamp
TehAmelie: you're a big stone, that means you have big cover
Alahmnat: it's to hide your scent from the dogs

CaptainSpam: Hey, wait, we can replay the ending.
Armyguy0: Them 76% people
LightingExpert13: totally seems like an adam game
TehAmelie: i have some thoughts about assisted suicide but that was probably the best we could do
MyClosePersonalFriendJohn: You need 50 probably
RuiFaleiro: 19/25 people
wynternyghtynggale: 4 people and an ant
Kiwijelly: there is a fan following for janky holmes games
BlueMagnusStormCrow: 4 people and a rounding error.

SquareDotCube: I *know* they exist.
BlueMagnusStormCrow: The running away from the shooter bit looked very unfun.
ieva_art: yeah subscription sound is v loud...
Revelia: there was a skip option for that part
wynternyghtynggale: the animation on the fleeing actually made me feel ill
jessieimproved: I'm late on the math, but I think you need at least 50 total people to have 76% of anything
ieva_art: just make it a visual novel lol
RaemonDamon: If you have a skip option for your puzzle minigame, I personally feel like it might not be a good minigame
x0den: i think they need to be more visual novel and less point and click
Kiwijelly: hidden object games
Zaraka00: wait did I get up and miss the part that bridges from arriving at epping forest to being chased?
Alahmnat: yeah, Holmes being super-duper smart makes it *really* hard for the "everyday person" to step into his role with any degree of competence.
Enmity777: I partially agree, but this game is also the worst of the series imo.
TehAmelie: a game where you have to become interesting enough to summon Sherlock Holmes to help you
x0den: I like the sherlock holms consulting detective games where you play as wiggins and compare yourself to holmes rather than just being holmes
RandomTrivia: Dog section best section
TehAmelie: like the One Punch Man game but sillier
MyClosePersonalFriendJohn: They could pause and have you research "knowledge" in a mini-game... equivalent to him doing "lookup/indexing" in his head. :) It would suck,.
Ferisar: to be fair to holmes his omniscience has been slowly increased over the character's lifespan and passing hands
Alahmnat: @MyClosePersonalFriendJohn sounds like Carmen Sandiego games when they came with a legit almanac to cross-reference against.
Ferisar: he used to be just a very smart dude who liked cocaine
MyClosePersonalFriendJohn: @Alahmnat Ya... only this would be basically wikipedia lookups. :D
TehAmelie: he doesn't know everything, just everything relevant to his cases. . .
Kiwijelly: speaking of hidden object games, have you guys played the first Cadenza game?
TehAmelie: hey, i like this Neil Gaiman story
Kiwijelly: stabbed
RandomTrivia: We let the vigilante do his thing
Kiwijelly: eh
Kiwijelly: it was the best option we were given

Kiwijelly: I mean, you could do Ace Attorney style, where the cases are so silly only you can solve them
TehAmelie: i'd like a game where you are not any kind of detective but you're forced into a ridiculously unsolvable mystery on the level of the opening scene in the Dirk Gently show, and the game is about getting the attention of Sherlock Holmes so he can figure it out for you
Kiwijelly: oh, I have a pitch
Kiwijelly: Sherlock Holmes is supposed to solve a mystery but breaks his leg, so you have to do all the clue finding and pitch him your solutions
TehAmelie: heh
Kiwijelly: for the last arc you figure out that the baddies are planning to kidnap/target him and have to follow clues he left to find him
Kiwijelly: using the skills you've built
Blue_Anteater: Honestly, that's kind of a combination of multiple Sherlock stories, which I think actually works
Blue_Anteater: I'd play!
Kiwijelly: we'll call it...
Kiwijelly: Sherlock Holmes and the Art of Delegation
TehAmelie: Stephen King did that sort of, in a story where Holmes gets disabled due to his canonical severe cat allergy and Watson solves the case
Blue_Anteater: @Kiwijelly katesNice
Kiwijelly: honestly, it would have to be on scene or the solution would just be 'call mycroft'
TehAmelie: but at what cost?
Blue_Anteater: Would you play as Watson or a new character?
Kiwijelly: actually, this should just be a Nero Wolfe game
Kiwijelly: because that is the plot of every Nero Wolfe story
Kiwijelly: except replace 'broken leg' with 'can't be bothered'
Kiwijelly: i listen to a lot of Old Time Radio
Blue_Anteater: Have you ever heard of a podcast called the Thrilling Adventure Hour?
Kiwijelly: I believe so
Blue_Anteater: It's a narrative podcast done in the style of Old Time Radio
Blue_Anteater: It was performed live on stage for about a decade, and they turned each segment into podcast episodes. There was space Western, supernatural mystery, etc. It's fun!
Juliamon: is most of it still locked behind Patreon though?
Juliamon: I remember they basically cleared the feed after the live shows ended
Blue_Anteater: Oh yeah, it might be...
killerpommes: maybe one of those games where you are a newbie and Holmes is your mentor. And sometimes he helps you out with investigating your clues
Blue_Anteater: I think the feed still has a few up, like the favorites are whatever
Blue_Anteater: *or
Juliamon: I've not kept up with them, since the Treasury feeds kept changing on me
