TehAmelie: remember that time Shia LaBeouf made and released a movie before remembering it was based on a comic book, and then plagiarized his apology as well? this isn't quite like that i guess. . .
Bellpei: I think this may actually qualify as dramatic irony. In a technical sense.
ContingentCat: informed positions? In this economy?
TheMerricat: So in contrast, Frogwares has sued the two previous distributors of their games for almost the same issues
Sethalidos: the Beef is either the worst copycat or deliberately trolling the copyright industry

ContingentCat: how many involve fire?
LurkerSpine: This reminds me of Nintendo uploading other peoples rips of Roms on the Wii Shop
bowseriffic: Legal dynamics
GapFiller: thats the exact opposite of legalese
jonnykefka: fun fact, the US Supreme Court once called a solicitor to make oral arguments just to explain why he should not be held in contempt for an utterly incomprehensible firing.
TehAmelie: it would be interesting if they had to write it with the thousand most common words in English
CaptainSpam: Legalese exists for a *reason*.
bowseriffic: Splitting very fine hairs
Wicker_Guide: Oh god :(
bowseriffic: Perfect
TheMerricat: So _that_ part, the uploading the game to Steam is not actually the lawsuit, there will probably _BE_ a lawsuit over that. But the lawsuit was that Nacon wasn't playing Frogwares for meeting milestones in making The Sinking City and were consistantly late on paying their dues for sales made on TSC and Sherlock Holmes Devils Daughter.
bowseriffic: gotta go lol

LordZarano: Hacking in the classical sense
CAKHost: Right them using hash tables instead of an arraylist.
aerobeing: I was waiting for the point in the GTA news piece, where you would get to "they the game work better and Rockstar is suing them for it" or "and got issued a <cease and desist notice>".
aerobeing: *they made the game
Akaiatana: Grand Theft Time
CAKHost: I heard that hash tables could be more effective but you also need to know how to use them :C
beowuuf: lol
bowseriffic: haha
rustenskurk: the 90's were also "only" 22 years ago
ContingentCat: but that has a fun name
CAKHost: I'm more familiar with lists objects in code, tbh
EvilBadman: Another weird thing to this is Red Dead Online loads faster than Grand Theft Online, so it seems they knew about this issue and fixed it for RDO before launch.
aerobeing: @EvilBadman Wow. That's unexpected. How much faster?
CAKHost: D8
EvilBadman: RDO loads about as fast as the patched GTAO this dude did
aerobeing: huh
bowseriffic: crazy inefficient
Wicker_Guide: Like the code that you described reminds me of an early work project I did that my trainer told me was unusable trash
CaptainSpam: I recall doing something similar in my old job when we discovered someone wrote a horrendously inefficient XML parser.
ashteranic: which it probably did when GTA online shipped (and it shipped very, VERY hot, so it probably got slammed in and barely tested)
aerobeing: @EvilBadman Does RDO have any "world best" rankings in some sort of contests?
Oghara: !schedule
LRRbot: Want to know what's coming up? Check out for an interactive schedule, or for a Google Calendar version.
TheMerricat: Remember that for a while Rockstar _really_ didn't want to do multiplayer for GTA, which is ironic today. It's also possible that they gave the job to the intern and said "figure it out, we don't give a hoot".
EvilBadman: aerobeing Not really, iirc
bowseriffic: @themerricat ah, thank you
GerrardUK: Prototyping I guess?
UraharaSci: It could even be that the more efficient way now was slower back then
Wicker_Guide: yeah Beej's description has big "made by someone used to school projects" energy
EvilBadman: TheMerricat Associating unwanted projects or mistakes with "the intern" is a really bad and demeaning practice.
Oghara: Beej your hairstyle is about the same as mine *thumbsup*
TehAmelie: if the thing has 10 megabytes of code, i guess that's ten million characters that each get cross-checked with each other
ashteranic: Or something with a test store rather than the entire production marketplace.
bowseriffic: many redundancies left in the code
TheMerricat: @EvilBadman The hospital I used to work for had a volunteer department, while most of them worked as candystrippers and whatnot, there were a large number of them that got slotted into backend positions, want to guess the nature of the jobs they got?
LordZarano: If you think you might kinda understand it I'd recommend reading their post, it's _very_ good.
TheMerricat: @EvilBadman or the respect they received for it?
Twilight_Spark: It's easy to make these kinds of subtle mistakes under time pressure.
PharaohBender27: @TheMerricat So the hospital got what it paid for?
EvilBadman: @TheMerricat Ah yes, game companies have volunteer interns.
badpandabear: crunch often leaves this sort stuff around in a code base
TheMerricat: @PharaohBender27 yep.
GerrardUK: I guess there's probably at least 4 times more items in the game now then when it launched.
bowseriffic: hehehe
TheMerricat: @PharaohBender27 the irony is the volunteers were super professional and did an awesome job, especially since the jobs they did were the shit no one wanted to do. So the hospital got a lot more than they paid for.
bytecaster: Having stuff be accidently quadratic happens a lot, because it gives reasonable performance for all test data, but then can crash and burn in production.
PolarPayne: what about bogosort
bytecaster: It is kind of in a sweet spot that way.
PixelArtDragon: They wrote code that would have been fine for a smaller list, it could be they were never told it would have several thousand items
TheMerricat: @EvilBadman

Tehbeard: *shrug* Is it worth it to R* going through certification on a code update for this?
PolarPayne: this is an organizational problem
PolarPayne: not code
LordZarano: From the end of the thing: "A few people suggested spamming this post to Rockstar’s support - please don’t! I’m sure they’ve seen this by now."
Tehbeard: I'd like it fixed, but R* ain't known for fixing bugs in a timely fashion.
aerobeing: I doubt it. They still haven't done anything about the "world record" statistics that are always at or near 0 due to people using scripts. Don't think they'll do anything with this. Except for maybe a "stop messing with our code" notice.
bowseriffic: New dlc maybe?
EvilBadman: GTAO's still getting regular updates, so it's entirely possible
PolarPayne: code always looks like the organization
Henshini: The reason for it is probably crunch
LurkerSpine: As a software dev, my guess is the team probably didn't plan on GTA Online running forever?
bytecaster: Arguably, if you can fix it with code injection, it should be easier to fix if you have access to the code. But I guess, yeah, there could be a reason complicating things.
CaptainSpam: BEEF
fubargames: Nihilist Arby's or the other one?

YesAdamYes: Americas Roast Beef Yes Sir!
Wicker_Guide: lrrSPOOP

DoodlestheGreat: Well, Shov's extra beefy.
CaptainSpam: I really don't get the knee-jerk hate for Arby's. They serve roast beef sandwiches. So scary?
fubargames: Feels like this sort of coverage is what Showel Knight was going for too
bytecaster: @aerobeing I have heard that argument, and I'm still in two mind about this. Stuff like this happens alllll the time in other software, but yeah, could just be an exec saying, well it's not a bug, it's a feature. Even though it is such a bad experience, which likely also leads to loss of sales.
bowseriffic: A lot of people are skeptical of their meat sources, I think
electra310: People worry about the floating lights above the Arby's.
DoodlestheGreat: They're.... not very good. I've tried and re-tried them over the years.
jonnykefka: Burning Chrome
TheMerricat: I'm just in awe that someone thought that there was overlap between Shovel Knight fans and Arby fans.
Wicker_Guide: they have made like 4 shovel knight games
CaptainSpam: Arby's definitely isn't my *favorite* place, nor is it even *one of* my favorites. It's just... all right. Complete with fully-articulated shrug.
bowseriffic: Ya wtf lol
Juliamon: The only Arby's around here is wildly inconvenient so I've only ever been there once.
EvilBadman: Yacht Blub just published the very good Cyber Shadow also
EvilBadman: club*

Foxmar320: Arby's is fine, just fine
jonnykefka: Cyber Shadow is very good if you're into Ninja Gaiden
TheMerricat: @fubargames in general the folk that I know that don't like Arby's complain that the stores are never clean.
aerobeing: @bytecaster I can imagine that scene of someone coming to a higher-up with "hey, our game takes a bunch of time to load" "great! Put more enticing pictures in there, so people buy more stuff!"
DoodlestheGreat: My local Arby's has been around since I was a child. SOMEBODY must eat the things.
GamesAndInk: Arby's is the only place in my town that is enforcing wearing masks, and serves perfectly fine food for a reasonable price. Honestly that makes it A+ in my book.

fubargames: But they're not on the shitposting meme level of Denny's, right? (Saying this from Sweden where we don't have Arby's *or* Denny's)
Loonatic93: Maybe I'm weird. But I really love Arby's. It's probably my favorite of that tier of Fast Food. (That being the tier right below 5 Guys.)
Juliamon: I demand Rottytops toys with removable limbs
DoodlestheGreat: @gamesandink, yes, that does deserve a level of loyalty.
Featherweight_: Arby's is one of those places the varies widely between locations so you get alot of "Its fine" vs. "no it's NOT"
aerobeing: @Loonatic93 You might also have an Arbys that does a better job than some other's of making their stuff.
Mai_Andra: I really like Arby's basic roast beef and sauces. I don't like when they start slathering "cheese" substances over things. I haven't tried the brisket.
xantos69: Their sandwiches are in the "fine to good" range....but their curly fries? If the apocalypse happens and I could only save 3 technologies I would pick air conditioning, antibiotics, and arby's fries.
DeM0nFiRe: LUL

Mai_Andra: "as a controller"
DoodlestheGreat: @fubargames, while Denny's rep is not the best, they DO serve great breakfasts.

couldntpickausername: what if we flavor the banana like switch cartridges
TheMerricat: I just like the fat that this and the "McDonalds" patent were both from Sony, as if they have a division that's especially made just to try to patent Nintendo level weird shit but dialed to 11
aerobeing: LUL
DoodlestheGreat: It's an ap-peel-ing concept.
Bellpei: IRL I'm holding an airsoft gun to control a FPS where my gun is a banna.
beowuuf: Bjog sounds like a viking npc
CAKHost: If you can still play the game with the peel, I'm okay with eating the controller
beowuuf: in some vikings in space rpg
aerobeing: @TStodden heh
couldntpickausername: @PharaohBender27 comic sans gif? don't worry
LordZarano: Like an automatic handicap system then?
Wicker_Guide: "We can't have this good thing, because we have this bad thing that already exists that we want for other reasons. Why did we do this to ourselves" :(
bowseriffic: Kind of... hilarious
goldreaver: That would just make it a 'pay to pay' system NotLikeThis
DeM0nFiRe: I feel like that is kind of wholesome in a weird way? Literally just having a conversation to solve the disagreement out of court

m_logan2000: random enemies are higher level as the game progresses
bullseye3265: cheer500
ContingentCat: @fubargames a broken clock is right twice a day
UraharaSci: Mario kart
goldreaver: Even RE games have difficulty adjustment systems, but those mostly make the game easier if you die too much
Wicker_Guide: maybe a game where the microtransactions are fully cosmetic
fubargames: But also, it's in EA's interest to have pay to win games let you pay to win, right?
Coyoteofthenine: Shamrock100
bowseriffic: I remember the days when you only had to buy the game to beat your friends lol
goldreaver: The Resident Evil 3 remake run includes shooting at the floor on certain moments to make the game easier
SydPreviouslyHeadache: right this was cool
DeM0nFiRe: wat

fubargames: So start up Zelda to get to the exploits for another game?
SydPreviouslyHeadache: involves the memory pack iirc
SydPreviouslyHeadache: well i'll just let Paul talk actually
jonnykefka: what is stored on the N64 console itself?
ContingentCat: wow
mowdownjoe: Ahh, the basis of Stop n Swop
bowseriffic: No dump? Huh
Foxmar320: N64 does strange stuff when you hot swap
couldntpickausername: how do you discover this?
NatShido: Okay, is this not hardware manipulation though?
goldreaver: how the fuck do you even discover that
Wicker_Guide: waiii
ForOhForError: There's a similar thing for pokemon gen 1 to beat wario land
bowseriffic: I’m freaking out rn
fubargames: I really really hope the time spent in UoT is counted for the rules for that speedrun?
fubargames: *OoT
jonnykefka: I see how you get there. You figure out the issue with the memory clearing, then you look for the most broken game you can get your hands on to tweak the memory
ForOhForError: It's not a *valid* speedrun really
couldntpickausername: tool assisted
couldntpickausername: the tool being another game cartridge
goldreaver: when your code is so broken that it breaks other programs
ForOhForError: for anything tracked against the legit way
GapFiller: the game IS ~20 yrs old
MolaMolaphant: if they make a category for it, it'd be a valid category. Community consensus is the only rule here.

DeM0nFiRe: Perfectly Ordinary Paper Mario
bowseriffic: wow
RockPusher: I just love the concept of speedrun indirect programming
ThorSokar: That will 100% end up being another catagory
Wicker_Guide: I think it'd count as a "tool assisted speedrun"
goldreaver: if I make a OOT WR when running paper mario, does that count? LUL
UraharaSci: You still play more as link than Mario
Blade_Tiger: I can't wait to see Paper Mario: OoT% at the next GDQ
TemporallyAwry: Not sure what to call that category, but it sure needs it's own category.
LurkerSpine: I know it's the jargon, but I hate the term "broken" as it is applied to these things
goldreaver: To be fair, if they do exploit it, they will just run the old version and make a separate category for the new patch, like what happened to bloodborne
Decaped: it's just a TAS, in this case, the tool is a cart of Ocarina of TIme
UraharaSci: Paper Mario: any Zelda %
ForOhForError: Paper Mario isn't far off having (useful) ACE by itself, the OoT setup just puts it in a state where it can work (iirc)
Akaiatana: "Your lower third is wrong."
fubargames: I found the speedrun on youtube, "Paper Mario Any% Speedrun with Arbitrary Code Execution in 54:22, assisted by Ocarina of Time"
TehAmelie: hmm would it work on an emulator?
bullseye3265: beej and cori in the same room. mind blown
DeM0nFiRe: GDQ will sometimes allow very risky categories where if you mess up the run is just over. Super Metroid being a notable example
goldreaver: I mean, we all tune in to GDQ to have fun, I don't expect WRs there
NatShido: SMB3 Hands.
EvilBadman: It'd be more likey a GDQ segment if the estimate was low, but if the set-up is 50min and can fail, I don't think they'd do it.
goldreaver: If they have to restart, they do it
fubargames: Then we're talking *really* tool assisted run
ThorSokar: See: Crash Bandicoot 1 (Deathless) runs, when they hit the bridge levels (20 and 40min in)
ender4449: @tehamelie I wouldn’t think so? This seems to be a hardware specific thing so emulation would actually prevent that.
bowseriffic: So eBay, Beej?
TristalMTG: It would be difficult NOT to do it in an emulator, unless they specifically wipe the RAM.
ZealousCrow: I believe some emulators can do it
TheMerricat: @LoadingReadyRun So I don't know about video game consoles emulators but the old Atari ST emulator that I used to use actually had a hot swap bug where if you swapped out a disk image without resetting, it'd have issues
Mister_Hush: Typically, speedruns aren't allowed onto the leaderboards if they're done on emulators instead of actual hardware, except TAS runs (for obvious reasons)
PharaohBender27: Oh right, that's a thing
RockPusher: Apple vs Epic featuring special guest, Valve
PharaohBender27: So this trial will begin on my father's 79th birthday :p
DeM0nFiRe: Mister_Hush It's actually decided per game, there are some games that it is allowed. I think Super Mario Bros is an example of that, where some people even play with a keyboard on PC and it's the same leaderboard
Crokoking: just set up in a theater like Dice Friends ^^
UraharaSci: No cat lawyers or witnesses in surgery then
ender4449: Oh, learn something new, I would have expected it to not work that way. I guess the emulator would be built to a specific set up. Now I want to look that up and how emulators actually work
m_logan2000: @UraharaSci was just gonna say that
ForOhForError: Oh yes
ForOhForError: The Dimengeon
DoodlestheGreat: CA is not as likely to lockdown statewide again, as we have a government that actually is getting their population vaccinated. ConcernDoge
fubargames: What, UraharaSci? More (I'm not a) cat lawyers currently performing surgery is clearly needed!
Rafzalo: Oh, I heard of this one
aerobeing: PridePog
Orgmastron: Woah
Dix: Now that sounds cool
BusTed: That game was wild.
ForOhForError: It's wilder than that: the models are dioramas, 3d scanned in, with a tilt shift shader applied
FITorion: I missed the name
Foxmar320: Neverhood was sweet
GapFiller: inc dioramas which look neat
bowseriffic: I loved those
BusTed: seabatBRAIN
DeM0nFiRe: Huh sounds interesting

SquareDotCube: It's an Apple Arcade exclusive...

PharaohBender27: O_o
TheMerricat: Good luck streaming htat.
niccus: eh, magic had younger
TemporallyAwry: Aren't there child-labor-laws for things like this? Is it even allowed?
ContingentCat: I do, I feel old
Foxmar320: Clearly I need to play Fortnight
GapFiller: No Just No
fubargames: Hopefully their parents were the ones signing anything?
bowseriffic: Same, Beej
aerobeing: @TemporallyAwry He's playing video games. Are there child video game laws?
EvilBadman: @TemporallyAwry Child celebrities exist so Shrug?
TheMerricat: @TemporallyAwry yes there are and yes it is. See Child Stars in Holywood
Wicker_Guide: child labor laws both exist and apply to child celebrities
TehAmelie: seems more like showbusiness to me. and you know how great child stars tend to be treated (not)
Wicker_Guide: child labor is not "child labor is outlawed" it's "child labor is restricted"
GapFiller: doesnt matter how good at the game they are theyre too young to be playing competitively imo
xantos69: That is literally just "the last starfighter".
bowseriffic: It is lol
TheMerricat: @xantos69 except that the enemy is Apple trying to stop Epic from making more on microtransactions
jessieimproved: As a parent of two, this is seriously dependent on the child
fubargames: It's on the level of "My kid's getting sponsorship to develop their hockey skills" (or whatever)
aerobeing: And a limit of work time.
aerobeing: etc
ForOhForError: A lot of the time it's possible for young pro players to get out of bad contracts, too
RockPusher: hehehe
xantos69: @TheMerricat Somebody get this screenplay written! I want a treatment by Monday!
MolaMolaphant: Yeah! the kiddos can play with knives on their own time!
aerobeing: And "parents must be present" in certain cases.
SurfDownstage: I mean in a lot of countries child wages are way below minimum wage (e.g. the UK)
aerobeing: Or guardians.
bowseriffic: But cos can still manipulate them, just like the rest of us
atlr: its kind of like child actors
TheMerricat: Beej speaking the truth
PharaohBender27: And it limits their hours - producers actually like using identical twins as a way to be able to get more production done without breaking child labor laws
Wicker_Guide: I mean, that's something a parent might want to teach you
fubargames: But are tournaments typically held in daytimes and so on? Because child labour laws will typically care about *what* hours of the day the job is, and how long those hours are.
Snowcookies: lol
PharaohBender27: lrrWOW
RockPusher: [Paul will remember this] lrrBEEJ
bowseriffic: gyah

Lord_Hosk: My brother got a paper route, somehow it became "our" paper route, and then he quit and it was My paper route that I was not able to quit for 2 years of me saying "WHEN CAN I STOP THIS?"
SurfDownstage: Future employer: "Why did they fire you?" Me: "Because I tried to quit"
Loonatic93: Basically it's folks in power saying that you should stay in any relationship, no matter how toxic it is or how uncomfortable it makes you.
Oghara: I mean you can't just quit every job whenever
bowseriffic: Pfffft
fubargames: Yeah, this is where e-sports is really ike a sport.
Lord_Hosk: My brother did the paper route by himself for 2 months, we did it together for 9 months
UraharaSci: That’s a massive gamble then for the pro team. Hiring a child who can’t play for 8 years?
m_logan2000: my thoughts Paul
Wicker_Guide: they probably are aiming for streaming rights for hte interim
LurkerSpine: Probably also advertising
Wicker_Guide: LoL has been around for nearly that long
bowseriffic: If they can drag updates and releases out long enough
fubargames: It might also be good(?) PR for Fortnight to get kids to care about Fortnight, but yeah, the team doesn't really win from that?
Loonatic93: Games like Starcraft and Smash Bros. have had competitive scenes for decades.
UraharaSci: Or the kid could not be as good as another kid in 5 years
Wicker_Guide: yep
Wicker_Guide: "here's a dancing bear"
bowseriffic: Oh, brands lol
Lord_Hosk: Fortnite is already a very different game than it was 2 years ago. Sure you still drop and there is still a final zone. but there is now fishing, and vehicles and for awhile there were transportation tubes.
Loonatic93: Sideshow is one of my favorite E-Sports commentators.
ContingentCat: oh wow

Saunabath: Not sure that's good
EvilBadman: they delisted Rocket League, it still gets updates on Steam
Wicker_Guide: okay, that's not...bad
TehAmelie: fishing you say? i've never played Fortnite but now i'm thinking of trying to play the pacifist route
Wicker_Guide: I'm a long way from being comforted that this is not Rocket League 2
DoodlestheGreat: If the members in that dev team have any sort of stake in the company, they all just became filthy
bowseriffic: no doubt, Paul
fubargames: Good news is that apparently the player's mom put the money from his signing into an account he will get access to when he gets older. Exactly the sort of thing that would hopefully happen.
Wicker_Guide: I hope so. I think Rocket League's experience makes that less certain, but I hope so
Wicker_Guide: @fubargames that is indeed nice

Wicker_Guide: Yeah, hopefully Epic doesn't go "we are willing to sacrifice Fall Guys to the altar of our store's ascendency"
fubargames: Reportedly the age limit to play in Fortnite tournaments is 13 years, so "~4½ years for the team to wait...?
Aarek: HoloLens never really left developer mode
fubargames: Yeah, AR feels like it can be *really* useful
UraharaSci: @fubargames it would also depend on the pro tournament rules
TheMerricat: @LoadingReadyRun so in 'videogame' way Hololens never really took off bt they do business in the business world using it.
Wicker_Guide: superimposed on the lenses
UraharaSci: Wait Hatoful Boyfriend was made by Mediatonic?? Pigeons for Fortnite
fubargames: Yeah, of course, just meant that the press I just read implied that was the current age limit? But yeah, not even gaming press, so might not reflect reality.
bowseriffic: Great concept 👍
Wicker_Guide: I look forward to Cam's Horror AR from the Call of Cthulhu campaign
Aarek: HoloLens cost like 3,500 USD so pretty much used for big business stuff
Mai_Andra: I imagine hololens as more like Tony Stark/Avengers computer screens "in the air."
Wicker_Guide: lol, that'd be hard even in a pure video game engine
fubargames: The great thing with AR I want to happen is for it to become cheap enough to make a clear see through screen to let me see the google maps arrows for directions in real life. (A sense of direction is something that happens to other people)
RockPusher: AR has huge potential in servicing complex equipment (like jets or rockets) and MS has aligned hololens at that market
xantos69: I'm with Beej. Give me full immersion or don't bother. Holideck or bust!

AdamYMHMI: There's a lot of cars with limited AR (that Beej is talking about)
Wicker_Guide: what about if that was on the windshield, yeah
LurkerSpine: some cars do have HUDs, yes
fubargames: Yeah, if it's on your windscreen the idea is that it's not 100% opacity
aerobeing: @fubargames So... couriers?
AdamYMHMI: It's amazing, I love it and wish that every car had them because it's less distracting than looking down at mph.
ContingentCat: the kind of information that's already availible
aerobeing: I want Denno Coil AR.
jonnykefka: *really* extended desktop
RockPusher: IKEA assembly - killer AR app
nyperold: Or not being able to see the information because of your steering wheel.
LurkerSpine: Jalopnik had an article where the AR helped someone just build a gokart without any knowledge. The AR showed like, what tool to use and what part goes where
aerobeing: RockPusher, oooh.
fubargames: This more like Amazon warehouses than couriers.
aerobeing: LUL

AdamYMHMI: I'm disappointed they cut that scene from Minority Report, Paul.
accountmadeforants: "Make sure your holophone is on the same UltraQuantum Network"
UraharaSci: Then someone else puts a pic up by accident
LordZarano: Surely someone has come up with the Google Cardboard of AR? It just needs a half-mirror, a couple of lenses, and a phone right?
tenthtechpriest: imagine only having 30 tabs open
Wicker_Guide: That's what Google Cardboard is
Aarek: As someone who has used a HoloLens, I have absolutely lost windows behind me or just had them placed in weird places.
xantos69: Yea...that was a great Community episode.
Saunabath: I'm thinking the car HUDs but the system fitted into motorcycle helmets
RockPusher: The Stadia prophecy is well underway at self-fulfilling
DoodlestheGreat: Explore the depth of their shallowness.
aerobeing: @Saunabath Someone seems to be doing that as well.
ThorSokar: Time till the clearly bad idea implodes ~10 weeks
fubargames: Google cardboard but with a phone from the near future *could* do really cool VR/AR things I think.
tenthtechpriest: have confidence. no confidence.
bowseriffic: yuppp
Wicker_Guide: I am confident of failure
DoodlestheGreat: Obscene gestures...
fubargames: They would have to have done that already though?
xantos69: How do I short shares of stadia?
TehAmelie: i often think about this short film i saw, maybe Korean, about a future where HUDs adjust everything in sight. someone in a grocery store gets a glitch that gives them another person's ID and everything changes branding to appeal to their gender and such
SquareDotCube: Eh, Stadia should've pivoted to non-consumer purposes
ContingentCat: I feel like they should have done something like that by now
bowseriffic: ha
aerobeing: @TehAmelie Ooh. I want to find that movie.
Mordin_Solus_Sings: Very true! It can also still suck even if you do have fiber.
aerobeing: @TehAmelie Sounds like a scene in Minority Report, expanded.
TheMerricat: Cardboard had some AR app IRRC, my headset lasted all of a month before I accidently sat on it, but I do feel like I remember some sort of AR deal that was designed for a non-approved cardboard deal where the camera wasn't obsured.
xantos69: @SquareDotCube You are describing Citrix. It is remote hosted desktops for work stuff.
ContingentCat: or they think the low tier is way higher than it is
accountmadeforants: The "Stadia Box" is just the Chromecast Ultra, and people were already using it for things other than Stadia. (It seems people who had YouTube Red subscriptions got some for free, and a large number of them never even bothered to use the controller that came with it.)
aerobeing: @TehAmelie I also think there might have been something like that in Black Mirror.
PharaohBender27: "What do you *mean* some people don't have reliable WiFi!?"
TheMerricat: @TehAmelie I remember that film, it wasn't so much of a glitch as they were attacked and infected with a virus that took over their identity.

Field94 converted from a Prime sub to a Tier 1 sub!
TehAmelie: a short asian sci fi movie involving viruses taking over people's AR vision and altering their reality/identity
TheMerricat: @RockPusher a video from about a decade ago that was a "this is how the world would be with smart glasses and megacorps" where the person spends most of their time dealing with sorta today like jobs like going to a grocery store and buying stuff for someone else and etc, being given jobs via the glasses. Then mid-way through they are attacked by someone to infect their glasses with a virus and it takes over their online identity.
